I love your lounge set! I just cut out a red velvet Indigo dress and can’t wait to sew it up. I used the Anna Allen sleeves and have had this on my list to make for a while. It doesn’t get very cold here, but today we have snow for the first time in 6 years. I am enjoying the snow day and yet to sew as I am a little sick with a cold. Hope I can wear it a few times before spring gets here.

Still snowing big flakes here and forecast for all day. I'm in England but only 50 miles from the Scottish border. I made a Donny shirt and wore it on NYE over an M&S thermal top. I'd extended the sleeves but I was in a rush so just used elastic at the cuff. The tee shirt underneath looked just like cuffs! Yip!

Just made two pairs of the saguaro pants but when i made a toile out of an old bedsheet i found them too high waited so i lowered the waist by cutting the smallest size for the pockets and the pants in the rise from the top of the pants at the waistband and also adjusted the pattern piece for the width of the waistband from 5” to 4” and use 1 1/2 “ elastic instead of 2 inches. I was a little afraid at first to do this so I adjusted my toile first before cutting into my fabric. I’m pleased to say that this worked and I will use this method in the future to adjust high rise pants. I also added an inch to the length of the pants because they have a very narrow seam for the hem in the pattern & I like a nice wide hem so I made it an inch and a half and I’m 5 foot six for reference. I made mine out of washed linen and i really like them but i need to get used to the width of the pants leg lol. I think I may make another pair out of perhaps rayon we’ll see. I also recently made the nell dress by Tilly and the buttons. I made this for my Christmas dress and I was really not very pleased with the pattern and the fit. I need to make some adjustments for sure to get this for my liking. I found it very very large so I may add a tie belt at the waist to sinch it in and even in the shoulders of the bodice is very over large even though i made my size. The funny thing is I did make a toile of the top first and none of these things seem to show up in a calico until I use my fabric. I think I am sworn off Tilly and the buttons patterns. They just don’t give my body shape the best fit, and I’m really not pleased for the price that you pay for her patterns The very limited directions and terrible diagrams for sewing I even looked online to see if the photographs were better and they were not so I’m done with her patterns and I’m moving on to try some newer ones. I actually joined the Closet Core group so hopefully I will have better luck with those patterns. Have a great year you are off to a great start with your makes 👍

I’m glad you said that about the Drew. Ever since the pattern came out all I can think of is 80’s shell suits! I love your black lounge suit and think the Drew looks much better in one colour but I suppose that defeats the object. Enjoy your course at Babylock.

Hi Alison your top is lovely on you but I haven’t gone down the Drew rabbit hole I don’t like the vibe of it at all prefer other sweatshirts. Sometimes I feel the pattern companies try to go with trends that are best left in the past lol. Only subscribed to you over Christmas and love your style and presenting I am looking forward to following you. I have just made a Page Hoodie well it’s nearly finished and I find that one is more my style. Love your idea of the Bateau top thank you for that. ❤❤

I think everyone talks about the weather Alison, in country Victoria in Australia it has been 39 C, then 38 C, today its only 26 C, and poring rain, at least the rain has put out the bush fires that were spotted around. Shell suit, that takes me back 😂, hilarious, have a great sewing week, Deb

Hi , Alison, I was actually half way through my comment to you when my laptop went crazy and I lost everything. So, "let's try that again". thank you so much for sharing your fabrics and pattern thoughts. I mentioned that my interest in garment sewing had been re-ignighted through viewing the vlogmas season . I have purchased a pattern and fabric for a T-shirt..... I'll see how I go. I grew up in Scotland and convince myself that I miss the snow. Visits to the snowfields in New South Wales.,Victoria and even Tasmania are treats, and I absolutely know it is no fun actually in it. I don't know what a shell suit is but it made you laugh. I hope you and your hubby have a great time away and that you enjoy your Babylock course. Best wishes.xx

Hi Alison, thanks for sharing your lovely makes, unfortunately I do remember shell suits 😂😂. I bought the Drew sweatshirt pattern but haven’t made it yet as it seems you need quite a lot of fabric for the colour blocked version and I don’t have any scraps that I could use.
