I've got all of these and I believe Side effect is the best. It's truly a masterpiece if you like sweet fragrances, the opening is a little harsh though. You need to wait for the dry down to really smell it. Naxos is also amazing, close second.

@@barygol I'm not a perfume snob or anything, but I still don't understand why people rate scents ON PAPER. They're literally smelling head notes and alcohol, nothing else. I ain't trying to protect any scent here, I don't care which one they enjoy the most, but god damn I cringe every time I see people judging a scent by smelling paper strips. Where's the warmth of the skin? The oils reacting? The ambrofix heating up, reacting with your own bodys skin flora? We're talking molecules here, they HAVE to react with skin, they do not react on paper. Best example is Bois Imperial - That stuff reeks like sweet death on paper, but on skin it literally smells like freshly washed clothes and clouds. It's a completely different world. This does NOT happen on paper, which is why I'm just disappointed in videos like these. Let's say it like this - The people in this video are judging Coca Cola by the color of the logo, not by tasting it. Really boring to watch. And again - Not in a snobby way, not in a "uhhh I like expensive wine because it smells like angel tears and gogobubu pa lóir french-whatever-the-fuck". Perfumes do not work on paper. Not even cheap ones. If I wanna taste Coca Cola, I do not lick the bottle, I drink it. I pour it in my mouth. Because I don't want to taste paper and glass, I want what's deep inside there. These people are licking the paper on coca cola bottles & then judge the taste of the actual coke.

Why would you spray and immediately test? The opening will last under 20 minutes, but the base and heart will last for 7 to 8 hours. The opening is important to the wearer, but a thorough review includes a review of what it smells like after a few hours.

@@domcruise274 I agree, especially when it comes to getting other people's opinion, but there are a lot of people in the frag community who care more about the opening. I've spoken to two KZbin creators in this space, and one said he prefers to discuss openings because he wants to recommend frags that people will find appealing when they test it in the mall. Most people don't even know what the stages of a frag are and think the opening is how it will smell throughout. The other creator basically said a mediocre or bad opening ruins a frag for him even if the dry down is amazing

Initio side effect opening is not the best even I dont like the opening. When the opening is over this thing is beast mode. But its my most complimented fragrance in my collection because after the opening wears off you turn heads. Its the only fragrance ive ever had someone literally follow me to ask me what i was wearing.

@Lights yeah you cant judge it off that. If you put a freshly sprayed side effect against a lot of colognes i guareentee probably 9/10 maybe even 10/10 depending on the cologne you choose would pick it over it every time.

These are three powerhouse fragrances. I own all three and wear them for different occasions and the impression I want to leave. Naxos is a for a playful, day out. Layton is for when I’m feeling myself and I’m not concerned with the consequences. Side Effect is when I’m dressed to impress and am feeling charming. I’ve never had a bad moment or bad reaction to any of those.

All are great but Side effect is my fav. certain fragrances smell better on skin or in the air. Chanel allure homme sport eau extreme smells very meh on strip and skin but amazing in the air. Same for side effect imo. Great vid.

Great video! I ordered a lot of decants, testing PDM discovery set + Xerjoff set and waiting for Creed and Roja. Layton Exclusif was a big disappointment for me unfortunately, but it´s maybe just my feeling. Naxos is the king for me now, absolutely amazing. I am looking forward to Roja (mainly Enigma and Elysium) and especially Creed SMW. After all the testing I will order a bottle or two, but Naxos is rank 1 for now. I recommend to all to not buy without testing. Ordered Armani Royal Oud without previous testing, it was good, but not my taste, same with Prada L'Homme, fortunately this one was great, Chanel - Allure Homme, also good, but I decided, another ones after testing only, especially for these niche, more expensive fragrances. Edit: Erica please, would you recommend Naxos also for summer, or Roja Enigma/Elysium or Creed SMW would be better ones for spring/summer time? I tested Naxos a few days ago and it was a great success, received a lot of compliments, so I think it could be used in "hotter" days as well. Thank you.

I really like Naxos. Bit of a shame about the price. At the moment I’m sticking with Spicebomb Extreme as that does a similar thing, just not quite the honey/vanilla bomb that Naxos is. Only tried Side Effect once but I liked it. Layton Exclusif doesn’t really do it for me. Prefer Percival and Greenley.

Idk if i would go that far. My favorite fragrance is side effect and its my most complimented by far but layton exclusif is really good also. I think the problem with this is that side effect is way better on skin than on paper and it also has one of the worst openings to a great fragrance i think ive ever tried. Ive had multiple bottles of side effect in the past and i still never got used to that cough syrup opening.

Side effect is a cold weather scent not exactly beach friendly. A lot of Initio pack a wallop of an opening so they can really project when they settle. I hope you still ended up getting it, its my top 5.

You have to try them on your own skin, I have all three and they are all amazing. For me, after they've settled on my skin, Side Effect is the most masculine one, and the best. It is close to Layton, but it is more dry, in the same sense a wine can be dry. If you want to get two out of these three, I would definitely pick Naxos because it goes in a slightly different direction, and then one of the other two.

I would revisit it if i were you. Put it on skin if you havent already and dont smell the opening its the worst part of the fragrance. Let it dry down for a while and you will be pleasantly surprised. Its my most complimented fragrance by far and i have a lot of beasts in my collection that are nig compliment getters and side effect still beats them out by a good amount.

Ignore the opening its one of the worst openings in a fragrance imo. Let it dry down for a while on your skin and then smell it. It also smells better in the air and lasts a very long time.

Just can’t do the Layton thing. The vanilla Vicks bit kills me. I guess I get what people like about it if they don’t smell that Vicks thing, but it’s nothing special to me. Smells smudgy and 2D. Currently have Naxos and Carlisle on the way! Very excited

Naxos is banging!! Starts out with that honey, then the tobacco comes out more as the dry down goes into affect. Original Layton is better than exclusive IMO. Side affect is a more refined Bentley. Both have similar openings, but side affect dry down is so much better!!

Never used side effect. Naxos is too thick. Too sweet for men. I’ve worn it 15 or 20 times and never received any love. Only complaints. Exclusif? I’m a better than average looking guy and whenever I wear it I get free alcohol from flight attendants, hit on at the bar, free sodas from hotel workers, told “I could eat you” the list goes on. But there is trick to how I use it: First I apply a vanilla/ lavender base body lotion. Exclusif in its own right is a bit too harsh. So I apply one spray to the back of the neck for the scent trail and one to my right wrist. I then spray Layton to both sides of my neck and my left wrist. So I create this apple/lavender/patchouli/vanilla bubble with a trail of Oud, oak moss and pepper. You can get a sweeter effect if use Kalan/Exclusif. With that combo I had a female associate tell me “ I have to step away from you because whatever you are wearing is making me feel inappropriate”.
