Two parents and the Clark County School District have settled a lawsuit over an assignment where a 15-year-old was required to read an expletive-laced monologue that the school board deemed too obscene to read publicly at a meeting.

The same laws that protect us do not apply once on the campus of a public school. Teachers are routinely assaulted and take all sorts of verbal abuse all day long. There are no repercussions to the students. It's a completely different legal landscape once on the campus. -- Former Teacher

Not much information really, Was it mandatory reading? Was it recommended/provided by the school? How did it get into the curriculum? What is the process of approving reading material? Had the teacher read it? I'm not local so have no other information. I'm still on the fence.
