A garment is not completely well made unless all of the edges are finished and clean. Unless you are into deconstruction then never mind.

Ive watched dozens of videos on finishing seams this one is the best in my opinion. No rambling, no snail speed talking. Quick narrating to the point and thats it. My brain zones out when people talk slow so this video helped me take in the info and I appreciate that

Totally agree, by far this is the best video. I thought I have mine on faster speed than normal but it is actually just her narrating it fast which I really like instead of those slow narrators.

Finally! Someone has explained to me why I should cut on grain and what the difference is. I imagined that the crosswise grain would like the lengthwise grain so I was like "if they look the same, and they are 90 degrees to each other...why is there a difference between cutting on the lengthwise grain and cutting on the crosswise grain?" Now I see how they are different! I still have questions about that but at least I'm closer to understanding

Excellent video! If you have not yet done a video on sewing an invisible zipper onto a dress, I would be very interested. I think it would be different from other videos, in that most of the videos for sewing zippers have the two sides of the fabric not yet attached to each other. When making a dress, or some other clothes, the zipper is one of the last steps. Thank you for your time and devotion to helping people sew better!

A basic video that would be very helpful is information on different fabric types, the ideal tension to use with each, etc. Also, I was hemming some jeans the other day and tried to use topstitching thread like you suggested (I usually to use normal/quilting thread), because I didn't want you to have Gelato to chew my thread out. My machine wouldn't sew with the thread and it ended up a disaster. So...maybe another idea would be how to use different types of thread with a sewing machine =D

-------- Keep doing these tutorials. It really is helpful in understanding how to sew. Especially for those that don't go to a fashion design school or sewing class. --------- Please do a tutorial some day on how to do bias binding. So I could start making a burp cloth and bibs for babies. Etc. THANK YOU! There are a lot of videos out there but for some reason your really easy to understand plus you do close ups on your projects which is sooooooo helpful!

Hi there! I love to watch your videos on sewing, you teach it well and you always have great new ideas! A video idea I think you could do is for the people who are new to sewing. Give tips on what is the easiest way to learn on how to sew and what to sew for starters. I myself am learning to sew, but i can get a little discourage because I don't know where to start. Anyways keep up the good work! :)

Hello, This is such an informative video about finishing the raw edges of fabric. I do have question about sewing, though ... I have read that you use a special kind of thread for overlocking your fabric edges when you use a serging machine. I also read you can't use that thread on a regular sewing machine because it would easily break in the process. My question is this : can you use regular thread on a serging machine? I have no serger, but, am wanting to maybe get one if I can ever afford it . TYSM for sharing this video with us and for answering my question if you can. 👍😉

The fabric is stretching by width not by length unless it's a stritch by it's nature . If yes, then even in this case, if the length 100% stretch the width is 2 times more. let's get back to the whatever the fabric, If you cut the shirt in width, then after washing your shirt, it is supposed to get longer because it will be stretched. So to the best of my knowledge you would rather cut in length to get the advantage of the stretching for comfort of your shoulder. Unless if there is someone corrects me according to his experience.
