The Edie dress looks fabulous on you. I love the fabric too. I also like your hair with a little curl in it. Very flattering. I'm supposed to be sewing now but I'm here watching your videos. They are inspiring. Keep them coming.

Hi Rachel - The b/w dress is lovely on you. I would definitely suggest you check into the swayback adjustment. It can be as easy as a simple wedge slash on the pattern from CB to side side seam; once you do it, you'll never go back! I have the same problem and am really happy I know about the alteration. Alexandra Morgan (among others) has good tutorials. Keep it up!

Ooh your dress is so pretty. I adore the neckline. I have never done a swayback adjustment, either, but think I may need to look into it. Thanks for giving us a peek at the book and pictures. Very nice!😄

I LOVE that dress that you're wearing. I've not tried the Sew Over It patterns although I've bought indie patterns from the United States. Thanks for the video.

I just bought the new Capsule Collection yesterday. I can’t believe you’ve already made a dress. The fabric is perfection and the dress looks amazing on you. I LOVE that you’re going for the new Mac/Trench coat in September. You’re blazing the trail for us nervous Nellie’s! Well done..

That Edie dress looks wonderful on you. I have this ebook and looked at the Edie but I don't think I would look as lovely in it as you do! I may sew the top. The patterns only go up to size 20 so I have to enlarge them at least one size but, even then, with the Edie I am afraid I would look like a sack of potatoes in it!! I don't have a lovely figure like yours!
@Penguinandpear6 жыл бұрын
That was quick!!! You dont mess around, lol. Lovely dress!! I loved the first e-book, it really spoke to me, but I must admit to feeling a bit blah about this one. Maybe I will warm to it once I see everyone making up the patterns. It might also be because my figure isnt really suited to those patterns, whereas yours most definitely is! Cant wait to see more of your makes from this ebook coming up!!

I’ll never sew sleeves the flat way anymore after a near fail with a pattern that had too wide shoulders and a deformed sleeve. I couldn’t asses that when I attached the sleeve on the flat because you can’t try it on until the end. So the traditional way does have its advantages because you can asses the fit on the shoulders beforehand and also the sleeve. I don’t this it’s wrong that it’s instructed that way. Your dress is lovely and I love the print. I like the “almost” bodycon styles too. Not loose and not too tight. I like only the blouse versions of the Kate/Dana and the pants on the jumpsuit. I’ve already assembled the PDFs for those.

Hi Rachel, great review and when I saw it, I loved it too. As I'm not a huge fan of dresses for myself, I really loved the cropped Darna shirt with the covered placket and the coat is adorable. I'm a bit behind on purchasing Lisa's first capsule wardrobe book...which I'm hoping to get very soon 👍. I love the jersey dress on you and such a comfy and flattering fit 👌. I think the jumpsuit would look fab on you Rachel 😁. Looking forward to seeing your makes from this ebook..... happy sewing 😊😘

I do like several of the garments in the E-book but not all of them enough to have to print and stick them together or pay for all the printing. I would buy it if it was a printed pattern. Your dress is beautiful. You are right, the boat neck really suits you and the fit and the fabric are so flattering. I like your curls too! I look forward to seeing more, especially the coat.

Love your review - your Edie dress is fab! Isn't it funny that the Kate is your least favorite - as it my first choice! The e-book has such a wide variety that it is hard to decide what to make first!

You look gorgeous in this dress. May I ask how tall you are as I am 5ft 10 & find SOI and Tilly patterns need length adjustments. Thanks x
@StitchedUp6 жыл бұрын
thank you Susan, I am 5'10 too and always lengthen patterns (apart from Named and Tessuti), I tend to add 1" to the waist and 2-3" to skirt/trouser lengths, all I did with this was add 3" to the bottom x

How is the neckline finished? Is it similar to the coco top by Tilly? I'm tempted but am trying not to buy the same patterns over and over....... I also like the Jennifer Lauren gable top........ Dress looks great on you
@StitchedUp6 жыл бұрын
It is stabilized with stay tape and then simply turned over and sewn, it does work pretty well, I have only sewn the funnel necked version of the coco that is finished differently x

I think your Edie dress is lovely. As a whole I felt the styles looked a bit frumpy except the Mac and Dana dress. . I have so many patterns I may wait to order this but as last time saw so many Molly tops I bought the e book for one pattern really😁
@StitchedUp6 жыл бұрын
I think they can border on the frumpyness if you're not careful Ruth depending on styling, fabric choices etc xx

This was fun! I laughed when you said how much you missed your sewing machine on holiday - only other sewists would get that :) Just an idea....if I were going to make a coat and it had button holes I would have a professional tailor do them for me. There is NO WAY I would take all that hard work (as you say) and take the risk of completely destroying it with buttonholes at the very end. Well worth the extra few dollars to pay a tailor to be sure they would come out professional :)

Whaw! You're quick! Just bought the ebook yesterday after seeing Lisa's presentation video. Love your version of the Edie. Like the fabric. You say you made the midi-version, didn't you? On Lisa it looks longer (I mean the grey version on p 19). Nice to hear your thoughts. Agree with most. Differ on the two other dresses: love the Kate with the nipped in waist and the flared skirt because I know that silhouette fits me well (defined waist and richly filled hips). For same reason I'm not sure of the Dana; expect it to be too loosefitted and boxy for me. Looking forward to seeing your trenchcoat!
@StitchedUp6 жыл бұрын
thanks Lily, I would think Lisa is a fair bit shorter than me, I added on 3 inches to the length and probably could have added a bit more to make it more midi length but I'm happy with it, I like the Kate dress, but I'm not keen on it as a skirt xx
@lilybogaards50896 жыл бұрын
Stitched Up! Thank you for your reply. Good to know you already added quite a bit. I'm 5 ft 7(? 1.75 m in the for me more familar metric system) so will have to definitely lengthen the patterns if I want to have a length similar to the picture. Totally agree that yours looks great on you. I could end up with similar length but would like to try it longer to start with. Can always chop it off.
