Fabulous dress, loved the end result! For your scallops make sure you trim down excess seam bulk as much as possible and clip curves before pressing the heck out of it with your iron 😉. Love the fabric choice too!

The dress is beautiful. Put a smile on your face because the fact you were brave enough to make an alteration and work a placket is terrific. Scallops can be confusing at first. Mark your seam allowance with fabric pen, sew slowly; staying with markings. It will look whacky , until you clip the curves from the edge to near the seam ( taking care not to snip seam threads) about ever 1/4” . This will release the pressure on the curve so the scallops lay down. Keep up th good work. Love your choice of fabric.

That dress is so lovely. A tip for buttonholes is to test a bit of your fabric with the buttonhole foot just to check that the buttonhole foot doesn't get caught on the fabric or the tension isn't off, just make sure to have your test piece doubled like it would be on the finished dress

The dress came out beautiful !!! Try putting fusing... line up the fusing on the edge were the scallop goes before cutting it. Trace the pattern piece on the fabric and then cut it out. Line up the front and the facing and quickly sew it by hand so that the fabrics won’t move. Draw in the seam allowance following the scallop shape and that should help !

I like your filming style too. Out of all the sewing videos I’ve watched, yours are ones I’ve actually learned from. You’re thorough, clear in instruction & thought, and easy to understand and relate to. Plus, you don’t provide info overload lol which I appreciate. And I agree with Gabrielle. It is like your own little diary here and it’s so awesome that you express yourself so freely in that way. On another note, I’m sure your children will literally cherish the pieces you’ve made once you and they are older, and I’m positive they’ll admire you for pursuing what you enjoyed even after they were born. I’m not a mom but I think it’s good for parents to still do the things they enjoy.

Awesome video and you are progressing so nicely! I want you to know that as a seasoned sewist (51 years and counting!) I am so proud of you! You will go very far with your sewing. I could tell how disappointed you were, however, just create yourself a sewing sample notebook. that way you can make sample stitches and put them inside to go over from time to time to record your progress. I have all of my students to do this. That way years from now you will look back and think wow, look how far Ive come! Beautiful dress my dear! Keep up the enthusiasm...So inspiring!

Question regarding the scalloped edge. Did you clip the curve as you sew? Usually that tends to help with shaped edges. Regardless, it's still a lovely dress. Oh and your belt reminds me of a belt that came with a late-30s dress I have. It also has little snaps instead of a buckle.
