Thanks for you enthusiasm, expertise, and advice Nick. I just finished my first wet shave about 10 minutes ago! Wow. I'm into it now. My first shave took about 45 minutes. Needless to say, there is a lot of room for improvement. I didn't realize that shaving could actually be FUN! Thanks for all that you're doing.

Hey Nick - as a chaplain in the USAF your video sounded like one of my Sunday messages:-) As a wet shaver I truly appreciate the time you take to produce your vids, greatly appreciated, and the shout out to your "mentors" was cool. We all have mentors in life and should thank them more often...blessings to ya

I agree on the Feathers. They melt the hair off my face, but also take my top layer of skin too lol!! I've settled on Personna Blue's for now.

Double Edged safety razors are an amazing technology and testament to 20th century manufacturing processes. A good stainless steel razor looks technologically advanced even today. Hats off to those in your list. They all deserve a lot of credit for producing quality and informative videos. My favourites: Feather AS-D2 and Popular(as a traveller)Razor, Feather Artist Club straight razor handle(professionally. All loaded with Feather blades. Fendrihan shave brushes. Proraso, Cremo, Woodys and Whal 19 concentrate shave creams. Woody’s aftershave gel and balm.

We both have Pride in old inherited Gillette razors. Mine is a solid brass model of my mother's (no, she shaved her legs, not a beard)! The serial no. from the Badger & Blade forum shows it was made in 1925. I recently got it out of the drawer and have been using Gillette Blue Blades made in USA over 30 years ago. I also have the wooden case and a brass container for blades.

Pride! I just got my grandfathers Gillette Adjustable DE Razor ( I bet they are the same model from the early 60's) this past month when I went and visited my grandmother last month. He passed away back in 1996 but I have always wanted that razor and once I showed my enthusiasm for wet shaving with my family, they gladly agreed to give it to me. My grandmother had to dig around and find it. She had put it up in a plastic bag and even gave me some Gillette blades to go with it! I love your videos Nick! Keep em coming bro. However, I wish I'd have watched your Geo F Trumper shaving soap reviews before I got the Eucris (best scent of all time ) and Sandalwood that don't lather for crap!

Dude instead of products, this video should have been about techniques. Or at least that's what it appears like based on the youtube title. I'm sure many beginners come here expecting to learn tons of things about what's bad to do while shaving and you just tell them about good/bad products that they've never heard of.

I am new to wet shaving after buying the shaver backed by the guy on Pawn Stars. I went on you tube looking for a review video and viewed yours on it. I did not realize how popular wet shaving is. I enjoy your videos along with Chris Baileys and Busters. This has quickly become a big hobby for me. So far I love my mercur 34c, Omegle s brush, Caties bubble soap and Prosario aftershave. I have experimented with blades enjoy your blade videos. So far I am leaning toward persona blades. Keep up the good work.

Please try the Cade shave soap- available at L'Occitane stores across America. I have literally 75 soaps, gels, foams, etc. Cade is my favorite !! It is $ 12 for 3.5 oz., and the availability in stores is really nice !! Use a god after shave balm - my favorite is Neutrogena Razor Defense Post Shave Lotion. It is wonderful , about $ 4. 50 , been using it for fifteen years.

Awesome video man. I agree with you on the Omega 10049 brush. I've been using it for a long time now and the only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it's huge.
@Magnulus76
@Magnulus76 5 жыл бұрын
Wow, that Omega really is huge- I can't see anybody actually using that. I prefer classic shave brush sizes for doing one pass shaves. I consider 24mm knots "big", and 20-22mm "normal". I shaved for years with a little Omega Syntex, which was great for bowl lathering.

Awesome sins! The only suggestion I'll give you on the 4th. I think your straight isn't being used because you only use that one straight razor. I have 4 in my rotation. I strop all of them on or hone them one evening instead of watching a movie. If you really want to use the straight you'll buy more of them to enjoy an amazing straight razor shave everyday!

YOU don't NEED a BRUSH: just rub cheap shave soap on your face. Dry your razor immediately, and it will last 100 shaves. Use CLEAN SHOWER shower cleaner to dry and protect the razor from rust.

coconut naturally doesnt have much of a scent. If they made it to strong artificially, it would not be pleasant. It's the mellowness that adds to the experience.

I don't like being gossip-y, but I've heard way too many bad things about Razor Emporium. I'd dig around for other places/people to send a very sentimental piece. There's individuals on the forums that do great work repairing/cleaning/tuning up vintage razors. I personally plan on sending my Gillette Senator to Chris @ RazorPlate for a fresh coat of nickel ($35!), just for the sake of being able to communicate directly with the individual who will be doing the job.
@6_pains
@6_pains 10 жыл бұрын
I've sent various razors to Razor Emporium and I've never had an issue. They were friendly, knowledgeable and kept me informed. Plus the razors came back looking amazing. But I guess experiences vary.

Bad things? The Razor Emporium is top notch! Not sure where you heard they were bad.
@nevermore311
@nevermore311 10 жыл бұрын
I read about 2 first-hand experiences on forums. I didn't buy into rumors or conjecture at first, but when I heard of specific examples of lost razors I figured it was worth looking elsewhere. Every business makes mistakes and it's possible that the stories I heard were embellishments from those made bitter. Any and all rumors aside, I would go with RazorPlate either way. Cheaper (for nickel), 1 guy, and no subcontracting. And that 1 guy happens to be a chemist who has directly demonstrated/shared his vast knowledge of metal with the community on a regular basis. Chris reminds me of Larry at Whipped Dog; very helpful and enjoys educating those who are curious. But to each his own, of course.
@jondubb35
@jondubb35 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Every business has its problems, for sure. You know, I've never had any problems with the Razor Emporium, but that doesn't mean I never will. There are definitely a ton of quality places in the wet shaving community to get our "gear" at and I definitely like supporting them all.

Not supposed to use aftershave on your face if it's an alcohol based aftershave...if it's traditional aftershave with alcohol in it you're supposed to apply it to your neck and back of the neck...alcohol dries your face out...
