Amritha Institutions.. 🙋‍♂️.. Agreed.. Studied way back in 2002. From hostel to campus we need to cross a small lake. If a girl stepped inside the boat we boys cant enter. 🥴.. We need to fetch another boat. Two separate route to college.. One for boys another for girls 😁. I once wrote an apology for flouting this rule 🤭🤭. I was rebuked in staff room for having crush towards my Junior 😁😁... The list can go endless, majority I forgot. Time flies..😎

I am so happy Amrita was mentioned. Those guys are nuts. I was once yelled at by a professor for talking to my teacher. Since the teacher looked young, he assumed she was a student and we both were 'up to something'. When my teacher said that she is a teacher, he started yelling at the even more telling her something akin to 'you should know better'. The same idiot has yelled at my roommate for walking around campus with his sister. Even the no shorts rule. I don't get it. People will come to the canteens wearing lungis, which are folded above their knees, but shorts were not allowed. Crazy people, I tell you. Thanks for covering this topic, News Minute!

No wonder the educational quality of the private colleges in this country is very bad. Most of our graduates are unemployable in good companies because their colleges never had skill enhancement as their priorities. It's these unnecessary moral policing and restrictions their only priority which even the parents of the students also prefer unfortunately.

The authorities in order to escape from their wild mistakes they usually say this special dialogue to butterup parents like "we did it cuz we give prominence to discipline...we have to make our students a good citizen"....(students are actually tired and sick of their consistent tortures) Actually this all happens due to narrow-mindedness of people...cuz human is the enemy of human from the beginning itself!

@harshinir115
@harshinir115 Жыл бұрын
@@sibyvadakel9336 This isn't about preventing them. It is about how parents still have orthodox mindsets and send their kids to certain types of colleges which uphold these orthodox practices. And when parents make such a decision, it is not in the hands of their kids to oppose them. The decision is forced upon their kids. To be very frank, the parents of students who study in such colleges would find nothing wrong in the way the students are being treated. So it is not just the colleges that are to be blamed but also the fault of parents who continue to be supportive of such practices.

There are so many facets to this incident that needs to be discussed. First of all , all of us, should stop addressing them as kids/children (kuttikal). They are adults and have the right in the society to do anything and everything that legally is permissible. Second, these institutions take the onus of disciplining the students and push it to such an extreme because they have the support of mallu parents. Parents while looking for a hostel or college are looking essentially for a jail - a safe transfer from home jail to college jail. Third, the society , in general, in Kerala also impose such moral policing on, not just students but also on general public and they enjoy doing it, condone people who do it. Fourth, our students should be brought up with a mindset to determine their destiny and be trained to live independently by the age of 18. They should be able to fund their own education via part time jobs or loans. That would make them more independent and empowered to question those who impose such draconian rules on them. Fifth, the government is bound by their loyalty to these very powerful religious institutions and hence they are responsible for NOT taking adequate action against the perpetrators and conversely, helping them get away. Lastly, somebody please break down that sky walk! It is an abomination on the entire society!! BREAK THE SKYWALK! MAKE IT FALL!

I saw what my seniors posted about my college after their graduation on social media. One of them travelled from home to hostel and they reached the hostel by sharing a cab with a professor who took advantage of her during that ride. When complained to the warden she was slutshamed for getting into a cab with a male (even tho it was her teacher) and for travelling in late night trains and buses. I was shocked at the warden's reaction and that she had to hide this until she graduated so she could find it safe to share.

As far as hair and beard goes, grooming is good... Because my college (govt college) was verrrrrryyyy liberal regarding all these. And some guys literally turned up as if they were homeless. Some amount of restrictions are needed ... If we look at army / military training we can see the strict desciple that attracts respect.. I'm not saying normal colleges should have something similar... But maintaining a decorum at educational institutions/ work places make it more respected. In the age of woke culture, anyyyy restriction/ criticism is considered negative - which is not the case.

This is a debatable topic. On the one hand we need safety of youngsters, especially girls and many parents want their wards to be safe. These colleges have regulations which all parents have ageed and signed. Second on the other side we can argue that, regressive measures used to curtail incidents that can harm young ones, harm the society at large should be done away. So what is the root cause? 1 The mindsets of society especially towards young girls 2 The modern fashionable dressings 3 Social media partly. 4 Modern progressive thoughts. Can we ignore or banish the points 2,3,4 ? No, we need a balance. How do we do this? Point 1 where the mindset of the society needs a change. Here a educational system that supports all, safety, co-education, healthy, equal opportunities, equal status and largely a progressive mindset needs to be inculcated. Here we all citizens, society, colleges, political , educationist, intellectuals, experts, governments are all stakeholders. Just blaming institutions may not be the solution. That is a myopic view.

Even after knowing all this why are all going to join these colleges,in many cases the parents and students are aware of the rules and they are knowingly signed in written document before joining to college ( in Kerala) , so if they are victimized you're absolutely correct else it seems like , after joining army training complaining it's hard doesn't make any sense I partially agree with you mam , since it feels like celebrating a controversial subject, might lead to wrong message And at some point you're reporting seems to be biased ( hence neglecting many things) Being a journalist with good years of experience , knowing that it's not a debate since you're reporting from your one-side documentary. " if you ensure that a coin has two sides " you're reporting will be more valid and helpful And i accept the points on , the rules or considerations must be equal, no one is allowed to intrude in privacy, and human rights needs to be ensured "for all " And kindly include, increasing drug usage in Kerala ( you can see many reports) also you can research on in-human acts towards even kids and women even from same blood relation ( how can a college management ensure whole safety of students without common set rules)
