I actually was pretty relativistic myself, a few years ago (while I was vegan, mind you). I basically thought that everyone needed to find their own truth. I since learned that relativism is not only socially detrimental and dangerous, but it's actually a sign of ... let's say, a lack of an individual identity and personality disorders. When people have no coherent value system, and hence no moral system, they are unable to set bounderies. That is VERY unhealthy, and speeks of a total lack of individual agency (following norms uncritically, for example). Glad I grew up.

@Aluzky The argument against bestiality is commonly one of consent. An animal cannot give consent. Just like a mentally handicapped human with the mental age of a child, she cannot give consent. Or a an infant cannot give consent. Plus I can only imagine a scenario where you can force and manipulate an animal into bestiality, will be with a domesticated animal. The domestication of animals is problematic and often cruel. If you try it on with a wild animal you'll receive a response from a non manipulated and forced animal, likley flight or attack.

I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I like that you brought up “killing animals for food”. It’s a point that sounds hypocritical at first when you think about it, but sex and food are different. Sure, the process to obtain the food can be harsh, but at the end of the day, just like any other thing that is an apex, at the top of the food chain, we gain nourishment. It is for two different purposes. In one process, the animal is given to us for a purpose, just like any other animals that die for other animals nourishment. The other process leaves the animal alive to quite possibly suffer at the hands of abusive acts for a long time. It leaves them alive to suffer, and it is only for the purposes of sexual gratification, and nothing else, which causes problems like addictions and other worse things in the future. It’s two different processes with different ideologies, results, and purposes.

I was using natural processes that give other animals nutrients, just as we gain nutrients, as an example. I don’t think we should do things simply on basis of other animals doing said thing. You heavily misused it against me. I don’t commit sexually deviant atrocities against animals. I eat animals because I am not going on a shitty vegan diet that will cause me to be underweight. The counter argument would be the an adult animal would fully understand the processes of sex and how it works despite not having the exact emotional or logical considerations a typical human would. The vast majority of intelligence determinations between species are done in regards to word pairing and problem solving, which is hardly a good measure of intelligence in regards to sex. If it was I could safely say most people shouldn’t have sex. Pedophilia, from what we understand, always necessitates harm. When it comes to zoophilia this isn’t always the case. Very often there is harm, but not always. Of course I still recommend not actively engaging in zoophilia because of the possible harm, but the comparisons intellect wise between animals can be very difficult.

It’s not a philosophical objection to veganism, but a practical one - so you just respond with something like, “Okay, so if a vegan diet were as cheap and accessible as a nonvegan diet, would you agree that it’s better/ethically preferable (or even an obligation) to be vegan??” If you get an honest yes to that, it’s the nail in the coffin - then you make your attempt to demonstrate how cheap a vegan diet can be, or let them think about it on their own. We all know that vegan diets are practical and affordable for most people on the face of the earth; leave that part of the argument for the end, because if you can take care of the rest of the objections, that one is easily dispensed of.

Problem with blanket-stating plant based diets as cheaper is that it’s a fallacy. When you have more options, you’re surely going to have more money-saving options. I stopped eating beef in 2009 after discovering hinduism. Went vegetarian in 2018 and at the point I thought I was doing a lot of good. When I watched Dominion in 2020 I went vegan full stop. I think its ok to eat animals, but sex with animals is wrong. I believe that there is a clear difference, i aslo believe that meat is a vital food source for us humans. While we can survive off vegetables alone its not exactly the best for us, do we eat too much meat, yes. But thats a different topic and of my own opinion. Now when it comes to sex with animals there is no reason to, we can all find a human to have sex with, for a purpose. But here is where I may turn a blind eye to such acts, is if we can replace human on human rape, sex trafficking child abuse and such with sex with animals. I would be ok with that. I wouldn't partake in such acts myself just like i wouldn't buy a hooker or rape a person. And even if it were to be legal and socially acceptable I wouldn't because animals arnt attractive to me.
