That was so stressful, Everytime a pigeon came, I thought it was the hawk and when I find out it's a pigeon, I'm relived haha
@redstarloft52114 жыл бұрын
Oh yea. Few of the pigeons hid in the trees and whenever they would fly out i thought it was a hawk

That was hard to watch. I was nervous for you the whole time. Especially because I’m about to be in the same boat. Those hawks about gave me a heart attack.

does this work? i’m training my flyers right now and don’t want to scare them off, but i’m to the point as soon as i let them out two hawks come right on in... i’ve only lost 2 thankfully, but that’s two too many, and i hate watching them get attacked in the air while trying to fly

The birds are looking great and the best way for them to get used to the area and where home is the way you gave them the chance to just chill and do their thing and hoping them hawks will not return.
@redstarloft52114 жыл бұрын
Hawk is just a part of life and i think im going to fight it for as long as i have pigeons haha but yes you definitely need to let the pigeons chill out and figure out where they are without any added stress

No matter how much you use a whistle or any sort of distraction, the hawks will always be around and take your birds, the only thing we can hope for is the birds are fit enough and smart enough to avoid it

A good idea is to put a big wire made settling cage and put it on the loft. With them in it for days. So they see all around them and this way if one fly up and away he knows were he's at. I'm just saying. But Good luck in settling them. Beautiful looking birds. Great video keep them flying

Hi this scary.. Enemy at th door... I would like to know if u managed to them all in.. And perhaps u tell me how you going to train them later with hawks circling in your sky... 😗
@redstarloft52114 жыл бұрын
I got all of them in. Training will be much easier than settling. Im sure that a hawk will end up getting one or two and thats ok but as long as the birds know where home they will come back just fine

Ive been watching your videos for a while now and i do enjoy them just one thing i cant seem to understand is why you didnt break in the first round after weaning them same with the second round and so on. atleast that way your not letting out so many birds at the same time and none have been out before and the first round will be strong on the wing by now.very scary moments for you my friend.from australia
@redstarloft52114 жыл бұрын
Ideally i would have loved to do that but thst would mean letting them out in early february when the temperstures are always below freezing, it rains or snows almost every day and hawks are at their absolute hungriest. I think its safer to wait longer and do it as weather improves
