Simple setup of a "In Sim" JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller) within DCS World.

"Visible" ticked means that the JTAC has to have direct line of sight onto the target. If not ticked he dont need to have line of sight.

Pretty certain that is incorrect. Visible in this context means whether or not the unit is visible to the enemy. It has nothing to do with line of sight.

What's the reason for setting the call sign and frequency through additional advanced waypoints? So far I think I've not had to do that and DCS seems to get the call sign and freq correct from the FAC action.

ED have recently changed the JTAC setup before the change radio frequencies and call signs had to be set this way or the JTAC would not communicate

Just a sidenote, type 2 means the JTAC has visual contact with the target, hence the lasing ability. Type 1 is no vis and 3 is danger close.

Type 1 requires the controller to acquire the target and attacking unit before the attack and controls each attack within the engagement. Type 2 would be where there are some other conditions that keep JTAC from acquiring one or the other (I don't know all the details) but still requires clearance for each attack within the engagement. Type 3 doesn't require visual and allows JTAC to provide clearance for multiple attacks. Do you know if it is possible to assign an IP and get lines 1-2-3 in the nine line working too?

With reference to Lines 1,2 & 3, I have not seen this working in sim ever to date. As far as IPs are concerned these can form part of the CAS brief prior to mission start and waypoints, particularly in the A10, could be labelled as such. To my knowledge this does not form part of the current 9 line process within DCS. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Does this setup work the same for drone JTAC? And how far is their laser range/ how high should they fly? And: Is it possible to lase ships? Ive successfully enganged ground units, but for ships it somehow doesnt work.. I can set it up normally, but once I start the radio comms it just says "no targets available"

Unfortunately lasing Naval Vessels does not work. However I am considering making a mod that will allow that ability. Cheers.

Not working for me. They sometimes respond, usually not. I keep flying around and calling, but only have about 30% success rate of JTAC responding.

how does the DATA Link thing work in the A10c? When I was flying a mission and i had received the 9Line my MFCDs said ,,NEW TASKING" or ,,NEW MISSION" or similar, how do i use this? I couldnt figure it out

You can WILCO the the tasking and a Triangle will appear on your map MFCD. You can then select it and make a mark point to slew your weapons and tpod to.

I have tested all my missions containing a JTAC and they all still work. Perhaps its your airframe....which aircraft are you using it with?

So I have Humwe (playable) I'm targeting with laser the target and I want the plane to throw bombs / missiles on my target. What mus i set at airplane (not playable, will AI)?

To my knowledge you cannot lase for an AI aircraft as they simply do not have the ability to be assigned to a lased ground attack. Perhaps add to the wish list section of the forums for inclusion with Combined Arms

Do the targets have to be in your radius? Right now I am setting up mine to be inside the radius since my circle is red and not yellow like yours. I am copying exactly what you said in your video.

The circle is the units engagement area for weapons. In essence so long as the unit had LOS (Line of Sight) it should mark the targets. If it cant the marking options in the drop down box will be yellowed out. Hope this helps.

I even have easy comms selected but when I tried to talk to them, I didn't get a response. Did I set up something wrong?

So many variables to explore......what unit are you using as JTAC? What time of day has been set? For which aircraft type are you wanting to lase? How far away from the intended target is the JTAC? cheers.

@@suntsagancientgamer8241 I am using the F/A-18 and the JTAC units I use are the HMMWV TOW and the Stryker ICV (one of each). The time of day is at 1000 hours.
