I don't know why, but this song reminds me of all the memories I have of my dad before he died in February 2019. We used to just sit in his truck under the shade of the big oak tree in our yard and drink beer and talk about anything under the sun for hours, sharing our military experiences back and forth. I was closer to him than anyone else in my life, and this songs just triggers all that for me. Sometimes when I hear this song, its nothing but good memories and it makes me smile, but other times it just brings the hard tears. I love Seven Lions, regardless of which side I get.

Ironically, I always think of my recent ex with this song. She introduced me to it. Our first couple of months, I kid you not, were the best days of my life. Then she started becoming mean and emotionally abusive to me. I tried to so hard to make her happy, but it wasn't enough. We played this song a lot during our happy time of the relationship. Such a good song, I just wish she hadn't let her past trauma catch up to her and take it out on me. This song hits hard and I hope I can think of someone more special and better in the future when I hear this.

Last year, my first year as an EDM fan, I didn’t really know Seven Lions. I had heard the name, but I had never listened to any of his music. Then, in 2018, when Ocean came out, I listened to it and immediately loved it. Later, I decided to see Seven Lions during the Journey II tour. When he was performing, I heard this song for the first time (pun very much intended) and didn’t know it, so I Shazamed it and found it. Now, Seven Lions went from an unknown to my all time favorite in less than a year, and I consider this song the most melodically beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
