Did they though? Genuine question. The protesters look quite hippieish, children of God types. Did they turn up when the Eagles were in town?

Yeh the backward messages thing was really weird, especially the Judas Priest one which was tragic and even daft ones like Queen Another One Bites the Dust which played backward sounds like Smoke Marijuana. As for the Pistols im from the jolly old UK so we don't really have the religious outrage - it's more centred around things like the monarchy or swearing. True story.
@fillherupjacko68418 жыл бұрын
Looking outside from the UK America just seems/ seemed like a really religious country - so the Sex pistols touring the states and especially the south seemed like them touring the Middle East. I'm not having a go at america it's just that countries/ cultures get hung up on different things. It's like when Lennon said that the Beatles meant more to teenagers than Christianity everyone in England went "yeh for better or worse that's obviously true" whereas in america it was like "how dare Lennon say he is getting bigger or better than jesus." It seems really backward but then britain gets outraged about equally ridiculous things. Ultimately the sex pistols were the good guys, just humorously provoking the previous generation who they saw as responsible for a lot of the things that had gone wrong in the world. Rotten's mum wrote a letter to the press at the time saying her son was right and would be proved to be right. And they were - in contrast to so many media and church people.

I was at that show and many others at Cains. I lived in Tulsa from 1976 till about 1985. 200 miles down the road I grew up playing Bass in bands 6 nights a week. Then had 2 of my own clubs with bands 6 nights a week at different times. There was only about 150 people there that night because of the snow. We were on the right hand facing side, but there was room anywhere. I believe Cains holds about 300 people.

@@SecretGerms As I just posted, even most atheistic scholars conclude that Jesus existed. The Jesus myth hypotheses is considered fringe in the scholarly circles. While there is a lot of debate about the details, the scholarly consensus is that there was a religious teacher named Jesus who was baptized, ministered for a time, then was crucified. Multiple independent sources attest to a religious leader named Jesus being active in that region at that time. Even ancient sources who were against his religion did not question that he was a real person.

The audio is from the later Winterland concert in San Francisco? The footage is not Winterland and the audio syncs up with JR's vocals as far as I can tell, not sure what they pieced together for Kowalski's film here, I surmise the outdoor bits are the only genuine Tulsa footage, a news item. A great composite if it is. The contrast of the religious protestors and the Pistols is eerie, in England the Pistol's were censored by an entitled class system and old-boy network of record companies , the eiltes. These protestors are working class and believe in their cause, out there in the cold speaking their minds, similar to the Pistols.
