Have you tried settings images up using the web gui? I can set everything up pretty easily on the desktop application but recently decided to test out the web interface only & it has the ability to add images just can't use the gns3 appliance & have to add everything in manually.

GNS 3VM and GNS3 are same versions but sometimes doesn't ready (green) in GNS server.
