My grandpa had one of these...I haven't heard that sound in over 20 years since he passed, but it's apparently a sound I've never forgotten.

I am sorry to hear about your grandpa's past away. But it is also part of life. And yes, Dexta has very specific engine sound. That Perkins F3.144 is like a rock.

I've owned a Super Dexta for about 25 years now and always had good returns for my investments with it. HOWEVER, I and My father both learned the hard way about using starting fluid to start it. One time Dad had a low battery and he had tried a couple times to start it not knowing the battery was too far down each time, but he sprayed starting fluid into the air cleaner each attempt. Then he got a jump set up and this time it started, but it ran uncontrolled to a high speed and broke all the ring lands on the pistons. When it revved up, he shut it down and it stalled. Then he found there was no compression. When I came over, I pulled it with a truck and got it to run, but it had so much blow-by the oil could not return to the crankcase oil pan from the rocker arm cover and it began to blow jet-Black oil out the breather tube all over the pristine White snow. 3 new pistons w/ rings and pins and it was back on the job. Dad gave it to me and I did the same damage to the pistons when I started it up on starting fluid and was revving it up to get the air out of the injection system after filter changes. I had no idea I was over revving it. My experience with tractors was mostly Gasoline and they cold go up to 4,000 fairly easy. The only small Diesels I ever had anything to do with was in my job, I test drove the Chevy Chevette 4 cylinder Diesel made by Isuzu, and they revved easily over 4,500 rpm. So I was exceeding the safe rpm for the little Perkins 3 cylinder with it's cast aluminum pistons. I simply revved it up and broke the ring lands also. I did pull start it and I rearranged the breather to let it push out the blow-by gasses below the rocker cover and I used it to move snow for the day out of spite. But what a let down. Don't rev that little Perkins over 2,000 rpm or you'll need to replace the pistons. I know, I replaced them for Dad and again for me. ben/ michigah

@@benjamincresswell3713 Gretings! I am sad after read your painful experience. This Fordson Dexta's have diesel F3.144 & Super's have F3.152Cubic inches diplacement diesel engines and they are designed at the 1956~1957 and some modifications next years. I can say clearly this engines like bulletproof if owner know how to operate a diesel engine. Every 200 engine work hours, oil filter, air bath dirty oil must be renew. And it can be good replacing the diesel fuel filter if the areas diesel fuel is not good condition. And most diesel engines specially like this farming machine engines must be using around 1200~1800 rpm range for long long time servicing. And in the past, thanks to Fordson&Perkins engineers at the Dagenham factory, they are give farmers of all around the world a little but versatile and economical tractor. Last thing, you must be using air cleaner primer starters for just a littlebit, not to much, best thing is repairing the engine heater located on the air inlet (glow plug) before start the cold engine push the heater button at least 30 sec, and crank the engine and it will start quickly. Goodbye.

İf engine starting very hard, there is the a couple of reasons i think; if whether is extremely cold that can be. And if your engine needs rebuild, that can be. And last; if you wanna a good start up, than all conditions of engine is must be perfect. Gretings from Turkey.

Tavsiye eder misiniz? Yakıt olarak nasıl? Patinaj çok yaparmi? Yedek parça sıkıntısı var mı? Mf x35 ile kıyaslarsak nasıldır,

Merhaba. Şema yok. Büyük topuz(sol levye) sağ ileri 1. Vites aynı pozisyonda geriye çektiğinizde 2. Vites sol öne çektiğinizde 3. Vites. İleri kademeler 3 tanedir. Sol arkaya çektiğinizde 1. Kademe geri vitestedir. Sağdaki ufak seçiciyi geri çekerseniz vites kutusu hızlı konuma geçer (masseylerdeki tavşan) böylece yukarıda anlattığım konumlar 4. 5. 6. Olur. Ve hızlı geri. Dextalarda vitesleri karıştırmamak için yavaş ve pozisyonunda geçirmelisiniz.
