I've found that doing markets at a school function never go well. I've learned to only take part in markets/craft shows that are for that purpose only. When craft booths are incorporated with a school event or other public event, patrons are there to attend that function and are not always interested in purchasing items. Just my observation and experience! Good luck at any market/event you participate in!

Craft fairs are definitely a hit or miss. I just recently experienced the same thing. A lot of traffic but no one buying. The other vendors experienced the same. But I hope all your future fairs go amazingly well 🤗

Good luck at your upcoming markets! Don’t get discouraged, just keep trying new things! And don’t compare yourself to others, people use the term sold out very loosely!!! ❤️❤️

I preferably do not like shows that are more based with kid activities due to their mainly there for the activities and not to buy from the vendors. Another thing I think maybe a solid white or black table cloth would help with your beautiful work stand out on the table. Also, good to add some little bit bigger and higher priced items to bring in more revenue for your booth especially with the crafts shows being $50 or more. I usually attend farmers market for only $20 and make sure to have my small items around $5-$8 and have bigger items ranging from $20-$40 and some around $12-$15. I hope future craft shows will continue to be better. I would add the shirts and sweatshirts already made in your booth with trending designs or saying at the time and that should boost the amount of you end up with in a show. The bell bottoms are adorable!! Matching headband and bows would be cute!

You should make a lot of scrunchies. In fact more than a lot. Make 3 different sets of signs so for the first 2 hours you have a regular price list, at 2-4 hours you have slightly reduced price list, and for the last 2 hours have a further reduced price list.

I was thinking about doing that with the signs! Such a good idea to help clear out stuff so I don't have to pack a ton back up.

I did a craft fair in early November. I made the scrunchies the main item to sell. Well........I sold 3 scrunchies(total)!!!! What did sell(to my surprise), were my "microwave bowl cozies!!) Who knew??? We were going to do a church craft fair. But, when we got the application, there were so many(as my hubby put it), too many hoops to jump through. I won't go into detail of what the hoops we had to jump through. I'm doing a craft fair in May. It's during the Mother's Day weekend. So I will be making more microwave bowl cozies. Plus I will be taking all of my scrunchies, try to sell some??

At the craft fair I went to yesterday the booth next to me had those cozies and she was selling a ton of them! I was surprised too but they were a big hit for her too. Good luck on your next craft fair! My scrunchies did well this weekend at the two markets I went too. They really liked the group deals I did with them. 1 for $7, 2 for $12, or 3 $15

Word to the wise.. you do NOT want to deal with pageant moms. they want everything right now! at the last minute and they change designs at last minute.. everything is custom sizing. If you aren't an experience seamstress (note it has the word "stress" in it lol).. believe me.. you do not want to go there with your business!

When you mentioned someone says the higher the market, the better the turnout. I honestly think that is wrong advise. My best show of the year is a show I only pay $50/booth to vend at; and it's a multi-day show. So, $100 for a 10x20 for 3 days and make 50 times the booth rent is really good for me.
@NeitaFajita
@NeitaFajita 2 жыл бұрын
Wow that's amazing! My 2nd best show I paid $0 for the booth, so it just really depends on the event and the type of customers. I just haven't had good luck at the booths that I only pay $50, everyone experience is different.

@@NeitaFajita Yes ma'am. I know I don't do well at craft shows, but do really well at festivals. For some reason, our festival booth fees are really cheap compared to craft shows, but they draw in tens of thousands of people. If you haven't had a chance to experience festivals as a vendor; please give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Craft fairs/markets are all about engaging with customers. Maybe at the next one you should try not going live or vlogging very much, stand behind your stall with a big small on your face, catch people's eye as the go past and give them a smile...customers can be really put off by vendors just sitting and chatting with each other..like if you walked into a high end store you would be pissed if the staff members were just sat looking at their phones right!
@NeitaFajita
@NeitaFajita 2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! This event we only went Live during the setup of the booth and only vlogged about a minute of the event because there was so many kids around and I didn't want to get them on camera. I said hello and smiled to every customer that walked by as well and was super chatty with people. I also stood too the entire time because it was freezing lol.. They just weren't buying or interested. I think people were mostly there for the activities and not really there to buy anything. Also the weather was crappy too so I'm sure that played into it as well

I understand it's alot of work, but I would never pay $10 for a scrunchie. Reduce your price and see how that goes. I look at it as this..Did it take you an hour to make one? Thats like making $10 an hour. Since you buy in bulk, what is your supply cost? Maybe calculate that and price it that way with labor time. I use to sell chocolate dipped strawberries. People would sell a dozen for $16. I sell for $8.00. Since I would dip so many and in bulk cases, you sell alot more and still make a profit. I see YT people sell their scrunchies for $22. That's just crazy, but it's just for the name/label I think. Good luck and hope things go better for you. Also: You should be wearing a scrunchie when selling. People need to visualize what you are selling and see how cute they are on a person.
