It will be interesting to see how you tackle such a major fuselage repair. Perhaps the owner should consider paying you for some general training on how to inspect his airplane before flying it. His last flight seems to have required more than one miracle to keep him alive!

@@PlaneSafeSam I did (and part 1 also). Perhaps my comment wasn't clear, it had nothing to do with your inspection. It was that the owner might want to consider further education on when a plane is safe to fly and what to look for in a pre-flight. At 3:10 in the video it's clear that the stabilator is nearly FALLING OFF! This didn't happen just in the last landing and has nothing to do with the nose wheel issue. I am surprised it didn't lead to a catastrophic in-flight failure and subsequent lack of control crash.

@@gregcharest443 I apologize as I totally mistook your response. We always try to keep our customers involved in all of the work and process of inspections. We welcome our owners to come in and spend time with us to learn their airplanes. I think in this case, there are a lot of assumptions regarding how everything transpired. At this point, I don't think we will really know what ultimately caused the stab bracket rivets to fail or when it totally failed. All we can do now is thank God that nothing happened and that he had his hand over the owner. Needless to say, we were shocked to see the stabilator hanging on by that one screw. I really cannot imagine the airplane being able to fly with it like that. There was absolutely no indication at Annual that there was any issue. We lift up on the stab and look at the brackets just like I do during a preflight on my Musketeer, there was absolutely no movement. The only thing he made us aware of was the intermittent shimmy. I really hope this discussion helps somebody in the future, either to look very closely at the stab bracket and rivets and also the nose gear if someone experiences a "more than normal" shimmy.
