I like how Woody's character is a brutal murderer and a gangster that intimidates everyone around him, yet Walken is intensely more frightening in this scene by hardly saying anything at all and just smiling.

That's one of the most intimidating scenes I've ever seen in a film. It's just a simple callback to what we believed was an unrelated story, and the reveal floored me the first time I saw it. We know not to fuck with this guy from the story. The mob boss doesn't even need to hear it, he knows how the intimidation game is played, and he just lost to a veteran.

"A little..." I try, in my life, to handle grief as stoically and forgiving as Hans does in this film. Especially considering how the ending scene is actually about him letting go of his anger and hate. I fail most of the time, but talk about a good character to try to live up to!

I don't think he acts all that much. He's a creepy but likable person off screen. He does bring screen presence like no one else. When I think of great actors I think of Gary Oldman who has roles that you don't know are/is Gary. He even looks different depending on the character.

Like almost every great scene, it’s the relaxed tempo. Nobody racing through their lines because they’ve got a hot date later. The best part was when Walken does his trademark small smile and slight head tilt. Great, as usual.

Its actually terrifying when Walken gets this intense in movies. Some of the most intense scenes in movies are by this man, that scene in True Romance with Dennis hopper, the russian roulette in Deer hunter, some moments in The king of new york & The prophecy and here

The Sicilian speech is still one of the greatest moments in movie history, as a history buff how I can confirm it’s rooted in truth too which makes it so much worse and better. The fact that it is a father choosing a fast death over risking ratting out his son while hiding it so well is beyond sad and touching.

yes. It's not so much underrated as unpopular. Those I know I've shown it to loved it, and I still see new messages in it to this day. Walken def is the best in the movie, one of his greatest performances. It's amazing to see him sit in front of his wifes killer with a smile on his face, trying to give him something and reveal what he truly is. I like it. It's got layers... Many layers..

Christopher Walken sitting in front of the man who JUST killed his wife, and the guy says "Are you hurt?" and he responds with a chilling "A little." I've fuckin got goosebumps from how amazing the acting in this film is. This movie is my favorite of all time, and imho one of Walken's best acting performances, along with Sam Rockwell I recommend this to everyone who hasn't seen it.

He and Sam are very much alike. they play themselves in roles and are easily distinguishable. Someone like Gary Oldman takes it up several notches. His appearance and acting changes with every role and you may not even know it is him unless you know beforehand what role he is playing. But I like both approaches.
