The sound prolly goes back to The Sonics, and those other 60's garage bands. The Dolls and the Stooges nailed down the attitude tho. Check out Steve Jones copying Thunders moves onstage.. The 'Pistols also did a cracking version of "No Fun" as a tribute to the Stooges. Pistols were a great band, but they didn't invent the wheel.
