Settling Down | Pioneers of Pagonia (Settlement Builder - Demo)

Pioneers of Pagonia is a settlement builder game (designed by the chap who came up with The Settlers) with a focus on building an efficient road network to allow goods to be moved around effectively, and of course we excel at efficiency in The Geek Cupboard so it's all going to be fine!
We arrive at a lovely island and decide to call it home so we get building our initial buildings, such as warehouses, cottages, farms and woodcutters.
We have fixed borders on the island but we can expand them with the cunning use of little stone marker pins we put in the ground, so we build a stonemason to craft lots of pins and employ some soldiers to expand our borders!
Eventually we get to slightly more advanced buildings like wood workshops and cement workshops and we hatch a plan to do what most settlement games have you do... bake some bread! Although whilst this seems like a simple plan, it does take a while to actually work out as we'd like...

The instant I saw those border "Milestones" I knew this was going to be good. This game looks like it's basically Settlers 1/2 but modernized where it needs and nothing else. :D

What a beautiful looking game. Thank you for showing it off so nicely, Mr. Penge. You always make me smile. D'you know what I think? Those bright and cheerful buildings with their mushroom rooves need gnomes 🎅🧑‍🎄 to live and work in them. Gnomes with big bushy beards, long braided hair, and fluffy eyebrows (both males and females). Gnomes with bright, colourful shirts and pants or skirts... and big pointy hats that sort of flop off to one side. They might even have flowers in their hats. Gnomes that take care in their work and enjoy a [bubble] pipe with their tea or pint [of rootbeer] in the evenings. Gnomes that enjoy a lively dance when they celebrate things like the harvest, a birth, a wedding, spring and even mid-winter. Yes, I think the humans need to be replaced with garden-style gnomes. And a time slider. It really needs a time slider thing so we can "move time on nice and quick"... or pause it when we have to leave the room to have supper.

Thankyou for that essential clarification Penge. There I was with my pickaxe in hand, ready to go out for a day of mining and hoping dearly to find a vein of bread, only to realise that this valuable commodity can usually be found in the kitchen 😂 🍞 ⛏️

46:00 Rushing time is really not the aim of this game ^^ it is all about leisurely expanding ... and a bit of fighting in the full game. Essentially, enjoy the "Wusel"

That is true but when you're trying to record a KZbin video showing the game and you have limited time it can be a bit frustrating! A niche issue though.

@@TheGeekCupboard Actually, with your usual length in videos it would be possible to reach "the end" of the demo. It took me less than an hour. Considering my history with "The Settler"-games maybe I had an advantage or the map that was generated was a bit better. In the end, it is simply not meant to be a rushed experience and I bet, off camera, you would have a lot of fun as well :)

I love the detail of the graphics. They don't wave their hands in the air and a pile number changes. They actually pick up a individual stuff and carry it, like that bread towards the end. It looks like it's been make with some love. PS: 😻 1:03:55 THERE'S A CAT!!

After watching your great video, I downloaded and began to play,bit awkward at times to maneuver at times, but the annoying thing I found was that they just wouldn't build some of the buildings i.e. Guild Hall, Extra Well - when I checked what was wrong it said construction materials missing i.e. hammers, but I have 18 hammers - any ideas where I might have gone wrong would be greatly appreciated. TIA

every storage you build must be told what it should store. The storage only holds 64 items of one type.
