I think the dad's reaction to his child's intelligence level is interesting. Like usually, parent's would go insane to have a smart child in terms of sungjae's iq (which is understandable; as sungjae's kind of intelligence is easily reflected in documentable academic performance), but the dad knew that that's not all there is to development. He was actually worried, and that was something I appreciate. Usually parents focus on one kind of intelligence and let go of the others, but for this case, you come to understand why the child's smart in different ways--because he has parents that support an expansive meaning of child development :-)

Yeah, I also think the way his parents talk to him is important. Where is he learning all these words and sentences? His parents. I always found my younger cousin fascinating since he spoke like an adult from a very young age, and that was because his parents talked him without using "baby talk". He could express himself well and hold a conversation (albeit a childish one because he was a kid, after all).

SJ17dork because, gifted means a bit different and difference can lead to isolation, especially at the age of elementary school
@hyperactivegenie7 жыл бұрын
If Seungjae has younger siblings or cousins when he starts school, it would be helpful to him in the social arena because he could treat his peers like young children who need his help and have experience breaking things down into steps like his dad did for him. In early elementary, other kids don't instinctively isolate gifted children; sometimes, gifted children isolate themselves because they see their peers as being different. This is part of why the parents' influence and encouragement are crucial in their social development.

I'm honestly not surprised, speaking from experience as the oldest child in my family with two younger siblings, often the youngest in the family develops language more slowly than older siblings/an only child. This is because often, the older siblings will "speak" for the youngest (like all the times Seola "translates" for Daebak) and so the youngest just doesn't have a reason to try speaking as quickly. In my family, my language skills were very advanced for my age like Seungjae, while my younger sister was a lot more like Daebak because my brother and I would figure out what she wanted and "speak" for her instead of waiting for her to, haha. It's actually impressive how well Daebakie's language is developing! But you're totally right, Seungjae's language skills are definitely more developed than Daebak's.
@humdii52367 жыл бұрын
ForeverCellist oh wow. This is so true. I'm seeing this happening with my neices. The eldest spoke extremely well when she was young (too well if you ask me) and now, her little sister doesn't speak as well as she did. And I experienced this myself too. I was the youngest and my mum said that I didnt used to speak much however my siblings spoke a lot. And I've also noticed how my nephew (only child in his family) is like Seungjae. He speaks really well for his age and does look a lot up to his elder peers rather than younger.

I always want to have a smart kid like seungjae but never really consider the cons of their intelligence.. Lolita Rachmadian my mom's friends son is extremely intelligent for his age (Seungjae reminds me of him perfectly) and we have a huge age gap like 10 years so he loved hanging out with us, but it was actually hard being around him sometimes because he is so smart and doesn't socialize with kids his age really well. Tablo baby talks Haru but she speaks very well and has great knowledge for someone her age. But I get why jiyong is worried about seungjae being too advanced. Believe me, I've seen some people who I grow up with that has exceptional IQ they are grew distant (either they become arrogant and looks down on their peers or becomes incredibly socially awkward bcs they don't know how to engage a conversation with people their age group) even though they were bright and friendly when we were little. Seungjae is already showing signs of it since he is often seen hanging out with hyungs instead of kids his own age since they still can't comprehend his way of thinking.
@urik197 жыл бұрын
what are comprehensive skills? and idk about vocabs, you learn what things are from people who interact closely with you (in most cases: parents), I am not discounting the possibility that Seungjae has high IQ. but at that age, you learn vocab from your closest social environment or the media (depending on whether you are allowed to engage with media).
@nolzanolza95017 жыл бұрын
i think so too.. i think his comprehensive and vocab skills are really innate in him since he is stuck up in his house all day with only his mom to talk to. and if you can see, he doesnt have that much toys unlike the twins and other kids.. his toys are mostly the same, dinosaurs and medical kit toys. toys were usually given to children in order to enhance their comprehensive skills.

Well I grew up like Seungjae.. Little amount of toys, just my mum or grandma to talk to until my dad came home and pepole in my kindergarten thaught I was smarter than other kids...but now I can say I have an average IQ because the people at my age caught up with me latter one... I think Ji Yong shouldn't worry...

I agree with you.My sister has a above average IQ than her peers.And to be honest it is more of a con than pro to be highly advanced in the mentioned areas.She is asking questions about normal things we have been following blindly like some rules or traditions.She is having problems adjusting to her peers thus not forming close relationships.She finds our existence futile and is finding hard to do simple things such as taking a bath.She is really flustered and cannot comprehend people who do not think like her.And she is in her last year of high school.

I kindof hope they put Seungjae in an international school. Because he'll be smarter than his peers, he'd look for hyungs and nunas as friends, and in a Korean environment, I feel like that would be hard because of the age system. Also, we've seen how he can pick up English. I imagine Seungjae can be multilingual easily.
@1125oboe7 жыл бұрын
He's on the same level linguistically as those over twice his age :O I'm looking forward to see him develop his language skills even more in the near future ^^ His curiosity and intelligence level could help him even learn a second language :)

That's actually how you pronounce them in Korean too. Korean borrows quite a lot of vocabulary from English. It's really cool.
@lue-rjeatumpalan13637 жыл бұрын
Cassandra Rudolph wow thank you for the info... maybe it's not too late for me to learn korean too😃 if you watch the latest TROS they already have it online and subbed Jiyoung invited some of Sungjae's playmates to their house, you could see Sungjae struggling to socialize already with kids his age, when he doesn't want her new friend to go home he pulled her socks off and hid in his room; when it doesn't go in his way he went and played alone in his room. Even when he is explaining the different kinds of dinosaurs to his new friends and they don't understand him/ they are not interested he is having a slight of a hard time. Both Jiyoung and Sungjae were adjusting to the new situation.

Yes, intellegence comes from mother. But jiyong really play a good role here. He never babbling or like baby talk to seungjae, and always tell seungjae something in a good pronouncation that helps seungjae to absorb it better than father that baby talks to the baby. This really improves seungjae's skill even more tho.. impressive! And this is why we all have acceleration class in our education system. Because gifted children like seungjae can't communicate with his peers... sad, but true

Sungjae is adorable and so smart. That is one charming and smart little boy who will charm everyone he meets both now and in the future. His language skills and stuff are pretty advanced for his age. His parents must talk a lot at home and teach him so much. It's nice to see parents who are teaching their son so well. I want to give that little boy a hug. They should start teaching him English too, he has a good ear for languages and it's easier to learn languages when you're young.

He keeps saying he don't like his dad. I'm glad there is an improvement with their relationship. I remember their conversation that warmed my heart. Jiyong: How much do you love me? Seungjae: As much as the outer space. How much do you love me? Jiyong: I love you a lot more than how much you love me. *My love is bigger than the outer space.* I love this family!

the fact he seperated the animals shocked me .. the word fan which is a new word for him he quickly points the image like he knew what a fan is for a long time that child is gifted most kids cant even pronounce the simple words right and here goes this kid saying REPTILE,MAMALS, AND OTHER HARD WORDS TO PRONOUNCE BY A KID. HIS EMPATHY IS AMAZING TOO. HIS PARENTS NOT ONLY MADE A GOOD LOOKING KID BUT RAISED HIM WELL TOO.

Seungjae is such a bright kid. Smart, (with language and really just the general understanding of things. I.e. when he went to go get a snack in one episode by himself, he knew where the store was. He brought a bag, money, even if it was play money he still knew to do so, and to dress himself. ) friendly and loves to make friends, (I hope children wont use his empathy as a weakness though.) and he is generous and crys when other people cry.

Which is the norm but I forget when I see Seungjae because I then think that's the norm and forget how old he really is. Then something like this happens and reminds me he's literally just 27 months old and forming sentences at the age where his peers are just beginning to speak just blows my mind.
