Just grab some sweet tea and sit on the porch and watch the storm pass. If you see the tornado, seek shelter

Okie here, all 38 years. You guys staying in that camper with the sirens going off was quite the gamble. Thats the very worst place you could have been. I just live about 25 miles from where yall were, wish i had known, you guys could have parked in my driveway and had access to my shelter. As long as a couple of old bulldogs didnt bother yall, i never go in my shelter without my "kids."

Ryan Hall Y’all is a great weather channel on KZbin 😉
@DisasterAstor
@DisasterAstor Жыл бұрын
There's a lot of great weather resources outside of the Hall ecosystem that are also worth checking out. The Hall crowed trends towards sensationalism in a way that muddies the waters of weather communications and I don't know if that's really a net benefit. They're primarily in specific corridors of the US where they're very good, but if you're a person who is frequently traveling then you're going to be served more by keeping tabs on the weather ahead using local sources. Local NWS offices are all on Twitter and other social media, as well as the Storm Prediction Center. Local News Stations are going to be able to give you a lot of information as well. These are some of the places where Weather Chasers such has the Ryan Hall Y'all crowd will be getting their information from. Diversify where you get your weather from. There's going to be a lot you can avoid by learning how/where weather forms and there's a lot of people out there who are doing a lot of good work/content to teach that to others. There's also a lot of overlap in emergency preparedness and weather so it's good to learn what kind of severe weather events are present in different parts of the US and what you should and shouldn't do during severe weather. I've lived in my RV for 5 years now and am also a wheelchair user. Love the content.

My RV rule about dangerous weather is to do one of three things, whichever makes the most sense. Option 1 is to move the RV out of the path of the storm. Something you could not do in this case, but if you can, move away. Option 2 is to move the RV to a safer location, away from trees and other things that can fall, and where there is a shelter you can get to that is nearby. In an RV park there is almost always a storm shelter on the property, know where it is and be ready to get there. A store is often a good shelter so if you are out on the road parking at a store like a Walmart that is open is a good choice. Also park close to the side of the building if you can so that your RV is more protected from the wind. Option 3 is abandon the RV and go to a hotel and stay in the hotel till the storm is gone. I once just booked a room at a hotel and left my RV in a campground for the night. Expensive, but safer and did not interrupt the trip. Those are the things we do. Glad you are ok.

I was born and raised in Oklahoma City, and now live in a suburb of OKC in Edmond, Oklahoma. Trust me, I am just as afraid of tornadoes as you guys are. Every time tornado sirens go off, I’m terrified!😬

Welcome to the midwest lol. We had a tornado pass right by our house about 5 or 6 years ago. Super glad we weren't home at the time! If the sky turns green or you hear a sound like a train... worry! Otherwise you're probably ok. Tornado watches are like a constant thing when they say tornado WARNING it's time to take notice.

Yeah it really wasn’t fun! It’s crazy that where we tried to find shelter a tornado touched down literally 4-5 blocks away! Not an experience we will ever forget and not something we want to experience again 😂 we probably will one day because we like the states around tornado alley! We will keep in mind the green sky and sound of a train for in the future

@@NicholetteBrian the sky really does turn green! It’s freaky. I think it’s because the storms get so tall they alter the normal light diffraction and they really do look green! Like something you would see in a movie effect

I hope everyone was ok during those storms. A respectful word of advice. If you don't know what do do when tornado sirens go off... LEARN! It could literally be a life and death difference. Chances are that you will be fine and a tornado if it exists will pass you, but not always. You can't shelter in your RV in a tornado warned storm which won't stop for your RV or any trees around. P.s the video is cool and it looks like you guys are having a great time tornadoes aside.

I am from eastern Pennsylvania we didn’t have tornadoes where I was. We moved to Georgia a few years ago & there’s watches warnings regularly. I get so worked up too😩 thankfully nothing too bad here. We had a lightning strike outside my bedroom window one night though. Burned the road. I have a heart condition both my mom & step dad came running over to my room😟I wish we lived in a world where there were no such thing as tornadoes!

You know you can usually watch the live local weather for where ever you are as it's usually broadcasted live in youtube by the local TV stations when there are severe weather outbreaks. The other day from here where I live in Florida I was watching KOKO's live youtube broadcast of a Tornado outbreak. So you can always just search thru youtube for live weather/news for whatever area you are in. :)

This wasn't an option for this tornado sadly. It surprised everyone and people got a few hours warning. There was no avoiding it and it came out of nowhere so checking the weather would have shown that there was no reason to shift our plans and timeline. That being said we do actively check the weather as most people who travel do. Thanks for watching!

Your video just popped up on my feed and caught my eye so I had to watched it. Smiles, we were there, in Norman, that night as well. We were staying over at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds rv park. It was wild. The skies, the hail, the winds, and stuff folks did not put away that went airborne. That tornado touched down a few miles away by highway 9 and started its horrific path of destruction that went for miles. When we left Norman in late June, the damage from the tornado was still visible in many places. So sad. During the high winds of the storm that night, we heard a hard thud and felt our motorhome rock. The next morning we came outside to see a plastic one piece lawn chair with one leg broken off laying between our rv and our car with the leg about ten feet further away. Seems the chair had been picked up by the winds from a rv three spaces over from us, lifted over the two rvs between us and slammed into our entry door hard enough to leave a dent on the outside of the door. Our door skin is 1/4 inch thick steel and still that plastic chair made a dent, smh. We put the broken chair and its broken leg out in front of our motorhome before we left for a few hours and it was gone when we returned.

Just found your channel and live in Norman OK area most of my adult life , grew up around the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. If you are ever back this way take a few hours to enjoy the refuge full of buffalo and wildlife. Glad you both made it through our typical storms here. Sirens are definitely a duck and hunker down situation. God bless you both and continued blessings in your adventures together.

PRAISE GOD FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS... We pray for God to keep you kids safe and to bless you above and beyond your dreams. And this video shows the God iiiis hearing and answering our prayers... God put you kids just in the right safest spot for that storm. That storm could of came that few blocks over, BUT it couldn't because God had you kids there... 9yrs. ago I was going through Arkansas on my motorcycle on the hwy watching the storm rolling in for a few hours. I tried to out run it BUT FAILED. I got to a rest stop just in time. With in minutes of me getting inside the men's restroom. That storm hit hard. Knocked a few trees over along with a few tractor-trailers. But we all were safe that were in the rest area. Both sides of land were tore up but the rest area was not touched. People said we were lucky, I told them NO LUCK HAD NOTHING TO WITH IT. God put HIS hand of protection on that rest area and spared us all from the storm... Well we'll all keep praying for you kids with much love. Be blessed in Jesus name... BBE...
