I have had surgery for L4/L5 where they just removed the bulging part, it was many years ago now but I learned a couple of things that really helped by attending an intense pain clinic. They taught us things to relieve some of the pressure and pain. The first was if ironing, cooking, anything where you’re standing for any length of time to raise one foot, when cooking , for instance, just open a cupboard door and put your foot just inside . Raising the foot just that much tilts the spine and eases the pressure. When ironing I used a small foot stool with the same affect. When laying flat on my back I was advised to put pillows under the bottom part of my legs until my knees were 90% from my body and then tuck a pillow behind my head grabbing the bottom corners and tugging down until my head fell back so my back from shoulders to bottom was totally flat to the bed. Placing a gel ice pack in the painful spot and resting for awhile really helped. The last thing I’ll mention is pillows are my friends, I sleep with one between my knees and up toward my bottom as that raises my top leg so my spine is in the correct position with no strain on the muscles, facets or discs. Sorry to have gone on forever but I understand how painful it is and how it wears your spirit down when you get no relief. Take care of you, I’ve recently found your vlogs and I’m really enjoying catching up on them. I just love your stripy socks, they’re just sweet. Maybe your too big cardigan could work for a lovely warm bed jacket until you figure out what you will do about it. My grandmother swore that wool helped ease her arthritis pain and I must say it’s proved true for me many times. Happy Vlogmas✨🎄✨

Hello Jooles, I so enjoy your vlogmas along with your regular videos. You are such a sweet spirit and always calming. You always make me smile. :) I enjoyed seeing all of your projects and mini's. Your plants are wonderful too. I could only grow a few kind. I did better with my garden plants. I hope in time your treatments do help you. I know back pain is the worst, I know that kind of pain. It can be unbearable at times and I hate that you have to deal with it! I adore your home and find myself always looking behind you as I listen to you speak lol. Sorry if that sounded a bit rude. I have my own room now but do miss my home I once had. Life happened and I now live with my daughter. She spoils me daily which means I did well lol. I was able to buy one of your pins so I think of you often when I see it on my bag. I pray you have a lovely night and look forward to seeing you very soon. Please give sweet Mable a hug from me.* Take care, Sharon

Loving your vlogmus. It brings a smile to my day. I've had the most horrible start to December & you have certainly brightened it. Mable is darling! Your cardi, I would steek the sides. A pretty woven ribbon pulled through the ribbing would bring that in a bit in your shoulders if needed. It's too lovely to give away. I'm sure you can save it!

I have an idea similar to one of the other suggestions about a tie. Pick up some stitches at waist level , both front and back, knit a semi loose band and graft them in the middle. That would gather the sides in a little but not pull the garment out of shape. You could even make a feature of it by using one of the colours from your colour work or even repeating part of the design or knitting it in rib. The other advantage of picking up stitches (maybe about 15?) Is that you could pull the band out if you didn't like it without doing any harm to what you have already created.

The basket full of newly washed knitwear looks so beautiful. A sweet collection of mugs. The Christmas cake looks amazingly delicious 💞🌟🌿. A couple of weeks ago I sprained my ankle. I have been applying Magnesium and Arnica gel for inflammation. It has helped. While talking with a friend the other day he suggested I take turmeric which is great for inflammation. Morning and night - mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of water. Mix very well and drink. It has helped a lot. May help ease some of your pain ❤️

I would sew a seam down the back of the cardigan to take out the extra ease. You would have a seam line but at least it would fit you. Second to that I have sewed a seam in on the side but it looks like it wouldn’t fit the extra ease in the back.

New viewer and I am thoroughly enjoying your vlogmas and I've also started watching your podcasts from the beginning. I think your floozy looks great! How about picking up the cast on edge at the neck and knitting another rib...the line from the pick up becomes a feature and can look really good. But I actually like the over sized look on you 😍

I think the cardigan is just lovely! I think it looks great loose fitting! And it really suits you like that. Looser fitting clothes have also a slimming effect and who doesn`t want that, lol. ;-) Wear it and be proud of your wonderful knitwork. Again: I think it looks wonderful on you! Huggs, Christina. Had to write this real quick before I watch the rest of the Vlogmas now ;-) hihi P.S. My son took me to the theater 2 weeks ago to watch the second part of Magical Beasts... So great! :-)

For the colorwork cardigan, have you thought about taking it in on the sides, under the arms down, like you would a fabric garment, reinforcing the seams and cutting away the excess?... If all else fails, make a cushion out of it. A few other house plants that clean the indoor air: Chlorophytum comosum (spider plant), Sansevieria trifasciata (snake plant), peace lily, Boston fern, golden pothos, wax begonia, and red edge dracaena. I try to keep a pot or two in each room.

Hi Jooles. Love the floozie sweater. sorry its too large. could you sew up the arms as needed and sew into the side seam? They sew them by machine in... Norway? Anyway, you might be able to rescue it. Id's try that before I gave it away. Good luck!

Well pooh about your Floozy sweater - so discouraging! I went on a sweater knitting strike last year b/c it seemed every one I knit was too big, too small, wrong color or something 🤷🏻‍♀️. But this year, I fell for Lilalu’s Reagan cardi, and it knit up like a dream. I’ve been on a sweater knitting frenzy ever since, so don’t give up! 🥰

I love, love, love your floozy. Do you have a friend you could gift it too? Someone who would appreciate all the love and work you put into it, and understand how special it is because of the memories you knitted into it? I know I would treasure such a beautiful gift. Failing that I'm sure that one of your followers would be delighted to buy it from you, when you feel ready to sell. If I could afford to I'd would adore to own such a beautiful hand knit. I wish my Mum was still here, she always made me lovely things. I still have many of the things she made me, even though they no longer fit me 😄 Thank you for taking the time to do Vlogmas. Really enjoy watching your kitchen exploits. Wishing you every success with your back treatments too. I can sympathise and empathise. Take good care of yourself. xXx😘💕

Good morning darling girl. How lovely to watch you with my first cup of coffee, while enjoying the quiet of the morning. I've paused at 12 minutes to leave this message ... Your cardigan is simply beautiful, Jooles. I actually rather love the look of it on you, it looks drapey and boxy. Is there any way you can knit a couple of ties, attaching them to the side seams, so that you can tie them behind you (in a bow?) and cinch it in a little? Much love, Heather xx

Jooles, if you should ever feel the need to re-home your beautiful Floozie. I would be most honored to be that home. (smile) I rarely get the time to knit for myself beyond the odd pair of socks and a nice cardi (in my size) would get loads of gentle wear. Having been a vegetarian myself for many, many years. I'm wondering what it's been like for you to eat meat once again. I'm enjoying your vlogmas episodes so very much and am so happy you decided to make them this year. All my best to you Mabel & the family.

Just wear it unbuttoned, and when it flows around you, no one will notice. It's really pretty, and there are a lot of people (myself included) who prefer to have very loose tops - especially cardigans, so no one will be the wiser.

I’m so sorry about your floozy 😢 I’m halfway down the body of mine (I’m not showing it on my Vlogmas as it’s in hibernation whilst I Christmas knit) and I know I would be crushed if it didn’t fit.
