I’m a Westmoreland native, haven’t been home in 7 years and this brought me to tears. The visuals, your voice, your smile, the beautiful people, the authenticity, they all made me miss home. I grew up listening to RJR in little shops like that one, running bare foot on hot gravel, fetching water from the district tank, and playing in gullies. I’m 22 but that feels like a such a different space and time sometimes. This video reminds me that my memories aren’t just nostalgia, it’s still reality for many of my kin folk. I had no idea I would yearn for that life now. I ended up leaving Westmoreland when I was 7 to live in MoBay so I went to Mt.Alvernia for high school prior to leaving the island.
