As a newbie in cad and cnc machining, I found this tutorial very useful and will definately bookmark it. The experts could whine about how this or that is not 100% perfect, accurate or whatever, but seriously Lars you're making an excellent job making stuff less intimidating for the beginners and so much easier getting our feet wet. Thank you.

Lars, thanks for the video. On your first tip about importing stock as a body via insert, there is a significant omission. That is that the CAM setup under which the simulation was run and the stock saved must be in units mm. If inch, it will be made huge and not match the model when inserted. The model units do not appear to matter. This seems to be a misfeature or, perhaps, even a bug.

Hi John Brisbin Thank you for watching! Seems like metric is the prefered import of mesh in Fusion. I should get with the development team and get some more info on this

Hi Lars, Is there a special trick to do into the preference of fusion to use the "load stock" as you show? Because Nothing happen when I click on "load stock". Thanks.

Lars, thanks for showing how to add the clamps. My question is how do you make sure that the clamps you place in the real world, when the stock is in the machine, are at exactly the same place as you modelled them in CAM?

Hi qCNC K Thank you for watching! I would normally make a 2D print drawing from the top so the operator could place them in the right place

Hi Dimitris kalpakidis Thank you for watching! Oh man, You might be challenging my intelligence :-) I would have to search KZbin myself for that one

I noticed when making your setup and selecting the clamps as bodys there was a "fixture" checkbox On that same tab. Would that be another way to select you fixture components? Maybe it could be better because if you select the clamps as bodys the tool path will cut right up to the clamp as if it was a feature of the part itself? Awesome video, great to know how to add tooling holes and pull stock from one setup to the next.

Hi dylan hughes Thank you for watching! "Fixture" Will give you a warning when simulating, but not avoid the selection. Great for vises and stops. Best Lars

I think Lars mentioned somewhere that he's not an aerospace guy. This is more to show the the modeling and CAM techniques. I believe it should be fairly easy for us to add a slot for the spar.

Lars, Is there a way to import step files into the tool library in Fusion 360. I have an extensive collection of turning tool files. I would like to know how to import these if possible. Thanks.

Hi Brian Staser Thank you for watching! That would be a cool feature. At this point there is not. Please go here and add it as a want if you like: forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation/idb-p/125

If I was flipping a part that could not have a hole drilled in it would I put my pickup hole in the boundary stock?
@cadcamstuff
@cadcamstuff 6 жыл бұрын
Hi George Crickmore Thank you for watching! You could. Many times I would just pickup the outside walls I machined in the first operation with an indicator and set my pickup at the center stock

So if I have a probe I can just flip it probe and go? Once I have programed the second side of course.

Machining boundary completely sucks.. it's impossible to properly use it to KEEP the toolpaths OUT of regions you don't want to.. both 3d adaptive and pocket always somehow get into the area you want it to keep out of (creating a sketch boundary with inside and outside shapes - the CAM has logical problems staying in the defined inner region.. it always manages to do something very irrational and slip into the region it shouldn't be in).. very frustrating and it shows it was programmed by well unexperienced amateurs (in terms of machining).. oh and the lip smacking is annoying in the video
