Ha Ha. I figured. For future reference tho, when using iron on adhesive, you should press not iron the fabric. Ironing can potentially warp your fabric because it moves the glue around. This could end up making your garment not hang properly on the body. Luckily, your coat looks pretty good. Look forward to seeing more form you. Cheers!
@happyjuliexo55937 жыл бұрын
thanks a lot for the tutorial !!!! it is amazing to see how you made all the details on the coat. I dont know if this is creepy or not but i rewatch all of your vids when im bored because it gives me joy adn lits a fire under my butt to start to work! But that wasnt what i wanted to say. I wanted to say that im a graduated seamstress and i see a lot of "'flaws" (i know that this is a very old video and idk if your sewing skills has leveled up, if they have or simply you dont care you dont have to listen to my advice that i only give with love because i really like you as an artist!) Lets start w the arms, i saw that you pulled the curved edge of the arms wayyy further up on the shoulder than it would. This is very common to do becuase the arm doesnt fit??? Its suppose not to fit because you shall sew in a thread on the arm curve adn then pull the string together so the arm becomes "ruffled" at the cruve. Why you may ask? Its because so the arm has more of a poof in it and shall stand out more on your shoulder. When you wrinkle the arm curve you shall wrinkle it as much as possible so the whole arm AND the curve shall fit into the arm hole in your coat. This is very hard adn is the most tidiest thing to do, thats why i hate it. When you sew the seam on the arm curve it shall be on the biggest stitches (meaning the seams shall be far away from eachother) and you shall NOT back stitch when you start or when you end. If you do you cant pull the strings. This seam shall both be applied to your real arm and your lining arm. The seam shall be applied throughout half of your top arm curve (Meaning from the middle mark in the middle of your arm to halfway down on your arm curve on both left and right side of your arm) Im sorry if im not taking this in order and if it doest make any sense :/// Now to your whole coat body and lining for your coat. I can understand that hand stitching is relaxing but its also very time consuming so if you prefer the machine or dont have much time this is a great tip id say ^^ (THO is still requires some hand stitching!). So you do the exact same thing (you sew another coat but in lining) but instead of sewing it on wrong side to wrong side you sew it right side to right side instead, meaning all your nasty seams is visible to the eye! Trust me on this one. First of all you shall have a full coat with arms sewn on adn all the little details on your coat (if you dont want the details to be sewn onto the lining as well) Then you shall have a full lining coat as well with arms sewn on. When this is done you shall pin nice side to nice side meaning pin your coat onto your lining coat so the ugly side is seen by your eye. Pull your lining arm (or coat arm through your other arm it doesnt matter) just pull some arm through the other arm so youve easy access to both arms. Then after that you shall start to sew at the bottom of of your coat to the other bottom of your coat. I dont know how to explain this but you shall NOT sew your bottom end! (the part that almost touches the floor) And you shall NOT sew your arms close either because if you do sew some of those two close you cant turn your coat inside out. Trust me i did that and i got to rip apart my whole coat.... Just sew together everything else and when youve done that you turn your coat inside out adn there you have it. A beautiful coat w nice lining. And yes youve guess it.You shall hand sew the arm close and or hand/machine sew the bottom of your coat close. This was just tips! I do not want to offend your sewing skills. I think youre great at what youre doing and i just wanted to give you some tips on how your work can maybe be a little easier c: If you dont understand i can put up pictures on my IG and tag you so you understand? I dont want to pray on your life, this was just a suggestion

I love these kinds of videos! They're so informative and you're just so cute with your puppets regardless. You make it look so easy xD i wanna make a coat/jacker similar like that i guess, because i want to cosplay for the first time ever (i dunno if i canthis year tho with the virus and stuff) but anyway i do really wanna cosplay and the character i want to dress up as is Captain Amelia from treasure planet. So how would you recomend i do the pattern for the coat specifically from scratch, due to the fact i dont have any coat patterns at the moment, but i really wanna try and make it still lol also i do know just the basic basic of sewing because i did took sewing class YEARS AGO almost 7 years now and i lost track and havent practice as much jaja so i really wanna have the basic idea of how to make a pattern for the costume i wanna do so i can then refresh my memory xD, since i started taking art classes because i also wanna be an animator someday, and also because of work i havent been as active with sewing so yea thats why i wanna know how you would do it jaja Please and thanks and love your videos.

Kamui don’t kill me but what type of iron on adhesive did you use to keep the green connected to the batting, and the gold connected to the jacket
@Dynexsil6 жыл бұрын
I would say it is most likely 2 side interfacing :)
@ZakuRX826 жыл бұрын
She used fusible fleece interfacing on the coat and 2 sided heat n bond (not interfacing as interfacing adds structure and weight to the fabric) to glue the gold fabric to the coat. Heat-n-bond is a brand, it's really called iron-on adhesive, but always pick a good adhesive otherwise it will peel and ruin everything. Heat-n-bond never let me down personally.

Belleplaysgames My Mom did that when I was younger, so I feel ya 😉 You and she just have different priorities. Now that I'm an adult I have to be my own "mom" when it comes to this stuff. I have a budget, and if I want something kind of frivolous I have to make a budget category and not buy it until I have the funds... of course, sometimes I cheat and I regret it 😅 Oi. Mei, start with a small project like a pillow case and work your way up to harder things. Also, you might want to try an upcycled project, where you take an old item from a thrift store or your own closet, take it apart and put it back together again adding your own details. You Tube is an awesome resource for tutorials and project ideas. Sewing is a skill that anyone can learn with practice :)

could you maybe go into more detail about ironing on the applicated fabric pieces? did you treat the fabric in some way?
@aquanis39635 жыл бұрын
You can use interfacing, which has glue on both sides (what I suppose she used here) - simply iron it onto your application, get rid of the plastic / paper (whatever is glued onto the interfacing) and iron the whole thing onto your shirt/coat etc.
