Great video. Adding onto "stay organized," beginners might consider buying only what you need to get started and for each project. If your first project is something elasticated and not requiring any other notions [aside from thread], just buy the elastic you need. Keep it simple. I see so many videos of sewing rooms with walls of fabric and mountains of bins containing scraps, thread, and tools. Buy what you can manage. My sewing went to another level after I decluttered my fabric stash, notions, and tools I didn't use. Minimalist sewing was a game changer. Love your channel! I found over the years that the more "complicated" the pattern, the less I wore it. Simple garments that have clean lines and are easy to care for are faster and easier to sew. ❤

Wonderful tips for beginners and reminding experienced sewists. I have 2 you can add to your list if you want to. Clean the internal workings of your machine OFTEN. Did I say "often"? Because I meant often. Yes, often. LOL I encouraged a friend to buy a very old serger for $8 while thrifting. She was hesitant but I told her if I couldn't get it working, I would pay her for it. We took it to her house and I started cleaning the inside of the compacted fabric fuzz. It was in there so tight, it was like a solid piece of concrete! Well, nearly concrete truth be told. Works like a dream now. YEHAW! My other tip is practice stitches on paper, straight, curves, corners, zigzag. Hope this helps some new sewists and is a reminder for our more experienced sewists. Love your videos! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences.

This was a great video. I do the same with my fabrics! Wash them on hot and dry them on hell fire. 🔥

I need to have a little sewing kit. I have not thought about that since I'm retired, but I do go out to church and to the market.😊

Something that I’ve been doing as a beginner is thrifting fabric. I draft a Muslim at least twice in thrifted fabric before cutting into my “real” fabric. Fabric can be a little pricey so make sure you work out the kinks before cutting into it.
