Thanks for the comment Knight Night. If we weren't able to secure more severance pay for our clients than what they were originally offered, our firm would simply not exist.

is my 1 time severance pay or separation pay effect my eligibility to CERB i collected? i dident know my job was going to be terminated and i had a few hours bringing my employment income just under $1000 but my severance would put me just over the $1000 .. it says on the gov website that severance dose not effect my eligibility.. but do they mean it wont count in the $1000?

HI Aquarius. Your severance pay does NOT affect your eligibility for CERB. It should have no bearing on your income, and will not push you over the $1,000 threshold, meaning you would still qualify. Take care.

I am on disability pay. In addition I work for church at hourly rate. I am a contact employee who's contact is renewing every year. I have been layed off. And now they are demanding police clearance for reinstatement as part of yearly contact. Please advice.

Hi There! After being laid off in March I applied for EI. But those payments become cerb payments $1000 for two weeks but my bank says it was sent by EI. I just got officially let go the beginning of June then received over 2K severance pay the next day. I claimed on EI that no I didn't work any hours but I made X between June 1st-14th. They still gave me $1000. Is this a mistake?

Hi Aaron. This applies to Canada only, specifically Ontario and British Columbia. We do not, at this time, practice employment law in the United States. Please take care.

I earnestly hope n pray that everyone who has any part in making things So hard for those that don't want the uneeded dose have to face more hardships than they're helping to put on others. Force or fire there's no "leave" funny how when cops break the law they get a paid leave but when innocent Ppl don't want a vax that doesn't make the workplace anymore safe, vaxxed can still get it and give it, the innocent Ppl aren't allowed the benefits that they paid into. That's a crime. And, because Justin Trudeau "updated" that too if an unvaxxed person can't collect employment insurance if their boss still holds their morals with regard and let's the employee go instead of putting them on an "unpaid leave" , then the Ppl in those scenarios shouldn't have to pay into employment insurance, it would be an outright theft by the government to make Ppl pay into something that they aren't allowed by the government to collect when needed.
