1. It is not known as a transitional zone, it is known as the rural-urban fringe. The urban functions found there are not compatible to the urban area e.g. sewage works, airport. 2. Question is vague 3. There are a lot of problems e.g. urban blight which can be found in the transitional zone. Traffic congestion, pollution, to name a few. 4. It is known as urban sprawl. 5. There is no specific percentage but it can be said that an urban area focuses on secondary, tertiary and quaternary activities. IT is multi-functional
