Sewing Machines with Kevin and Rusty

Now is the time to be utilizing a sewing machine, whether at work or at home on personal projects. But it's hard to know which one to get and important to know how to care for, and use it properly. Kevin and Rusty will be going over all of the questions that you have sent in and will be discussing all of the ins and outs of sewing machines. We will be featuring the Cobra Class 3, 4, 20 and 26!

Ok, I’m pretty sure this is the sixth or seventh time I’ve watched this. Probably half or more of the time I’m watching this as I’m hand stitching. Think I’ll take a trip down and take a look at the 26. I’m in the Jefferson City area.

Thank you so much. I have been struggling about buying a machine and if so which one. I have nerve damage and it makes it hard to sew. I like to make bags and wallets. I occasionally make a holster but I would prefer to hand stitch it and machine stitch the belt. I can't decide between a 20 and a 26.

I just purchased a Cobra Class 4 from you guys after watching your videos and a few others in KZbin Land.... Have you done or can you do a video on the various pressure feet attachments and the other plates that come in the premier package? I want to understand when one might use a left foot vice the right side only foot and all the other various configurations it can be set up as... Thank you for all the great info you guys pass on the leather community.

I like when the question comes up` Is there a machine that sews every type of material thick and thin as well. I say` have they develop one hammer to knock in panel pins but also knocks down brick walls, then they seem to understand the logic.

I suffered a stroke on the 22nd May 2019 ... & I’m doing leather work as rehab for my right hand. I am also a veteran of the Rhodesian Army... I was shot in the knee in action in 1976. I now live in Melbourne Australia and watch many of your leather sewing machine videos. I would love to know costs of your machines & shipping costs. Prior to my stroke I sewed my products by hand, but struggle with that now hence my interest in the sewing machines. The machine needs to be able to sew through 5mm leather doubled over , so 10mm at a minimum. I would also be interested in becoming a reseller here in Australia. Look forward to hearing from you. I'd like to see a more in depth explanation of the primary and secondary tension on the class four machine. I'm just a little lost in understanding the lower top tension.

@@SpringfieldLeather Thank you Only having experience on a residential light weight machines. Having two top tension adjustments is a bit confusing. I kinda get it, Just adjust it till the knot is in the center of the material. but the machinist in me asks Why and how. and I agree I'm over thinking it I know.

Hello, I really enjoy the videos. I have a question that may have already been asked? I was wondering which machine would be the best used for sewing leather patches to hats? I currently am in the process of narrowing a laser machine down, I am now searching for sewing machine to apply patches to hats. Thks

Hello Wade, more than likely you would want a post machine. A patching machine will also do it, but a good post machine is best in my opinion.

For me it would be a cobra 8810 or a highlead 4618. Not sure of availability as of this moment, but either are fine for what you’re doing. Kevin

BUT YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN TO PEOPLE THAT THE TOP TENSION UNIT ,,CONTROLS THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FABRIC,,,AND THE BOBBIN CASE TENSION CONTROLS THE TOP THREAD TENSION,,,SOME PEOPLE STILL DONT UNDERSTAND THIS,,,,SERVO MOTORS AFE GOOD. I LIKE THE ONES WITH THE 3 HOLE MOUNTED BRACKET. ONE PIECE. GOOD LUCK,,

What best oz leather is best for the class 4p to do belt and sheaths

The Class 4 will sew up to 7/8" worth of leather. So a 9-10 oz belt would be no issue.
