@@AlexisWinslow Keep up the great work. I get so frustrated when videos spend too much time talking about sponsors or just banter that isn't required.

Excellent tutorial. The buttons on my sweater turned out beautifully. I will use your technique for hiding the beginning and ending knots on my sewn garments in the future as well. Thank you!

Great video! How can this be used with buttons with shanks already on it?
@AlexisWinslow9 жыл бұрын
+pinkcashmere1908 It would work pretty much the same way if your button has a shank-just guide your threaded needle into the holes on the shank instead. I would definitely recommend trying a backing button though, because it will protect your knits from becoming stretched and distorted.

Which technique is better for BABY knitted clothes???
@AlexisWinslow6 жыл бұрын
Hi Paulina, It kind of depends on the purpose of the garment, but generally I do not use a backing button for baby clothes. There is an added concern with baby clothes and buttons-loose buttons can be a dangerous choking hazard. Sew the buttons on extra well, making several knots and use thread that contains polyester for added strength.

I was always taught to use the same yarn as the garment..not cotton thread.
@AlexisWinslow3 жыл бұрын
I actually recommend polyester thread for it's durability and strength. You could definitely use the same yarn as the garment instead, but there are many considerations when selecting a yarn for this purpose. Yarn may not be as strong as a sewing thread depending on the fiber. If you can yank the yarn firmly and it breaks, then it's not a good candidate for sewing on buttons.
