I'd love to make myself a pair at some point. I feel like I know more or less how to do it, but I've never made anything remotely similar. 😂

I believe in you!! You could definitely make something like these ones, they're actually pretty simple to put together - no special skills required!

No preference for short or long, but I prefer front lacing! I like the idea of using short stays as a sports bra alternative so I’m not sweating miserably in synthetic fibers. I made a pair but found back lacing a pain so have been sitting up them, cut up, to try to rework into front lacing. Not period accurate but hopefully once made easier to get in and out of. I have since made a mock up for an 18 century pair of long bodied stays and have to adjust the waist line height. That one is front lacing.. actually maybe I’ll just go copy and crop that pattern for my short stays! I haven’t made Victorian corsetry yet to compare but I imagine it will be a lot more mock ups to get the form right for the fully body and curvy shape of corsets. Anyways enjoyed the video thank you for sharing your seeing journey.

Front lacing is definitely easier to get into!! So much more convenient! Good idea for a sports bra version - totally makes sense to use something like this for such a purpose!

Love the stays! I wanted to ask is your grommet press the Kam one? I’ve been wanting to get a press but not sure which one is a good one to get 😊

No, mine is just an unbranded one off Amazon! I've never used a Kam one so I don't know the quality difference, but mine works well and I'm happy with it! I did have a few issues with the grommets not closing properly when I first started using it, turns out that was operator error though 😅

@ I’ve also checked out the Amazon ones and was concerned about the quality but that’s good to hear they’re good!
