I need to make this too. My tools end up all over the table and get in the way. I use tins when not sewing, but as I'm working the tins are not sensible to put the tools in and out. You need them handy. This mat would make that easier.

Well I did make one, only a few hiccups. The first pocket I made had directional fabric. Well I had it placed right, but when I sewed it, I flipped it. Why, I dont know, so I have some upside down flamingos. Still looks amd works wonderfully, except that. Oh well, it was for myself anyways. I have upside down days every now and then. Haha

An easier way to center your top and batting is to draw a line with a pencil 1 inch in on all 4 sides of the backing.
