Vertical drag lines mean that it's a horizontal fitting issue. Horizontal drag lines mean it's a vertical fitting issue. That line is most likely the bust being a tad too short which you already know about. 😁

Ah nice thank you haha I didn't make the connection it is a vertical drag line!

My great grandma sewed her own clothes in the 1930s. My family split into pieces after her death and someone got all her cool fabric and patterns. You did a great job.

Very pretty, the white piping really elevates this dress!!! The drag issues are because you need more room in the bodice. If you measure from the shoulder down over the bust line to your under bust that will give you length that you need for this pattern piece (then add seam allowance). It will mean reducing the waist band by the same amount that you add to the bodice to maintain the proportions of the dress. I hope that this helps you. I have been sewing for over 45 years now and fitting a garment can be tricky and annoying but worth it. I really enjoy watching your sewing and the cost breakdown. To make our own bespoke clothes can be expensive but it is so enjoyable to create clothes that express our personality and style. My Nana taught me to sew. She and her sisters made all their own clothes and hats, I am still in awe of them. xxxxx

Thank you! I forgot drag lines can be vertical too, and definitely needed the reminder to take that amount out of the waistband. Thanks for sharing some of your 45 years of earned wisdom with me! I hope to one day have that much experience under my belt.

Definitely checkout Ida Lupino. In addition to being a fabulous actress, she was a director (often not creditted) and ran her own production company which took on controversial issues like unwed pregnancy, rape, and disabilities

Ida Lupino is great. Enjoy many of her films. Super cute pattern design and flowers. Came out so cute! The piping is fantastic! I also really like and prefer unprinted patterns. I like how the older patterns are one size and I like not having all the printing on it. Would love a video tour of your Gunnesax patterns. I've never sewed any, but I wore that style of dresses back when I was a little girl in the 80s, so I always think the patterns look so fun!

The other day I saw some of this beautiful deep bluish purple. Tbh I think they’re maybe even prettier than Sakura (although Sakura is such a Japanese image)

@@HaleyMarieVintage okay, that's a fair response. However, this is an open platform where people are allowed to share what they think. I was providing feedback that may help improve your channel. It put me off, so it may do the same to others. If you only listen to positive comments then your ability to grow and learn about yourself will be limited. I'm not claiming perfection for myself, that would be ridiculous. Think about the comment rather than taking it as an attack, which it wasn't

That’s a shame, you are not subscribing👀 because Hailey is showing you a unique perspective on sewing with vintage patterns. Which is VERY rare on KZbin, Hailey is a real person with feelings & a very talented seamstress. It does not matter to me, which words an artist chooses to narrate their video. The point is: Hailey is showing us her individual perspective “on how” to sew together these garments. It’s invigorating to see someone be unapologetically themselves & I adore 🥰 her just for that!!
