OCD = (most of the time) Entitled 'look at me, look at me' Millenial. But at least Jon has turned it into legitimately funny act, that's something. Not at all the case for most OCD 'sufferers', who are usually self indulgent bores.

Further more regarding Russell after finding this out and watching his reaction as he was reminded of it I now loath Russell. Whe he lived with Jon, knowing that Jon suffered with OCD he would taunt Jon about it. On one occasion Jon arrived home to find that Russell had covered the radiator in Jon's bedroom in cheese. It is just such a sh%t thing to do and that last thing anybody would need least of all an OCD sufferer. But when Jon reminded Russell of this he was eye rolling and whatevering facially the whole time.
@adamplace14142 жыл бұрын
I think technically Jon has OCPD, obsessive compulsive personality disorder. In other words he exhibits the outward traits common to OCD, without trying to dismiss or be ashamed of them, and without the obsessive thoughts causing the compulsions. Sorry to be the internet comment section pedant, but I think with how many people misuse and misunderstand OCD (the worst case being by the commenter above) it's important to get right. OCD is when a person thinks "if I close the door just the right way, my aunt Lisa won't die in a car crash, " and then proceeds to close the door repeatedly until it's "right." OCPD thinks there is a right way to close a door to ensure the latch audibly catches, even if the door locks securely, and repeatedly closes the door for that reason. And by the way, that's not armchair diagnosis: that's what Jon himself says he has. It's just for brevity's sake that they say obsessive compulsive on the show. So I'm not knocking him nor his condition. Just different causes.

@@SirHilaryManfat as much as I do agree with you, I must say it has been recognised that OCD and BPD and other such conditions are nowadays overdiagnosed.

Finally you're reacting to my boy Jon! Love your reactions, as usual. His stand-up bit about unloading the dishwasher is probably the most "reaction worthy" that I can think of right now, even if there's plenty of videos from his stand-up here on KZbin that are really funny. There's a lot of compilations with him on panel shows that are hilarious as well. Oh and he's had a couple of shows, one about "worrying" (Ultimate Worrier? Or something like that?) and one about commenting TV shows from overseas (Channel Hopping) which are quite funny. Maybe a little bit more niche than 8 Out Of 10 Cats & Countdown, but I also like those.

*Jon used to share a large (7 or 8 bedroom?) house in Kingston-upon-Thames (a posh part of London), with a whole scutch of fellow comedians/best mates. Russell Howard, Matt Forde, Roisin Conaty, John Robbins, Isy Suttie, Danny Buckler, and James Acaster. There were probably others over the 2.5 years Jon lived there. But I believe it was a complete mad house, but an ideal set-up to get their collective comedic talents flowing. Yes, Jon has suffered with OCD most of his life. In a way, that's how he began in stand-up. Talking (jokingly) about some of the things that really pissed him off in life. He still has OCD but it's been noticeably better since he began therapy for it the year before he married Lucy.* *PS - As someone has already mentioned, the man whose name you couldn't remember is David Walliams. He's a man of many talents. His biggest earner to date has been writing children's books, all of which have gone on to be best sellers. They've also netted him around £28 million to date! At this rate he'll end up richer than Simon Cowell 😀. But yes, you really should check out "Little Britain". A comedy sketch show he did with Matt Lucas (before they had a tiff and fell out with each other regarding David marrying a young lady just so she could get British citizenship (it's a long story!)*

The foam is used in futbol to mark the 10 yards of required distance for a defending team to set up a wall of players on a free kick. I wish they hadn't cut off his explanation of why he had the ref spray it on the desk, because it is quite good. Jon also was part of a BBC Documentary on O.C.D. I'm pretty sure it's on KZbin still. It really is quite good and informative.

And I’m wondering what you feel you have in common with those far away places. One thing I as a Brit find amazing is You are roughly 1400 miles From New York and LA 1000 to New Orleans and about 700 to Chicago. (And about 4400 miles Kansas City to London). How does it feel to be so far away and also what do you think about those people who refer to you as a flyover state? Anyway you seem a very pleasant couple and remarkably in touch with what’s going on

Once upon a time there was a famous house in Bristol where lots of comedians lived together including Jon, Russell Howard, Jon Robins and Mark Olver (Jon Robins is also famous as a standup/radio presenter and podcast person, Mark Olver is a stand up and renowned TV warmup man). They all went to the University of Bristol and were big up and comers in the local comedy scene before becoming circuit comedians and then progressing to TV. He details a lot of the abuse and ribbing the others would give him in his stand up and multiple appearances on tv due to his EXTREME OCD. He eventually moved out and lived alone in Swindon for years, not speaking to anyone and living an almost hermit life apart from gigging as detailed in his book 'It's not me, it's you'. Russell moved in with his girlfriend in Leamington Spa. Robins moved to London. Olver still lives in Bristol and has a rolling list of comedian lodgers staying with him.
