My grandfather passed and this song reminds me of him, such a hard worker and a great hunter. Showed me many things in life and took care of me when my mother left me and my sister. Many things I’ve wanted to say to him but it was all left unsaid, I’m forever grateful of the life he gave me and things he’s done for my family.

The music, the people the food, the landscape is still part of my heart. I left Newfoundland in 1956 but it has always been my home. As a senior I have travelled back every year for the past seven years to experience the land I never knew as a child. I love it and always take a friend with me. They love it and I will go again once COVID is over. Thanks for the wonderful music. I dance daily around the dining room table to the songs I love. Thanks for the memories.

I am from Black Duck, Born in Stephenville Crossing Hospital in 1967, grew up in a Town Called Kippens and later when I was a teen, Corner brook, I also sing and write songs, listening to Peter Jacobs makes me remember my roots and the upbringing we endured, we always appreciate the little things and what we had, We had the love of music in our souls and worked hard on the lands and seas to survive, winters were tetrus but we stayed warm with the love of family in our Hearts and wood stoves and most of all music, those were the days b'y and I sure miss them.

I tell ya that the key to a good song is in the voice of the singer but the key to a song that rips the heart open is this one!! Im 44 and finally left when i was 11 for good prior to that i mabey spent 6 or 7 years of my life out in the bay then moved to mount pearl to the time i left. not a day goes by i dont miss that rock. And everytime i listen to this i think of my mom my dad and their lives.. and my visits back throughout my life up to this point. I went from a bay whop to a townie gettin a hard time for my bay whop lingo from the townies.. when i went to alberta they called me a stupid newfie cause there wasnt many of us up here back 40 years ago, but they soon learned we were the best thing that could of happened to alberta. I am the walking legend of the saltwater cowboy!! Today with covid19 spreading like wildfire where we were born dont seem to matter anymore does it? Thats because we are one species and we are all one that god calls his sons and daughters. God bless you all and this song will always be a #1 on my charts..

Beautiful song! My dad left home years ago he lives in Alberta. He is not well and it makes me sad that he will never get to return to his home. This song reminds me so much of him. He loved his home but had to leave for reasons like alot of people left. Great song!

Great song Peter, you were shown to me by a friend that is from Newfoundland and he was blown away how we look so much alike. i have to say that he was right even my children thought i started a singing career. honestly sir we must be twins because it is very unsettling how alike we really are, other than i cant sing. I'm going to send the video link to my mother to see if she is fooled. keep up the great singing I'm really digging it.
