I decided that I needed to sit down and actually cosplay a Disney princess - except I wanted to make it 1890s... and make everything the favored art style of that decade - art nouveau! In this video, I talk about designing, digitizing, embroidering and sewing the skirt. I also talk about the background of art nouveau, and what makes up a whiplash swirl.

I love June's Journey. I can corroborate that it has helped me immensely since a head injury 7+ years ago. It was hard at first but little by little, my speed, accuracy and memory have improved. This is the kind of game that I enjoyed before so that helps. Other hidden object games don't give me the same benefit. Enjoy your game!!

I love how you translated the very fall inspired wheat motif of the movie dress into a spring inspired crocus motif And I learnt in art history class that in Scandinavia we would also call art noveau "dragestil" or dragon style, because a lot of Scandinavian artists took inspiration from old Norse dragon drawings and carvings. I actually own a small stool from the period with carved dragons on it

Did you realize that the crocus is the national flower of Arendelle or was that happy happenstance?

As a Norwegian I was slightly disappointed that you didn't take any inspiration from the Norwegian national dresses, bunad, but you clearly had your heart set on Art Noveau and it turned out beautiful! Maybe have a look at Rosemaling (or I think on English wikipedia it's called Rosemåling). It's a nice and swirly painting style that you might enjoy the look of.

I love Art Nouveau too! I have been attracted to it since my early teens except that I did not know what it was back then. 😅 Your passion and talent never cease to amaze me. I commented a few weeks ago about how you inspired me to get back to sewing costumes for myself. I have asked for an overlocker for my 40th birthday and I am now back on track!! Okay, just underpinnings and a Victorian apron for the moment, but Regency stays are next! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible work of art with us. And also, I just love the huge smile on your face each time you put those costumes/gowns on - this is exactly how I feel about getting dressed like this! ❤️ Radha x

I do love all the costumes in all the Frozen movies and shorts. I have a few ideas in how to recreate some of Elsa and Anna’s dresses in the styles of the 1840s-1860s as well as 1890s as my orginal designs since I have a bit of a comfort zone on having full control on what it looks like. I currently have sketches of my ideas of what my versions of Elsa and Anna’s wardrobe would look like. I love your embroidery and I am absolutely living for the art nouveau designs of the embroidery patterns on the skirt. Good job on your skirt!!! I love it so much!!!

What a gorgeous skirt (and so glad to know about iron-in horsehair braid...)!!! I also adored the way you edited yourself into 19th century paintings! That is such an amazing idea to give the full effect of travelling back in time (aesthetically). The shirtwaist you wore with the skirt in the final reveal is incredible as well - and all of your lacy 1890s underthings. They really looked like antique garments, which is always the goal (at least for me haha). Such a great video, and I can't wait for the next installment!

Now this is one bit of embroidery I really hope you put up for sale on your Etsy shop. I love, love, love how this came out! 😍❤❤ This is my favorite skirt pattern of all time. I made one out if some cheap cotton fabric that I found at Walmart (yes I know I'm that bad) just after Morgan Donner coined the phrase history bounding. I pleated the back on mine too. Now that things are starting to open back up and hopefully going back to some sort of normalcy, I want to start dressing up again. I just got my trusty singer back from being serviced and now I can catch up on my sewing projects, including making favorite skirt. I'm hoping to upgrade to a decent embroidery machine in the future too. I really want to make myself this skirt 😍😉

I am feeling lucky to live and work in Paris because you can find very nice architecture everywhere and I remember one day, at lunch break, I was running errands close to my work and found the amazing Castel Beranger front door that you pictured at 8:34 and even if I was in a hurry, I couldn’t help but stopped for a few seconds to admire the gate ❤️ A few years ago, we had a Mucha exhibition and the thing that amazed me the most was the jewelry. I'm again and again fascinated by your process of digitizing these things. The skirt came out amazing!

I am loving this!!!! I like how this pattern sews up, the line drawing is a little hard to judge by. This came just in time. Last night, I crawled out of the Art Nouveau rabbit hole. So totally agree with the thickening lines. Stellar job, as usual! Bravo!
