Good afternoon and happy Wednesday! Well, it's not a *bad* project, but of the ::counts on fingers:: eight boxes I have seen from this company, it's my least favorite. Even taking into account the non-tangible costs of the subscription (paying employees, time spent planning & writing the pattern, purchasing the actual box it gets mailed in, etc etc) it doesn't seem worth almost $40. It would be very interesting to see this made in a different material; faux leather, perhaps, or a light denim, and maybe a snap closure instead of the velcro. The person whom I normally watched open the Sew What boxes & review the projects decided not to renew her subscription - the July box was her last one - so I'm glad I'll still be able to see what they have to offer watching your videos. Hopefully the September project will have a little more "oomph" to it. Thanks for posting!

Thank you for your response! I think I watched the same channel as you. "Fred Makes Things" or something like that. I'm still a bit of a beginning sewist and I decided to join this club to learn to make different things and improve my skills. I still have at least 10 more boxes coming up and I'm as anxious as you are to see what kind of goodies we have in store for us. I should try your suggestions to see how it would work out. I'll have to see if I can get some light denim and figure out a snap closure for it. I think it would turn out much better. One thing I forgot to mention in the video was that the Guterman thread did not like the plastic "hook" side of the Velcro. The thread got shredded going through that stuff and I had to re-thread the machine to finish the project.

@@DesertRatFiberArts Yup, Fred Makes Things is the one I watched. You may even have seen some of my long-winded comments there, LOL. Interesting that the Guterman thread couldn't hold up to the velcro, though. I've not used it myself, but I was under the impression that it's a high-quality product.
