FML music video holds a special place in my heart, can't help but cry when they all get back together at the end. I feel like with coups shutting off the electricity, since he's the leader he takes charge of the group and looks out for everyone, and jeonghan being the counselor he was waiting on the beach for the rest of his members, he is their comfort and solace during the hard times. I love them sm for the message they put out and putting a new meaning to FML. And _world is just so vibey, one of my favorite dance practices too 😂

The whole concept for FML is Trueman Show. Seventeen have been obsessed with Truman Show for quite a long now. Also, the whole concept of Jeonghan is that he said in a interview or some episode once that he wants to be like an island where the members come to for solace, share things, or comfort. I am paraphrasing here but thats the general gist. So the boys ran to the island with Jeonghan once they understood they are constantly under surveillance. Also reflects the reality of their life too

If you think about it, SVT’s releases in 2023 have all been about mental health and uplifting one another to enjoy and live life to the fullest. From Fighting, FML, Ima-, SOS, to God of Music. They all break this hidden 4th wall between an artist and its listener. They don’t really beat around the bush bc they’re just as human as we are, they experience things (good and bad) like we do, and they’re never afraid of being REAL! SVT is really a group that utilizes their platform for the greater good, to spread positive awareness and light all over the world. World is such a happy pill song, I am not sure but world might be one of the biggest reasons I started digging deep into seventeen. As for Dino, yessss his laugh is probably one of my favourite sounds in the world. If he laughs, I laugh. I cannot believe we reached FML already, I can remember when we started off with SVT. FML as an album was my favourite kpop album in 2023 (ugh I can't wait for y'all to listen to it) and yet FML (the song) was my least played song. I could not finish the song without breaking down because of how close it hit home. It's like a stinging medicine I might say. Nonetheless SVT has helped me combat my life. 31:30 The monkey on the mirror is a Sun Wukong (SONOGONG/Super) reference. Because Sun Wukong is originally a fictional character from a Chinese novel (Journey to the West). Sun Wukong is a super powerful character and was originally a monkey. About the lyrics, Hoshi sang, "I wondered why I couldn't become be the main character like I would see." I think they mean why they couldn't be strong like the character. And in Super, there is a line like "Feel like I turn into SONOGONG", which probably means they feel strong and powerful and able to do everything and achieve their goal. I'm from East Asia, and I learned about the Journey to the West when I was young and I'm familiar with Sun Wukong, so that my guess on the monkey part. But it could be wrong, though.

I've shared this under other reactions regarding The Truman Show and "Super" connections: Woozi (a highly empathic INFJ) said he wrote this in the middle of the night, and it was very hard. He himself was going through a hard time (something similar to what's known as "the dark night of the soul). He said he had to dig deep and face all the "demons" and negativity that not only he was experiencing (think of their song "Shadow" which is all about doing shadow work and integrating/embracing your own "dark" side) but what people worldwide are facing right now, and it became very emotional for him and HARD to write the song. The purpose is to express what I would say the majority of the world's population are thinking/feeling right now, especially in those countries where people are under surveillance (Seungkwan in the corporate world, trying to escape like Truman did; DK finding a camera in his lamp and drones outside his window, so he smashes his TV which may also be spying on him; etc.), where everything wrong seems to be happening (Woozi doesn't even HAVE a driver's license on purpose, so trying to start a car and only the wipers coming on would be frustrating...just like when Truman's car wouldn't start), Mingyu having a stage camera fall on his car (just like the camera fell nearly hitting Truman in The Truman Show), Wonwoo trying to leave but getting blocked only to end up with it raining on only his right side (meaning the world is fake...there are SO MANY references to The Truman Show in this video it's unreal!), Joshua saying goodbye to a friend only to find a button pin just like Truman did. They're all trying to escape the "set" or "stage" of life, but keep getting blocked. Truman desperately wanted to go overseas in search of the TRUE love of his life, purchased tickets, but then was too afraid of the water to go. Woozi has a ticket, but keeps getting blocked...again, just like Truman did. The only way Truman could escape was to put a dummy in his bed (like Hoshi) so the producers of the show would think he was sleeping while he ran away. Did you notice that the drawing in the mirror that Hoshi is looking at is a monkey...referring to Sonongong...the mythical Monkey King of "Super"? Another thing I found significant is that as Dino is looking up at the night sky, the Big Dipper constellation changes into the Southern Cross. (The Cross.) The title of the book Woozi is reading is "Microwave and RF Design of Wireless Systems"...a tip of the hat to a "conspiracy theory" that we're being zapped with negative energies via technology (including our cell phones). It's significant that S.Coups finally walks over and turns off the lights on the set, indicating this life is nothing but a stage. Once the lights are out, that's when you see the ocean, with storm clouds forming in the background....just like the director of The Truman Show created to drown Truman once he finally beat his fear and got on a boat. TOO MANY references to the movie; and it's EXACTLY how people are feeling everywhere. Even Minghao (sitting among his personal items after being evicted from his home) said he's felt this way many times, and his only salvation--which is everyone's--was to find himself, which he does through meditation. So overall I think the video is beautiful...Seventeen letting CARATs know THEY UNDERSTAND what they're feeling...especially those in China and other tightly controlled countries...and that the way to overcome is to return to and find yourself. Don't quit, don't let the numbness (apathy) set in, don't hide your feelings by just laughing it off, don't fear your past self embarrassing you now because your past self isn't who you are now. And don't we all have a "secret" from the past that we're too ashamed to tell anyone? We can't let it define us NOW. FIND YOURSELF. FIGHT For Your Life (the billboards behind Jun read "Nothing Will Make You Happy", "Waves of Fear Coming To You"n "Never Make Mistakes" and "Avoid Challenges/Stay Safe"...the messages/propaganda of the world and what we must fight to find ourselves and WIN. I watched an interview with Vernon, Woozi and Hoshi. They were answering questions from fans, and the last question was, "In the next life, what would you want to come back as?" Woozi said if he HAD to come back he'd want to be a cat: someone to love and feed him, and he could sleep all the time. Vernon, however, said, "But what if I don't want to come back?" Paraphrased he basically said that this life isn't real and there's more beyond here. Hoshi immediately said, "This is The Matrix", to which Woozi said, "Yeah...this is The Truman Show."

There's this thing going on in FML MV that got me thinking that this is also them saying how "they got each other's back". So, we have the GENERAL LEADER S.coups, who turned everything off with that switch (considering that "everything" is a set like in TRUMAN SHOW) so his members can break away from it, hence we saw all of them at the end happily running towards JeongCheol (Jeonghan and S.coups). Then we also have Jeonghan, known as the VICE LEADER and THE COUNSELOR of the group (He and S.coups are who we call the PARENTAL LINE of SVT), who's like the safe haven and island for them. This reminds me of the Game Caterers interview where he said he waits for the members to open up about their worries and tries to listen to them as much as he can. Further, this theory can be reflected in the end as you can see Jeonghan waiting for the members to arrive. First we got S.coups who did a great job freeing the members, so he went to Jeonghan (fun fact: S.coups says that Jeonghan for him is like a firm tree, where he can get strength and has been his constant pillar of support). Finally, the members arrive running towards S.coups and Jeonghan, and look at them both giving the members the warmest welcome. edit: When you said that Jeonghan was holding onto the rope tightly as a symbol of safety, I also consider it as them saying that THAT is Jeonghan to them. He's like the SAFETY BUTTON of SEVENTEEN. But of course, these are all just my assumptions TT^TT

I'm sure that as idols they struggle with being in the public eye all the time. And yes, this is their job, but it can become a heavy weight. Even in our own lives each person struggles with the burden of what people think and imposter syndrome to some extent. I can imagine that each of them have gone through moments when it was just too difficult and they felt lost, a moment of "who even am I anymore?". We each go through these feelings. As idols those feelings must be heightened so very much. My very simplified and literal interpretation of the ending moments is that essentially they're all in the same boat (honestly we all are because we're all human and have our own struggles). Each of them were in different circumstances in the video just like how each person's struggles are unique. Because they have each other to lean on and trusted people who they can talk to about things they can gain strength together to push forward. I adore the song and video, and it makes my empathetic heart want to hug them all.

naaah bc the woozi shorts in world dance practice tho i remember seeing the tweet just last week that they never noticed jeonghan in his cast bc of woozi's shorts 😭 love the world choreo bc theyre just laughing, and theyre so chaotic even when theyre at the sidelines, jeonghan energetic as ever with that sling and ofc woozi shorts i hope you react to a compilation of dino and woozi world performances bc dino always adlibs his choreography and he always ALWAYS catch woozi by surprise i can still remember when f*ck my life title was revealed, it was hidden at first and i think they only revealed it after a while so everyone was so shookt bc svt never really curse on songs (except for like solos/units) but then they never really curse even in korean it doesnt directly translates to the f word honestly i still cant watch fml mv without cryinng it just hits so hard, and i love the message of fighting for your life ((also yes the mv is inspired by truman show)) also the monkey in mirror is sun wu kong (son o gong) since they mentioned wanting to be a cartoon character they wanted to be him a main character

for world, in my own perspective, because i become carat during Hot era, and during that era i feel like it's their biggest achievement. i mean they are always big and known, but during this ear, they get A LOT of new fans and the world is starting to recognize how amazing they are. they get a lot of awards and their sold out and successful world tour called Be The Sun. i feel like, personally, they are welcoming those who just starting to know seventeen in a form of song. because coups said that it's never to late to be a carat and they always welcome them. so, even though this song can be interpret in so many ways, but for me, since this album is my first comeback, as if they are giving me a warm welcome greeting as i enter the diamond life (that sounds corny, but trueee 😭)
