I'm not a big fan of waist gathered skirts. I would probably gather it into a waist band, for a smoother look. Other than that I think the brown outfit really suits you. I think I will be downloading the top pattern. I love how as sewists we justify to ourselves why we bought a piece of fabric. I just did the same to myself and everyone I showed it to. So silly. I love all the new fabric you have and your plans. When you mentioned your Heather Blazer it reminded me to sew up the one I cut out last year!

Sarah, the New Look 6614 I have made this in woven linen and its an amazing dress, I have make a short one and a maxi and I love this pattern, so give it a try. xxx

Ah thank you, I love the idea of making it into a maxi as well. I’ve checked out the pattern on pattern review and it’s confusing because it looks like it used to be made for wovens with a zip, but this definitely says it’s for knits!!! I’ll try it in a knit first and see how I get on I think!! 🥰

If you're still unsure of the brown two piece you could alter it. You could take the elastic out of the top so it is less puffy. If you want to make it more fitted you could add a button placket to the back or front and have jazzy buttons to break up the brown. If you feel the skirt is too puffy you could make the front waistband fitted. I liked it on you but you have to feel comfortable. You always look lovely in your makes so you know what feels right.

Thank you so much, those are really love ideas and I definitely prefer a flat fronted waistband. I’ll have to revisit the outfit and see what can be done I think, if not then just style it up and get on with it! 🥰😂

Never tried the dental floss trick but looks a good hack. Your brown top and skirt are both lovely and definitely not a fail. Both are beautiful separates to wear if you not feeling right in wearing them together. Also love the idea of the seashell heather blazer x

I saw your vlog on my phone and immediately thought how nice, you could put a leopard belt on the skirt for a cool look. Maybe leopard heels or a leopard purse? It's actually really cute and you can definitely pull it off!

You lay the dental floss on top of the fabric along the line you want to gather and do a zig zag stitch over it , so you can later pull it through 😊
