I was worried what would happen when Sexton came back. Jerm-Uli is too good to toss aside, but Big Sexy is OG and still supreme. Turns out it was a trio all along! They're so good together, all three of them. Big Jerm's goofiness, Uli's dry, self deprecating humor, and Nate's almost poetic sick burns and puns all gel together nicely. It's really good to see.

Funny but not accurate, The rules for illegal practice throw do not state where you can or can't stand to set aside your disc. 809.03 - A practice throw is any throw that is not made as a competitive attempt to change the lie, except for a throw that is made either to set aside an unused disc or to return a disc to a player and that travels less than five meters in the air. A drop is not a practice throw.

I'd be mad for someone calling that on me during a casual round unless there was cash on the round. It's not even necessarily an illegal putt: 802.01 Throw A. A throw is the propulsion and release of a disc in order to change it's position. Each throw that is made as a competitive attempt to change the lie is counted. This obviously wasn't a competitive attempt to change the lie and he was just throwing his disc back to his bag. It's irrelevant where he was standing.

I have to say you guys are the best. It was weird hearing the Jomez transition sample that was alway apart of the tour videos as things opened up during covid. I had covid and a lot of those videos came out during that time. It really put me in that moment again. Whoa, indescribable. I am ultimately lucky how mild it was for me. But what a moment in time. They were only a little hard on Jerm, for the meme. In a tournament throwing his driver that far would have been a stroke no matter where he was throwing from (anything over 6 feet is a stroke). The unwritten (sometimes spoken) rule for practice rounds is that your first shot is the scoring shot, no matter how many tries you make (it's practice - multiple tries are expected for a tricky shot). Since Jerm planted on his lie he's got no room to argue, even if it doesn't really make sense to putt with a driver toward his bag. It may be practice, but it's still a competition.

I just rewatched the throw, the rule is 15 feet not 6 feet. It was probably more than 15 feet, but they did not mention the foot placement when returning a disc to another player or to set aside an unused disc in the rulebook, and I did not see them measure the distance of the throw. But the intent also was to return the disc to his bag not to change his lie. All the rules are to promote fairness also according to the rulebook. This all to me seems like it wouldn't be fair to me being as that was not his intent, this is a practice round and that was clearly established when they made fun of Uli for saying provisional. If I was trying to be fair, the intent was to return his disc to his bag not to change the lie of his disc. I suppose in a tournament the 15 feet might be the part of the rule that might normally take precedence, but this is a practice round and they have been flipping their discs instead of marking them etc, a friendly round should not be this by the book kind of determination in my opinion, I could see why Jerm would think if his intent to return a disc to his bag would be ok even of it was a few extra feet than provisional being as it was a practice round and they were not all playing by the book, if that rule is to be taken that literally then all their practice throws, their flipped discs etc. should be strokes as well. How many of them are guilty of that stuff?

I love how these guys are showing the difference practice makes. What I mean is this: Ricky is posting videos of himself solo, focusing on disc golf and showing his serious intention to win tournaments. These guys go out and practice by throwing shade at each other. It's great practice for the booth--which is where these three all do their best work...while Ricky wins tournaments. :) NOTE: I realize they played this round for fun, and probably don't actually practice like this. But the point remains that taking practice seriously is how a player gets better.
