Behind this song: iHeartRadio: Have you ever wished you kept a song you wrote for yourself that ended up going to another artist? Sevyn: "I have actually, yeah. It was a song that I wrote that was very personal for me. Before I wrote it, I was on the floor with a producer by the name of Bryan-Michael Cox, and I was talking to him, and the writer that I wrote it with named Ashley Rose, and I was really just upset and going through it with this guy. And we had like a three hour therapy session before we even started writing the song. So, we ended up writing the song, and it was called 'Pieces.' And some time went by and 'Pieces' actually ended up being cut and placed on Tamar Braxton. And, a part of me was like, I felt like a part of my heart was ripped out. And just like, they just took it and it was just over there because that song, God, it has like such sentimental value for me. And, thank God it was Tamar because she did the song, did more than justice. So, you know, it wasn't as hard to let go, but that was definitely a hard one for me."
