The thing that struck me most about Lumon's lies was how they manipulated the innies' perception of time. They led Mark to believe 5 months had passed, when in reality, it had only been two days. Which means that by the time they hired Dylan and Irving back, they must have made all the changes to the severed floor - the new painting in the entrance lobby, the new layout of the Break Room, the fake newspaper, removing all the cameras and making the whole stop-motion animation... All of that to convince the innies that their actions had led to some major cultural moment outside and started genuine reform inside the company, when in reality, the incident was basically swept under the rug and had no wider cultural impact (though I bet Helly's speech will be suspicious and still be brought up by anti-Lumen activists). And the crazy thing is that it kinda worked. While they clearly don't believe Milcheck about the reforms, when first seeing Dylan, Mark repeats the lie that they were gone for 5 months. So they're working with a completely warped timeline in their heads: everything they do, they'll think it happened 5 months later than it actually did.

well Mark S. did work with the new MDR crew for a few days… it was shown in montage, so I assumed it was probably a few weeks or months until the rest of the old crew back back… but then Mark W.’s outie says he only worked for three days, so they even manipulated me 🤷🏻♂️

It's interesting that we've seen nothing about Milcheck's backstory. Are we sure that Milcheck himself isn't severed, and like Ms. Casey, he's a permanent innie -- but unlike Ms. Casey, he's a full-time, 24/7 innie who, for whatever reason, never returns to his outtie version? We see him spend all his waking hours at Lumon, or out doing something on behalf of Lumon. Not once have we seen him do anything else. We've never seen him arrive at work, go home after work, eat, sleep, or even take a break. He hinted at how long he physically stays at Lumon in S1 when he mentioned to Hellena that he loves watching the morning sun shine on Keir's image in the lobby. Last season, during Burt's retirement party, innie Irve went off on Milcheck, calling him out for not understanding what it's like to be severed -- this seemed to trigger Milcheck more than usual and it's one of the few times we saw him lose his temper. Did Irve hit a nerve in Milcheck because he knows he's a permanently severed innie whose outtie version is completely erased, similar to Ms. Casey? Perhaps, among other things, Lumon is seeking to build an army of permanent 24/7 innies like Milcheck, unconditionally loyal and who exist only to serve Lumon and Kier.
@kevinw712Күн бұрын
I know one of the theories out there is that Milchick actually has a grudge against Lumon and in his own sort of indirect way is ultimately on the side of the innies and wants to bring the company down, it's just that he's playing an extremely subtle, nuanced and long game

im not american so i take health care for granted if you take on a job. but at his interview his first question not being workhours, wage or about the job but on health care for him and his family sounds to me like he is under big pressure because either his new baby or his wife are in need of health care and that big payment and full ride health care with lumen ;which are somewhat connected to health and medication; were his motivation to take on the job in the first place.

its super interesting that you mention the titles of the episodes. The german titles are very different. And maybe more telling about what could happen. EP 201 : Radical changes EP 202: What is it with gemma? EP 203: Five questions. Again? Id LOVE to hear your opinion on all that!

They show him wake up back to his outtie and grab his son. His kid is real. Whether there is still 3 of them is another story. We only see one but the innie is told there are 3.

Dillon definitely has the family... literally everything about Dillon's scene in this episode is consistent with what a man with a wife and kids would experience when faced with an unexpected loss of income. Even the scene after the interview, when he's speaking to his wife from the car, he ended the call asking if they need baby wipes... Not showing the kids or his wife seems like a business decision to not waste time or money on sets or actors when it won't add anything to the story

Great video, but I'm not sure I follow the theory about Dylan's fake family - how would that work?
@Sam_T2000Күн бұрын
I think the promise of letting innie Dylan see his family is probably fake… either the visitation room will never be finished, or the family he meets will be actors… but yea, seems unlikely his outie family is fake.

I'm not sure I entirely get the 'Dylan has no family' theory. Why would the outie dylan talk to a fake wife on the phone? What motivation would he have for that?

I feel like there's a pun in the door company being called Great (Out) Doors, reminding Dylan he is indeed on the outside. Love your stuff since the earliest GOT times, thanks for another great review!
@kevinw712Күн бұрын
also I think it's an inside joke because I believe Dan Erickson used to himself work at some kind of door related company, it might even be while he was there that he first had the idea for the show. I just love how they fucked with us with the trailer, like they absolutely knew what they were doing in casting that guy to look so much like Zach Cherry, making us think it was some weird cloning shit or something lol when it's just an outside interview Dylan was on
@damian_madmansnest18 сағат бұрын
Why would they need Helena to spy if they literally can record and watch everything happening on the severed floor? It completely did not make sense to me. Now that we see her personal change, and motive this Helena theory seems much more plausible to me.

I'm super curious on how you'd think Lumon is faking Dylan's wife. His outie would know if he is married or not lol and he mentions in that scene talking to her in the car that he's going to pick up baby wipes so outie Dylan knows he has at least one child and is married

@ I think the two last episodes of Silo S2 were great, although they only half-way made up for the frustrating preceding eight episodes, to me. I mean,. they were slow in a disjointed and uninteresting way, while this was still a good episode of Severance.

Where did Tramell Tillman come from anyway? The casting in general for this show is incredible, from John Turturro down to Ricken’s non-dinner dinner guests. But Milkshake steals every scene he’s in. Love/hate that guy.
@boblangford8121 сағат бұрын
Cobel flips her switch around Mark because she hates him. She said to Helena that Mark must be punished. My theory is she was driving her granddaughter, and Mark and his wife hit Cobel, killing her granddaughter. It was probably perfect timing as Lumen needed one final guinea pig. They grabbed Mark's wife making it seem like she was killed, and fueled his grief to get him to take the job.

@Taliysin8 сағат бұрын
I genuinely kind of forgot until I was listening to you talk about the issue, but Mark‘s outtie should know that he was the cause of this overtime contingency because he gave himself the security pass. My new theory is that we missed some time in Mark’s life where he went back to visit the doctor from season one after the overtime contingency and she’s the one who talked him into going back to lumen. I think that might be also why he’s having a strange relationship with his sister right now because he’s trying to protect her by not telling her what he knows
@chrisfoye1574Сағат бұрын
RubOliver. In the scene of Devine and Mark. His grief...progression is stunted. Devin has been dealing with it 24/7 and he is still raw. He has just ignored it and is just a wounded nerve ending. That was the disconnect in the grief scene.
@kevinw712Күн бұрын
It's a very intriguing prospect, the idea that Helena is going undercover more for personal curiosity than like corporate subterfuge, but I think there's some logistical issues there. like at the very least, I think she'd need to have help (maybe even that one security guard) in doing whatever it is to make sure the mechanism in the elevator that switches all their chips is disengaged when she goes into it, etc (many have pointed out how you don't seem to hear a 2nd "ding" like you did with the others, and we never get to see the triangle above the elevator door potentially change color because the camera's pushed in so close on her by then)
@CSLintheCASINO23 сағат бұрын
I haven’t heard anyone talk about HOW Helena prevented the innie transition in the elevator. Especially if she’s doing it rouge.

It will break my heart if Dylan’s family is not real. (My husband thinks this, too, but I just can’t.). It’s so sweet that his innie believes all kinds of refutable nonsense, that he’s famous, that he’s a body builder! That he was just a sweet guy with a nice family was so endearing.
