Just recording an approaching storm when a tornado warning was issued in Tulsa and then eventually Broken Arrow. You can hear the confusion in my voice once the tornado sirens start going off.

Were you there when that EF-5 leveled Andover Kansas in 1991?,they recently in 2022 had an EF-3, but I'm from Wisconsin and my city was taken by surprise on April 4th 1981,it hit after midnight,it wasn't seen on radar very few seen it,it killed a few, injured a lot,caused 20 million in damage had over 200MPH winds,was rated EF-4 and the tornado was anticyclonic

I notice when the sirens shut down, expect destruction withinn 5-10 minutes. SO much better than it being in your back yard like most people grew up with.
@bdcoley32 жыл бұрын
How they typically do it in my area is they sound the sirens for a good 5-8 minutes and then unless a warning is reissued, expanded, or continues they’ll just leave it be. My city is also on a citywide system and there have been many times where I’m nowhere close to being in the warning but the sirens near my house go off.

Those sirens aren’t called Air Raid Sirens it’s either “Outdoor Warning Siren” or what most people refer them as “Tornado Sirens”. They’re still new yes, they’re all now digitally used. Most of the analog sirens of what I call them Whelens as that the the actual name of those sirens, most of the analog ones were replaced. Most of Oklahoma however wasn’t all Whelen sirens, it was a mix of sirens that were installed as both Cold War & Weather Alert siren around the 70’s & 80’s. I mean they go way back but they were repurposed as Weather Alert sirens in the 70’s.

You know, Tulsa and the surrounding area isn't actually that flat. There's lots of hills. But we're still beholden to the unique weather, because this is the place the north winds, the south winds, and the southwest winds collide. Much respect to you and whatever natural phenomena you might deal with, too!

Severe thunderstorm warning, tornado warning and tornado sirens. Wow. Here in Toronto Canada we're lucky if we get a drop of rain all summer. We just had a rainfall warning this morning but it rained normally. The warning did continue till late afternoon but didn't see a drop within that time. Then the warning ended. Really? What kind of a warning was that? What you guys get those are real storms. But in winter here, even if it's not in the forecast it will still snow. I would love to see a severe thunderstorm for once here in Toronto but nothing happens. Back in the day yes we used to get them but for the last 10 years I don't know what happened. To see a good thunderstorm I would have to go on KZbin and that's how I found this video. Loving it.
