Severance writer Dan Erickson, Ben Stiller, Adam Scott, Tramell Tillman, and Zach Cherry sit down to unpack key elements in Severance episode 203. In this edition, they talk reintegration, goats, and the ultimate perk.
Severance Season 2 - New episodes Fridays. apple.co/_Sever...
In Severance, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.
In season two, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.
Season 2 reunites its ensemble cast of stars including Emmy Award nominee Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Emmy Award winner John Turturro, Academy Award winner Christopher Walken and Academy and Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette, and welcomes new series regular Sarah Bock.
Severance is executive produced by Ben Stiller, who also directs five episodes this season in addition to directors Uta Bresiewitz, Sam Donovan and Jessica Lee Gagné. The series is written, created and executive produced by Dan Erickson. Severance season two is also executive produced by John Lesher, Jackie Cohn, Mark Friedman, Beau Willimon, Jordan Tappis, Sam Donovan, Caroline Baron, Richard Schwartz, Nicholas Weinstock. In addition to starring, Adam Scott and Patricia Arquette serve as executive producers. Fifth Season is the studio.

I expected Mark would reintegrate this season, but I thought it would happen towards the end of the season, like episode 7 or later. Shocked that it happened so soon. They’re moving much fast than I expected and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

honestly such a nice surprise. so many shows end up dragging in the later episodes and you can feel them just trying to keep you along for that final punch. getting it so early though, I feel like we've crested the hill on a rollercoaster and have a long way down to go. its gonna be wild.

ME TOO! My theory is that for Episode 10, we'll have a mirror episode of what happened at the end of Season 1, where instead of the innies having to break out of Lumon, the outies have to break in to Lumon to rescue Gemma. Hopefully this show will continue to surprise and astound us along the way though.

The exchange between Milchick and Natalie was so sinister. Them both looking each other in the face, alone, but being watched, both knowing that a line has been crossed. Natalie saying that she received the same gift says to me that she was finding a subtle way to acknowledge that she knows what he’s feeling. You can see incredible distress on her face. Hugely uncomfortable, which is a testament to immersive acting. I hope Sydney Cole Alexander (had to google but probably not for much longer) gets bigger roles soon.

I didn't expect that something so impactful in the series would happen in this third episode. I think that with what we know, you can already see that everything that happened is just the tip of the iceberg. This series is a work of art and I wish more people knew it. I think it's totally boring at times and seems repetitive af. There's just so much time wasted in this show, like for instance walking down the corridors like they want you to see how long the corridors are or something...who the f cares.. they move so slow at times and freeze shots where I think the video is frozen...Art? lol no, sorry, I find it more like manipilates it's audience and tries to use cult tactics to lure ppl in especially with the goats. Goats? yeah they're prominent in pagan art i guess but this show is more of a comedy and that's why I watch and refuse to take it seriously like most of its fans

I believe the ones who don't get to leave are like Ms Casey who go down the elevator even deeper into Lumon. 🐇 White rabbit (Mrs Selvig car) isn’t the only reference to Lewis Carroll and Alice. In fact, Miss Cobel and Helena mirror the characters from another Carroll’s book 📖: "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There". Helena is the Red Queen (red hair)- she represents dominance, power, control and competitiveness. In her own words it takes her "all the running you can do just to keep in the same place". In evolutionary biology 🧬 the Red Queen Hypothesis represents the idea that species must constantly adapt and evolve in order to survive while pitted against ever-evolving opposing species. Miss Cobel is the ‘White Queen’. She represents irrational in this world. She lives in a non-linear world and experiences events before they happen. She strongly believes that cause and effect can be reversed and the idea of Impossible is just a trick of mind. In her world there are no limits. Her famous quote: "It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards". Does this explain why she gets confused when rubbish is collected ? Little Alice eventually becomes a Queen herself. She defeats the Red Queen and there remain only two Queens on the chess board again !

For a show that has been so original and fresh and devoid of Hollywood stereotypes, the Milchick painting scene was such a tired trope that we see in so many other shows and movies today. Season 1 was absolutely brilliant, with no mention of gender or race whatsoever. Then of course Apple TV execs get involved during the long hiatus, and a scene like this gets shoehorned in so the show is more "on message". It's the first small red flag for this show going woke.

After this last episode bringing race baiting out of left field just completely lost any sense it had. Ben Stiller eventually comes through w his ridiculous Hollywood agendas to manipulate any decent series. After what they just did my obsession w this show just ended. Made 0 sense

@@tatyologyat first I didn’t even realise it was race related because it made absolutely zero sense for the progression of the plot… just feels so absurd and forced

I don't know what's wrong with the American shows these days? Why do they give a high status for the African - Americans in their shows??? Like here two of the high ranked Lumon employees are black! It seems they want to make up for them the discrimination they suffer in the real living in the USA.
