My personal theory is that it's an experiment. They're not actually doing any real work. The company is just perfecting the technique so they can then sell it to the govt. and corporations. I mean, think of the CIA or any company where the work done has to be kept highly confidential. If employees have no knowledge of what they do on the job once they leave the job site then secrets are safe, guaranteed. It also makes it possible for companies to abuse their staff with impunity. If employees can't remember how they're treated on the job when they leave at the end of the day, then they can't be whistle blowers.

Funny thing about someone choosing to do a procedure if they saw it done first. In college I had experimental elective jaw surgery done. The doctor said the recovery would be easy and not painful. But it was actually absolute hell for over 4 weeks. So very painful. Afterwards he told me that he lied about the pain because if I had known the truth, I wouldn't have done the surgery. And he wasn't wrong.

My theory is they're weeding out the bugs in the algorithm for severance, so they can do it to more people without them freaking out like Helly. Would explain why the numbers seem scary. The chip in their brain is reacting to it.

Without any particular evidence to support it, my going theory is that their perceptions of what they are doing is just a cover for some other tasks that they are actually doing. Maybe the numbers seem scary because there's a little bit breaking through the subconscious, telling them that something messed up is happening right now.

Aaahhh I’m so excited for you to watch the rest of the show! It gets better and better with each episode. It has become one of my favorite shows! Interesting! Does anybody know if they changed the intro at some point? I watched it maybe a year ago on Apple TV (does it run anywhere else by now?). And the animations in the intro were slightly different if I remember correctly: same style, different images.

Mr Milcheck said they the innies ar and protected from things like death. Well that's a bald face lie because like Mark said, if you leave and never come back, your innie is essentially dead. So Mark is totally within his right to mourn Petey. Man,this is concept gets more and more disturbing the more you rewatch it. I think this is my 6th time seeing the show and it gets better everytime.
