Holy…Luke’s desk is crazy good. Amazing work 😮 Why do I love Setup Wars? Even prior to the pandemic, this was a little hobby of mine, but when everything went down and we all started working from home, that hobby became an obsession. So much time is spent in this space with work and play, I had to make my space the best it could be. I loved tuning in to see what everybody else was doing with their setups, and some folks' creativity is off the charts. To this day, I still find joy and inspiration in the show, and hope to see it continue for many more episodes

@@owlwoodworks how do you deal with heat on the wireless charging set up? My phone alone heats up whilst using a magfit case and wireless charger holder.

@ My wireless chargers have also done this and I was concerned about it, but this one hasn’t had that problem. My phone still gets warm on it, but I think because the wireless charging receiver is outside the body of the keyboard, it doesn’t get nearly as warm. Not warm at all actually. I think the heat problem is because the receiver in phones is literally inside the metal box that is the phone. So just like any wireless chargers, phones get warm, but the keyboard is not an issue because the receiver is added outside.

I’ve got screenshots of this show saved for designs I want to use -it’s really entertaining: the show is always really well put together and you have a great eye for setups -the videos are easily enjoyable: this is such a welcome break from all the chaos on the news, the theme is pretty wholesome and it’s a nice break from reality. To answer your question Ed, I think it has more to with curiosity within the human nature. People are always interested in others with similar interests. Here it's setups, people like to socialise and talk about interests, and in real life not a lot of people can find others with interests as niche as this. I mean not every average joe is going to chat you up about cable management and personalisation on your desk, to most it'd just be a simple picture of family and thats it. This show gives people a medium to discuss this interest, see what others are cooking with their setups, and people who are going to make a new setup or about to improve their own can get inspiration obviously. Even if they aren't people always love to see what others are up to and with setup wars it's all in one place, its like a virtual hangout while serving the competitive spirit everyone has, comparing everyones setups and everyone's innovative approaches. The hosting you do is fun, and theres always something fresh with the submitted setups which keeps people hooked, not to mention the different editions you do provide variety. okay thats it felt like im typing as analysis essay for college lol

I am one of the people who has been watching you for a LONG time. I remember when you didn't have your own desk mats, and when your first warehouse was broken into. The only reason i say that, is because i do enjoy your take on things, however i keep tuning into setup wars because there really isn't anything like it. The best way I can think to associate it, is its like the "nerd" version of "MTV cribs" - if you are someone that has to work on a computer full time or just enjoy new technology, its nice to see other peoples setups and what they've done. while i agree with you that you have probably shown every possible configuration, the items in the setup are typically different, I don't think in all of the episodes I have seen that 2 peoples setups where the EXACT same. (disclaimer: I have probably not seen every episode, but I've seen the majority of them) so to more directly answer your question, i tune in to these episodes, because i enjoy seeing what people do with their setups.... another interesting one would be to tie in the setups with what the person uses them for.
@javier52153 ай бұрын
The reason why I keep watching setup wars is simple, its interesting to see what other people do with what they have. different trends come and go. Sometimes I see someone on your show come up with something interesting and I want to replicate it so I can refresh my setup. I see parts of my setup scattered across many episodes and Im still impressed at how they work with their spaces given, budgets, etc. Sometimes people come up with really tacky designs but I still love them because (even though I'd never do it to my setup) its fun to see what people come up with. I love the good, bad and everything in-between. It's not just about buying the best and hiding the cables. I get inspired by the color designs, mixing and matching products. Sometimes I even get excited when someone has the same mouse or keyboard that I do. I'd never show my setup the show because I'm too shy and get embarrassed easily but I'm proud of those who have the courage to do so. I learn something new with every episode.

I will answer but firstly OMG THAT OG INTRO!!! Loved how you just sneaked that old intro in this vídeo! It's really been a while! About the series, it's just something that works, whoever likes tech likes to see what's new, or what others are doing with their setups, there is always new gear, new decoration ideas, new keyboard styles, it's not about the specs, it is mostly about the style, and to that even tho we maybe already saw some of the BEST setups, there is always more, creativity has infinite potential so we like to see what else people did with their setups/gaming rooms to get ideas as well and even try some of them on our own setups/gaming rooms, and you make these vídeos to be very good content to watch by making it simple, giving tips and some funny jokes as well here and there, to me personally it's a good vibe to watch these while working or even having a meal at the pc. Been around for years now, but I don't usually comment and I'm not active on Discord, but I do truly follow all your content and I saw you going from the first Big Red to this point, and this series is still amazing and just like any other you doing it's all great content. Keep it up, have fun and wish you and your family the best! :D

As a drop-in viewer, I will say what brings me around is that everyone has a different style. Just because it's been done before, doesn't mean it's a carbon copy; there's something to learn. it's just fun to take that peek into someone else's mind. Holiday home displays/tours, car shows, art displays...it's all a peek at what someone else likes. Sometimes it's personal validation, sometimes it's "wow that was kinda a train wreck, but if they like it".

I'll share my perspective on why I personally LOVE Setup Wars 1 Congrats on 350th video! I've been around since the mid 100s episode :) 2. Me personally, I find constant inspiration through the series and I recommend it to a lot of my friends who love gaming and may not know about your channel. To your point, we HAVE seen a lot of them and a lot of them start to feel similar, but I think that's part of the challenge? We see a lot of similarities, and then you have a few who wants to be further challenged and differentiate themselves to stand out from the norm 3. I also happen to LOVE interior design/decorating and follow a lot of those channels as well. A lot of the interior design channels reviews and discusses what's trending, what's in and what's not, what's timeless and HOW interior decorating and design evolves over time and how design styles come in and out (example: A few years back, everyone was OBSESSED with grey interiors....grey walls, grey floors, so a lot of people renovated or built homes with grey everything, etc and now interior design styles have evolved to introducing warm and dark moody colors. Who knows, grey interiors might come back in the future again!). I think of Setup wars in a similar light to see how gaming setups evolve over time and what comes and goes :)

Luke is the reason why we watch set up wars. A lot are similar with different configurations but every once in a while you see something that inspires you to rethink what you thought was good.
@dillbill2AАй бұрын
How are the temps on Luke's drawer PC though? Something like that would be so easy to keep clean and to change parts out when the time comes. That's such a neat idea.

the only reason why im still wanting to watch this even after 5 years is because i love to see the personalitys through peoples setups

I started watching during the pandemic when I needed a new hobby while locked down. I still watch to live vicariously through others' set ups. I cannot continually update/upgrade my setup so I enjoy seeing what else is possible.

your series is one of those things that helps fill the void of my need for entertainment. KZbin being one of the avenues. it helps pass the time. And Techsource just so happens to have content that i enjoy consuming.

We're all here for the community. It's awesome to watch the trends change and the way all of us have our own flavor of a setup. Please don't kill the series. You were the first channel I ever saw when I built my first pc in 2017. Thank you for all the episodes and helping us all share our passion'

Honestly the biggest reason I come back even after a year or so of watching.. is mainly because of the setups (ironic right?) I love seeing everyone's take on setups, from small to huge, from expensive setups to cheaper ones. It even helps me build mine by taking ideas from the setups into my own setup, and it's also just enjoyable to watch these videos when they get uploaded.

I literally can't believe that I'm watching setup wars since I was in 7th grade and now I'm in college. Time flies so fast, I'm also grateful that I manifested to have a mid range laptop to work on since I'm freelancer, it's not the best but I'm grateful that this series inspired me to learn more about tech as I grew older. It also inspired me to work hard so that I can have my own setup. One of the reasons why I still watch the series is actually dopamine, to motivate myself and to see people have cool stuff/cool setups that they love and how they were passionate to build or to design them.

I've been watching for about 5 years now. I've watched for so long because of all of the amazing set ups and all of the inspiration this show gives me. I'd like to see an episode of sit/stand desk set ups.

It's like art. There is never one exactly like the same. I keep watching because I see something new each time, each one helps me set goals for my own setup. Plus, it is nice to see the passion of everyone out there.

First off, when you have a hobby like building pc's, it never gets old seeing someone else's build. I think in the last few years having a room based around your pc build has become so popular, but it's great seeing it just the same. I could, sometimes do, just watch people build their setups from start to finish, it tickles the ocd I think!

I only started watching this year - but even still, there's so much creativity and personality in each and every one of these set ups. Everyone starts somewhere, and the best thing is that building a set up means you never have to keep building it better

honestly very simple this is the series that ever since i started watching it in 2020 inspired me to switch to PC and build a whole setup (considering participating in setup wars myself) and i love watching the series every time an episode drops, it just keeps the setup passion alive and update and its true that while some setups and designs come back multiple times we can still see the trends slowly evolve over time, like nowadays seeing more mature setups with the wood panels for exemple

TechSource says “why”. The reason why I’ve been watching and keep watching is not just for the inspiration but to hear you give your opinions to help people make their setup better, and you give such detailed reviews. Thank you TechSource

I know I watch for a few reasons. Firstly it's like a nice habit, the quality and effort make them easy to watch and I enjoy seeing Ed. Secondly it's just simply pleasing to the brain to see symmetry and most of the featured set-ups present something unique whether they're considered "best" or not. Finally would be the inspiration, I've been recently upgrading my set-up more and it's been making me happier and even helped me finally start making my own content.

The thing with set up wars is that we can see how aesthetics changes through time and that people will find inspirations from these to build their own set ups. Theres an unlimited number of ways to build a set up and its cool to see how it changes throughout the years.

Ed, setup wars and any other series is like therapy, with each new video upload, there is something funny in the videos, something inspiring, joyful to watch and also happy 9th Techsource anniversary, keep up the great work, and keep on inspiring others. Best feeling ever.

Here is a new series idea for setup wars. Do a throwback edition and review some of the older setups again from the beginning episodes of setup wars and with the knowledge you have now critique the setups with how you would fix them now!

I find these very inspirational for designing my own setup, which is usually just temporary… I like to change things around for a fresh perspective, and seeing new takes on ergonomics (or lack thereof) is very inspiring.

ive only been watching setup wars for 2 year now i think people keep watching it because the backlog doesn't get featured in the algorithm as much. the new videos are always going to bring a new experience to someone. it sounds like setup wars has become a part of you over the years of doing it. Regardless of where setup wars goes ill always remember this is as a place that started a new world of sharing how we make our own setup ours.

Initially, I subbed and liked watching the episodes just for relaxation with a bit of entertainment. But yeah, I gained more than that as time goes on. Eventually, I learned a lot more than I could have thought of. And who wouldn't love watching those beautiful setups? It's like an obsession that's good for my mind and keeps my hopes up, like "Someday I'm going to set up my own and send it to TS for feedback, tips, and advice." I may not be a regular viewer or have been subscribed for years, but I love watching your videos. For some personal reasons, I couldn't be on the list of your top viewers. Lastly, Thank you for sharing all those ideas and works you put in for us(viewers).

It's relaxing asf and you make me laugh (few can). Binged a year's worth when I discovered your channel a year ago. Life's been tougher since then so whenever you drop and I get some time to watch, it calms me like few things left are able to.

Everyone is different, everyone buys different gear, has different personalities, etc. Setup Wars is a great outlet for these different products, personalities, styles. Super inspiring... it really helps people find new gear or styles they might be into that they would've never known about before. I will always expect new unique layouts with your series because you have a good fanbase that like to try new unique setups to submit on the show.

Why do I keep watching set up wars? No set up is the same. Set ups are a reflection of your character. It’s nice to see how others prefer their set ups and how they spend their free time. No matter how many episodes we may see we can always find a new inspiration and motivation in someone else’s set up. Thank you for keeping this going.

To answer your question about why we watch. For me it's about ideas for my own setup. It's also about how much entertainment I get from your videos. I personally like your style in the videos you make. You keep me informed on what technology is available for setups. I started watching your videos back when your office got robbed and you impressed me by how you responded to the idiots who said you staged the whole thing. I love the fact that you always put your family first. And sometime in the future would love to meet you and your family. I know that's not possible yet since I've only been lurking in your KZbin channel these past years but someday I would like to see you in person. You seem to really have your heart in the right place.
