I have the dual vkb sticks coming next week (same as you have in the video)... are you saying the default control mapping (I'm on 7.0 beta) will work out of the box the same way you have it configured in this video?

do you have a picture of the default controls you made? i like to print them out for reference instead of blindly pressing buttons. the link in your description leads to a blank picture

As a madwoman who uses two Thrustmaster T.16000 joysticks for a HOSAS setup... I usually like to use my right hand's hat for lateral/vertical thrusters in most space sims. But I like dedicating one of the top buttons (usually the left on on each stick) to be a modifier... so I can left-hand modifier and use the right hat for targeting. Serves me well in Elite, but trying to make my schemes make sense in X4 has led to me pulling my hair out... just figured I'd do my engagement diligence by sharing this story.

I feel like with games that has gimballed weapons HOTAS will always be in a disadvantage to a mouse when it comes to aiming. Elite is an exception because the gimballed weapons autotrack the target near the crosshair ( withing their gimball limits ) but for example in X4 where the gimballs allow for a significant tracking off the center its much easier to just put the mouse on it than to track it with a joystick. I am not trying to hate on on HOTAS I have 2 different sets ( Warthog and a Virpil ) and been a fan of flightsims ( DCS, Falcon BMS ) for decades at this point.

Hi Collins! Thank for the good review! I am completely new to the space genre, I mostly fly planes and play FS 2020 and 2024. Which title would you suggest to try out from space sims? tons of choice out there. Mostly love flying something that has a lot of that. I have a TM warthog and TM pendulum rudder setup, but ordered the Virpil alpha prime (with war BRD-D) and the upcoming VPC Vmax prime.

If you like flying and you like to focus on it: Elite Dangerous. If you got VR, even better (afaik). The flying mechanics and exploration are extremely well done

@@CaptainCollins Ok thank you! In the meantime started Star Citizen since it has now free trial to 5. december, but that game is vast. :) Looking for tutorials since it is quite complex.

Awesome video Captain Collins, just wondering if there is a link for the VKB NXT EVO button layouts (Blank). I search their site and can't seem to find the template. I just got my sticks and would like to set them up properly as you instructed in this video :) I have downloaded your xml and will use that but would like a visual to get use to my button layout. Is there any way to print out the mappings for a given hotas so I have a reference to look at while playing ?? I'm using the X52 Pro and want to try your mappings out E2A: Never mind, joining discord worked once I'd patched it.. I'll go dig around on there !

I find targeting enemies in x4 with a mouse and keyboard horribly, disgustingly, frustratingly impossible. Not sure a joystick would help. Shift E is targeting enemy, is there another one that keeps autotargeting? The crosshairs, barely visible as they are, jump all over the place and all I hit is my rsi treshhold,

The buttons on the base of the TM T-16000m are practically useless. The control of the stick is great. But nothing really differentiates any of the base buttons. None of them have any tactile difference which means you have to eyeball the button to know which one you're pressing. I'm gonna keep it (and my TWCS throttle) only because I can't justify buying another setup since this works...But it whenever it breaks, I'm looking elsewhere.

Does x4 work with trackir?

I know it works with Tobii, should also work with trackir, since the controls are in game for enabling head tracking

huh? If you ask me why it's not linked, there's an easy answer: I made the new default layouts in the X4 7.00 Beta 7. No need to share them, they are all in the game :)
