There's like 500 different names for fibers based on modified cellulose. Rayon, modal, viscose, tencel, lyocel, cupro, acetate, etc etc. They're all basically the same thing, but use different cellulose sources or slightly different processing techniques.

What I was wondering is how it’s staying wrinkle-free. All my viscose/rayon pieces are a mess five seconds after putting them on. I love the feel but hate the wrinkles.

Just fyi, acetate and rayon are not the same thing. While acetate is a semi-synthetic made from cellulose, its other chemical components make it more similar to plastic. It will melt easier, isn’t as durable and should be dry cleaned to name a few drawbacks. It also shouldn’t be worn by anyone that uses solvents because they will melt the fabric (as a nail tech that uses acetone,ask me how I know.) it’s better suited for special occasion wear rather than everyday stuff.

Hope Pinky is feeling better soon! My cat is also an outdoors cat and he hurt his paw a few weeks ago- poor thing had to be coned and he would sit facing the wall with his cone pressed up against it in a grump. All better now though and back to hunting all the other animals around our house. My favourite blouse was the polka dot one- the pattern breaks up the block colours nicely, but they all look great!

I don’t know if anyone mentioned this yet but part of the reason for the center front seam is to avoid that little bit of raw edge at the front opening, you can press the seam open on the inside and turn the seam allowance under and instead of having the raw edge you’ll have a nice folded one! And if you’re worried about the seam splitting at that point, you can do a bar tack across it. Otherwise, you can do some buttonhole stitches over the raw edge by hand if you really want to hide/reinforce it.

modal (tencel) is the BEST! pajamas, blouses, leggins, shorts, i'll use it for as much as possible, it wears and ages beautifully. i think some of my jean fabrics contain a % of modal too. :) OMG, that polka dot!!! i love the polka dot, red, and pink best. the greens are fabulous on you too! they turned out beautifully! and pinkie, i'm glad you're ok! hello from Minneapolis! 💅🏽

Great outcome on the blouses! good job! Modal is lovely, you should also try cupro - super luxurious heavy weight silk like fabric - a dream for a dress. For kitty dramas - do monitor how alert Pinky is. Their wounds can get infected easily especially when inflicted by other cats - if he's lethargic take him to the vet immediately, he may need antibiotics. My cat would get in fights all the time and this would often be the result :/

Forgive the extra comments but I wanted to suggest that when cutting multiple versions of a pattern you can layer the fabrics (like a stack of pancakes) and pin them together on the corners to give some stability. Cut slowly and with precision and voilà! Three blouses cut in one go. Blessings darling!

Love all of them! I think I have also heard people call that style of blouse a secretary blouse? I have several, they make me feel a little fancy. For the raw edge problem, I am wondering if you could cut a very small upside down V right at the center point and then fold it down and secure with a small stitch? Since I'm interested in the environmental aspect of clothing for years I heared of modal and knew it was a better alternative than polyester but hadn't exactly in mind that it was better than cotton, too, since it isn't used as often as other fabrics. Another nice fabric is viscose (Lenzing Ecovero especially since they reuse the chemicals to fabricate the material over and over again instead of throwing it out) but it can sometimes show "cracks" after washing, depends on the ratio of viscose and other fibres I guess. If you're interested in the environmental aspect of fabrics Gittemary Johnson did an impact video on her channel (or several) that give an good overview on that topic. I think the blouses suit you really well, I directly fell for the dark green color, but the light pink one is a near contender :) Thank you for sharing and a speedy recovery for pinky!

The blouses look awesome, and kudos to you for making so many in such a short time! I have the same issue of a tiny bit of raw edge on the necktie being left outside with another p*ssy bow blouse pattern as well, its really annoying. Hope Pinky is doing better soon! I also have an outdoor cat (she was one already before she decided moving into our home) and last year she came home from a fight with a bleeding eye which was horrible (but thankfully healed really fast), so I feel you. In the original vintage (Pussybow) blouses there was a built in facing to prevent fraying, & the blouse would button up the front. But overall, your versions came out very pretty. 🙌

For the issue with the fraying section at the point of the collar, you can sandwich a tiny bit of bias binding between (the bottom layer of the collar + the shirt fabric) and (the top layer of the collar) so that the binding is bridging the gap between the two ends of the collar and then it's easy to fold the binding into the inside when you fold the top layer of the collar in to finish. It's hard to explain in words sorry! You can also get the two ends of the collar together as close as possible (you'll have to clip the shirt fabric right at the point of the V neck up to the stitching line) and then tightly zigzag over the teeny tiny bit that is weakened by the snip.

Modal is a newer type of rayon. You also can put a very ligh touch of Fray Check on the blouse openings to prevent fraying. Its a seam sealant. Just be careful about using too much. A drop goes a long way. You could also just lightly hand stitch to reinforce it. I hope that Binky feels better soon. I had a cat that had to fight with other cats and kill other animals. We jokingly called Elwood, the serial killer. Now he lives with my daughter and he sneaks out really fast sometimes. He refuses to accept being an elder cat at 15 yrs. Sewing takes a while as I tend to add steps to whatever garment I'm making. Also depends on if Sabrina is sitting on my lap as I sew. She has grown a lot since I got her tha there is a room issue. Sometimes she sits on one machine as I sew and hops onto the other when I switch machines. I'm lucky in that Pepper is scare of going outside. Sabrina looks outside but hates snow. Though if she were to see a cow outside the apartment window, she would want to go outside and take it down for her dinner. She loves beef. Your blouses could work for a more formal work environment. When I was working, I worked at hotels and had to wear professional clothes. Any job in a hotel is running like crazy for 8-12 hours. At least that is in America. I hope to go back to cooking at the soup kitchen. Pay isn't much but less crazy and the clients appreciate me.

I use kind of a uv nail polish from a company called Semilac (honestly recommended thier products 👌). This time, I had a rubber base coat on from a different company. since I lost a nail in battle, I'm not sure if they are as durable as my usual polish, so I won't "name and shame" them😅

Poor Pinky. I have 3 outdoor cats, so I know the feeling. One is also a former semi-feral, and he is named Houdini for good reasons. A vet once told me that cats have very stretchy skin that heals fast, which is good with all the small scratches they get all the time. But that also means there is a risk of bacteria getting stuck underneath. So keep an eye on him and touch the paw to make sure it is not too hot or tender (sign of infection)

If I were to sew a blouse like this again, I would definitely put more emphasis on quality rather than speed. But... it's done, and they're wearable, so I'll try not to think about it😅🙈 Thank you so much for your cat related tips!😃 I will definitely go feel his paw, just to be sure! He was playing with his kicker yesterday without any sign of pain, so I think he'll be alright ❤️ Also, Houdini is such an awesome name for a cat!! Nice blouses - my favorit on you is the pistacio. ClosetHistorian has just released sewing a pussiebow blouse. She basicly finishes the seam all the way into the seamallowence of the coller and let it overlap a litle bit.

TheClosetHistorian does make it for a button-up front, but it can be applyed to a v-neck to. You just hem the very bottom of the V instead.
