I’m seeing a lot of people complain this isn’t medical, well yes it isn’t necessarily about science, it’s about patient treatment which is still the largest portion of the medical field. If you don’t learn how to treat a patient properly by making them feel comfortable and respected then you are just as bad a doctor as one that doesn’t know any of the actual medical science knowledge. Most people are here to learn about something, probably science, but just because a video comes out about a topic that is slightly different doesn’t mean you should immediately hate on it. You are still here for some type of education so why does the topic of this one immediately become bad just because it’s not about science or a topic you don’t want to learn about. If you didn’t want to learn about it in the first place, why did you click on the video. And Osmosis if you see this comment, I personally love this video and thank you so much for educating people on this topic, it is so important nowadays, even if it does get a lot of hate from some people who are closed-minded.

It's about a degradation of society in the form of a nuclear family. When there is NOT both a mother and a father doing their individual parts together as parents, the chances of their children forming a proper understanding of the roles of both men and women in society and families decreases significantly. When this happens you have people who believe it's okay to have sex outside of marriage, which means they "explore" their sexuality and eventually come to the many "identities" and "orientations" that we see today. It's pure INSANITY to believe that there are more genders than male and female. There simply is not. We are not amphibians, reptiles, or any other form of animal.

@Josh the Art Critic Are you sure? I literally know intersex people who use the term to describe themselves in present day-- what's the alternative?
@echelus4 жыл бұрын
@Josh the Art Critic In all honesty, it's not my place to know or want to find out. That's their own information about their bodies to divulge to whoever they see fit. I absolutely understand that there are specific ways to represent the certain specifics of being intersex, but the point is that intersex is the umbrella term for people who do not have genitalia that corresponds to the standard definitions of the male and female sex. That's how I use it here, and if people want to introduce themselves in terms of more specificity, they can absolutely do it. Both general and specific terms are important, I don't think that one is outdated while the other isn't; it simply is that one is more specific than the other. It's like... take the condition of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Different patients with IBS will have different subsets of the same condition (IBS-D, IBS-C and IBS-M), but you can still say the person has IBS; it's just not as specific.

bisexual can also mean what pansexual means, the definition is subjective and means different things to different people. The only difference I'd say there is with pansexual is that if someone identifies as pan you know they are specifically saying they are attracted to anyone regardless of gender, but if someone is bi they might not think that. so basically, there's no point in saying they are different bc sometimes they are the same and I also don't think there's any point in trying to strictly define bisexual

So the premise from the first 90 seconds is XX chromosomally, biologically female and XY male, but there are rare mutations/deviations/exceptions where there may be a gene that doesn't align with presentation and that these may be intersex. So now we've gone from normal, more than 99.9% male/female with a rare, less than 0.1% intersex grouping to the claim that there is a spectrum. There clearly is a missing explanation here or the claim of a spectrum is false. We've got XY/XX for greater than 99.9% and than a variety of inconsistencies labeled as intersex. You could claim a spectrum for those inconsistencies, but the evidence of a spectrum from XY to XX. Take a 12 inch ruler. The spectrum would look like the first 5.995 inches on the left are male, the 5.995 inches on the right are female and the middle 0.01 inches are intersex. From there if you wanted to focus on that 0.01 inches you could put classifications such as XX chromosome with increased testosterone and XY chromosome with increased estrogen and a variety of other abnormalities. Labeling the entire ruler a spectrum seems like a misrepresentation of the underlying facts. If you want to label the middle 0.01 inches a spectrum, that seems more appropriate. If the middle 0.01 inches that represents intersex associated abnormalities is a spectrum, then we could look at every abnormality from a perfectly healthy human as a spectrum from finger count to cancer. I will watch a few more videos to see if there is any actual science behind using the term spectrum for the 11.99 inches on the ruler or conclude that this is a false pseudoscience without any basis in an objective, scientifically provable reality and instead an opinion based on subjective feelings in practice.

I’m gay myself and saying homosexual is not wrong per say as it is the correct terminology scientifically and a lot of people don’t have a problem with it, but it mostly just comes down to just being easier to say and wanting to feel normal. Having to say homosexual is just more wordy than it needs to be. Since you don’t know I’m guessing you are straight (forgive me if I am wrong) and if you think about it for yourself saying you are straight just seems a bit more normal than saying you’re heterosexual, and for us just saying gay makes it feel just a little more normal and less different. Also gay has sort of become more of a blanket statement in the community to say that you are different than people who are straight.

without GOD, love is absent, and because of this any sexual, romantic attraction towards the same gender is actually lust. and since anyone who chooses to be partners with the same gender, it goes against GOD's design for mankind, and therefore, GOD isn't the center of that love, meaning that that love is not love at all, it's lust. and lust is adultery, which is of course a sin. and all sin leads to death. but the LORD can save you. JESUS died for us, sinners, so that through HIM alone, we may have everlasting life and die to sin and live in righteousness. we must be born again to enter the Kingdom of GOD, and a result from being born again is the HOLY SPIRIT WHO will now live and dwell inside of us and one of the gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT is self control, meaning, that attraction no longer is something you blindly and easily fall into, but you now are guided and protected by GOD. Biological sex is either male or female. Contrary to what is commonly believed, sex is defined not by chromosomes or our genitals or hormonal profiles, but by gametes, which are mature reproductive cells. There are only two types of gametes: small ones called sperm that are produced by males, and large ones called eggs that are produced by females. There are no intermediate types of gametes between egg and sperm cells. Sex is therefore binary. It is not a spectrum. Similar to sex, gender - both with regard to identity and expression - is biological. It is not a social construct, nor is it divorced from anatomy or sexual orientation. Despite what contemporary scholars may have you believe, all of these things are very much linked. Biology, not society, dictates whether we are gender-typical or atypical, the extent to which we identify as the sex we were born as, and the partners we are sexually attracted to. Anyone who brings in the phenomenon of 'intersex' to supposedly demonstrate that sex is non-binary has not fully understood it either. Intersex people are people born with a mix of what is masculine and feminine. But even intersex people can still be defined as male or female by checking which of his or her two genitals are active. If it produces sperm, it is a male. If she produces eggs, it is a female. It is biology, hate it or love it.

Biological sex exists on a spectrum? I’m sorry but this displays just a fundamental ignorance about what a spectrum is. And what sex is… at least the common biological usage. To say a variable exists on a spectrum is to say sex is a continuous variable that can be represented on a parameterized axis. What is on the x axis here? What variable(s) shift sex one way or the other? Are male and female points on this spectrum? If so… what’s another one? What’s, say, directly to the right of “male”? If these questions can’t be answered… sex isn’t a spectrum.

Advice for young men. Your energetic and enthusiastic twenties are incredibly valuable. They are a fantastic springboard which will only happen once and they don't last a long time so they should be used and lived wisely. Concentrate on your education and your career. Adopt a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and a good diet. Get involved in interesting and possibly demanding pursuits and experiences. Learn about personal finance. Develop friendships with like-minded people. Then when you reach your thirties and for all the years beyond, you can really enjoy the long-term benefits of what you've achieved and established in your twenties. You will become a person with whom other interesting and attractive people will want to engage and develop relationships. Let others concern themselves with orientation, identity and pronouns.

Why do you think that being intersex is rare, especially if these traits, more often than not, do not manifest clearly to the naked eye? Why? Do you think that being intersex is just having two gonads? My god. We don't know a lot about biological sex, even after centuries of studies, but the increasing evidence of this biological variety shows us that the concept of spectrum is not strange after all, and shouldn't be shut down as a 'minor anomaly'

@@asherayeras9200 Abstract Anne Fausto-Sterling s suggestion that the prevalence of intersex might be as high as 1.7% has attracted wide attention in both the scholarly press and the popular media. Many reviewers are not aware that this figure includes conditions which most clinicians do not recognize as intersex, such as Klinefelter syndrome, Turner syndrome, and late-onset adrenal hyperplasia. If the term intersex is to retain any meaning, the term should be restricted to those conditions in which chromosomal sex is inconsistent with phenotypic sex, or in which the phenotype is not classifiable as either male or female. Applying this more precise definition, the true prevalence of intersex is seen to be about 0.018%, almost 100 times lower than Fausto-Sterling s estimate of 1.7%.

I am by no means an expert on Sex and Gender Studies, but I think there is something you are missing: Let's suppose we only look at the approx. 0.02% of Intersex people. Relatively speaking, this of course is a small number, but in absolute numbers we are talking about 1.6 million people* world wide which is not much, but by no means an insignificant amount. However, I can understand that one thinks differently on this, because in a way, relatively speaking, it arguably really is not to be fair. (*0.02 Percent of 8 billion people right now; approximations that I think are acceptable. Population from the worldometer and the world population review; the percentage of intersex people may be higher, but this is the lowest consensus that exists and anything higher is at least to some degree debatable, so lets go with that for now.) Now, the point you might have overlooked if I understood you correctly: As the video itself states, Sex is different from Gender. Also many/most Transgender persons are persons, who are (relatively) binary in their sex as we have seen, that almost everyone on earth is either male or female at birth - but exactly this is the gist of transgender: One does not feel in accordance to the sex one has biologically at the time of birth, or to put it in even more accurate words: One does not feel the match between themselves and the "stereotypical" male gender, which they should have due to their male sex, and thus they lean towards a more feminine gender or no gender at all - hence being "trans"-gender or maybe even agender. I do not really understand, what it feels like to be transgender, as I am of male Sex, and identify as a male Gender and so are you probably if I may assume, but maybe it helps to think of sexuality, too: What has been considered normal is a male loving a female; but there are many people - past and present - that felt otherwise. They do not have a "gene defect" or at least none that is currently known and understood in scientific literature, and yet they were diverging from the norm. It is easier to understand why an intersex person may feel a different sexuality, but non-intersex people can also have it as we can see in both famous and personal cases. Now, lets transpose that towards Gender: It is easy to understand, why Intersex People would not feel in accordance to their sex at birth, and it understandably gets harder to understand the same for non-intersex people. Yet, this is what "happens" to a number of people in the world. Lastly, maybe your perspective is skewed: I don't have statistics at hand right now, but I am sure that a majority of people in the LGBT Community are "there for their Sexuality and not for their Gender"*. So, there are not billions of people questioning their Gender, but still many millions. (*Firstly: I know, terrible wording; but I think everyone knows what I mean. Secondly: I know, there are quite many people who "are there for both and more") And to go deeper into the Intersex-being-a-spectrum-or-not topic of yours: Yes, in some ways, Sex is/has the smallest Spectrum as the numbers of Intersex people are smaller than the people of transgender or non heterosexual people, but it is a spectrum nonetheless. As already said: if you think, that this spectrum is insignificant, then okey! I don't think the same, but I can at least understand where you're coming from. But please keep in mind, that Sex and Gender (and Sexuality) are completely different things and that even Sex is, by definition, a spectrum, as some factors come into play more or less, that result in a gradual instead of a noncontinuous change of state. There is no "cups"-system where one has either 5 cups of testosterone or 10. And here lies the distinction between Sex and Fingercount: One can not have 5.1 fingers on one hand (at most, one can have 5 fingers and one finger that is about one tenth of a normal finger, but what is a normal finger and what length do you take for that? The length of the thumb, the pinky or the middle finger? What is the "correct length" of a sixth finger? Or is it even a finger or is it rather just a small nob sticking out of your hand? do you have muscle control over that little nob of flesh? you see the problem?), but one can have "5.1 cups" of testosterone instead of "5". Cancer, on the other hand, can be seen as a spectrum and the evolution of cancer actually is spectral: There are clearly defined features to differentiate a metastatic tumor from a nonmetastatic one, but apart from that it is all just a gradual growth of tumor size depending on location, generated mutations, effectiveness of the immune system, proliferation speed, speed of angiogenesis etc. There is one clear thing, that would negate biological Sex being a spectrum, but that is defined only by A the resolution of the universe and the measuring methods due to the plank length, plank time and Heisenberg uncertainty principle, and B the resolution of biological (or chemical or physical) systems in a sense that there are not 5.1 testosterone molecules but only 5 or 6. However, I think we both can agree, that these resolution effects are negligible. So, to conclude my comment: 1. I think you have missed the potential of there being more Intersexual people in the world as Asher has stated, but to be completely fair: We still don't know the real number. 2. I can understand, why you think that the amount of people being Intersex is "insignificant" or at least not that significant as it seems and as it is portrayed as. However, I do think differently on that; I do think that even the "rarer biological phenomenons" - like some people would maybe call it - are still highly significant, or otherwise, many rare diseases would also all be insignificant. 3. Sex is not Gender and both are, in turn, different from Sexuality. 4. All of that what I have talked about is a spectrum. Even if it is small, it nonetheless is. And last but very very very much not least: I actually think it is awesome that someone, who is skeptic* towards these topics, actually tries to understand it and watches some videos about it. And no matter whether you change your opinion or not: As long as you don't judge other people and are not a dick towards them - which I wholeheartedly do not believe that you do / are -, I am fine with it. Just be aware, that some people in the community react very sensitive to such "insensitive" comments of yours, but also keep in mind in what position they are: They do not want to be confronted with negativity or even hatred and just want to live their lives peacefully - some of them may overreact which is by all means not good, but understandable. And I think of you and your standpoint in a very similar way: not good in my opinion, but actually understandable in some key points. (*Skepticism meant in a good way! One needs to stay critical, especially in science, while keeping all eyes and ears open for other opinions, interpretations, facts etc.) Is there something that I have maybe missed or misunderstood? please tell me, I'd love to know

It is indeed a pseudoscience. I have yet to find an article that supports this wishy washy idea of gender and sex. In fact evidence points to the opposite. It's the same thing as saying that insulin doesn't push glucose into the cell because there are people with Diabetes who are insensitive to insulin. That doesn't change the fact that insulin functions to move glucose into cells. It's the same thing with gender. A person born with XX chromosomes is a female. When that baby grows up they will grow up to become and adult female Aka a woman. Now if this wasn't true, then there would be no correlation between a persons chromosomes and their gender. Furthermore, it would mean a person would not never be able to tell whether someone is a man or a woman. The same way one cannot tell what day of the week a stranger was born. But this is obviously not true. Approach any random person on the street, chances are you will be able to tell their gender. It isn't because we are all psychic but it is because sex and gender are two sides of the same coin. YES. I am happy to concede that there are some exceptions where this may not apply. however, this is not the rule and it should not be treated as the rule. This is the EXCEPTION. And people who fall under this exception need to be treated with respect and should be addressed the way that they would like because the rule does not apply to them. But it is ridiculous to act as if gender is this imaginary social construct that should be ignored when dealing with people on a day to day basis.

However the presumption is in regarding to other adoptions of vocabulary are not entirely accurate and would have been better left as a strait question. I am not keen on the word strait for heterosexual, but you are right to a degree that it bugs me less for reasons i could explain in depth, but in short, what bothers me is not a word being used as an adverb to describe a phenomenon or trend rather, the verb being outright stolen and reassign to a different meaning, the word "gay" is almost never used synonymously with happy because of its over use synonymously with homosexual, where as no one has a bother using "straight" or "bent" in conjunction with many unrelated sentences. The movement stems from perverted physicians like John Money where they coined the term ‘gender’. Reading most comments, I think there is a lot of talking past each other. Let me try to clear a few things up. When people defend the traditional gender=sex view, I don't think people are disputing the reality of the feelings or beliefs of the individual who feels or believes to be a certain gender. What they are disputing is whether those feelings and beliefs represent reality correctly. Psychiatry and psychopathology are full of examples of feelings and beliefs that are delusional. It is simply an empirical question whether certain gender-related self-identifications are like that or not. Here, most people on the left interject, "but there is no reality in gender to represent other than your own beliefs and feelings." I am not sure about that, in part because that renders the content of gender identification empty. Because on that view, I am a man if I believe that I am a man. But what is that thing that I believe to be, if there is nothing to it other than the belief? If that's too abstract, consider this: Suppose I say, "I am a waskjdaa if I believe I am a waskjdaa." Here, it is fair to ask, "What is a waskjdaa?" If my response to that question is, "Waskjdaa is just something I believe to be", then you would understandably be confused. Likewise, without being anchored into something external, objective or at least inter-subjective, gender terms are meaningless because meaning can't be purely subjective. Meaning is an emergent feature of communication; when something can't be communicated in principle, it by definition is devoid of meaning. If all there is to being a man, woman, or anything in between is believing to be one, then "man", "woman", etc are empty terms. Maybe they are, or at least they should be empty terms. In fact, I can understand a radical political stance where your goal is to abolish gender terms by uncovering them to be empty. But you can't just claim that the perspective presented in this video is the scientific truth by definition, and everyone who disagrees with it should just go read a book. Even Trans scholars like Bettcher don't claim that it is simply a matter of definition. That's why, although I am skeptical of both sides in this debate, I can wrap my mind around the revolutionary leftist who says gender is meaningless and the conservative who says being a gender is at least in part tied to biological and behavioral factors associated with biological sex. The people in the middle who claim, " gender is just what you feel/believe to be," like the author of this video, those, I don't understand. And I have a suspicion that there is nothing to be understood, because theirs is an incoherent position.

@A.J. 232737 I am not saying thoughts, beliefs and feelings can't have meaning or be communicated. I am saying, for thoughts, beliefs or feelings to mean anything, they need to be about something. "I believe I am a man" isn't about anything if "man" is a synonym for "Someone who believes to be a man." Substitution gives the circular "I believe that I am someone who believes to be a man." So, we have a dilemma: we either embrace the circularity and say that gender terms are meaningless, and quit making a fuss about misidentification, or we admit that there is external content to gender terms, like certain biological and behavioral characteristics associated with sex. There is no other option I can see. Perhaps you disagree. Let me know.

I understand the empathy of giving people the freedom to express their gender identity , sex etc.. I might be wrong here but to be honest, I think the reason people come up with so many gender identities, sexes , who they are attracted to or sometimes a lack of any identification is simply TOO MUCH TIME to think about these things . You don’t see an African mother of 10 who walk miles everyday to bring water to here children thinking if she is bi , asexual or non-binary etc.. or maybe she does , I could be wrong . But from my personal experience, having too much time and having the privilege of not thinking where your tap water comes from , gives me the time to think of some crazy shit . Hell today I almost diagnosed myself with Bipolar because I was bored . My point is instead of thinking too deeply or analyzing who you are attracted to or which gender you feel like today , maybe try to find a purpose in your life . Something that makes you think of nothing else . A passion that you can dedicate your life to and be free of your quest for people’s validation .

But the gist of this is that when you’re life is on the line , you don’t think about these things . Which begs the question , are these feelings/desires REAL or are they product of my mind being bored or needing validation from other people ? I know what it feels like to be special because you’re different in a way from people around you . And sometimes people want to create this feeling anyway they can , even if it’s subconscious

Hello, first of all, thank you for your effort for this informative video. I was going to talk to you briefly. I understand the difference between sexual orientation and gender identity, but some sources also keep sexual identity separate from them. According to one source, gender identity is the biological identity of individuals at birth, while sexual identity is how a person feels, male or female. But on the other hand, many sources define the two as the opposite. It is written on an article that gender identity is the personal sense of one's own gender; not the gender assigned at birth. What do you think? Thanks!

Transgenderism remains a wholly incoherent worldview. One in which people confuse gender itself with gender roles and norms (or appeal to circular reasoning). One in which they insist others are incorrect in using terms like "man" or "woman" while being unable to provide objective, workable definitions for these terms themselves. And one in which they often equate disagreement with hate, which is not only illogical but dangerous.

without GOD, love is absent, and because of this any sexual, romantic attraction towards the same gender is actually lust. and since anyone who chooses to be partners with the same gender, it goes against GOD's design for mankind, and therefore, GOD isn't the center of that love, meaning that that love is not love at all, it's lust. and lust is adultery, which is of course a sin. and all sin leads to death. but the LORD can save you. GOD bless you!

The only issue I have with people identifying as man or women is that they take a word with years of growth, such as women’s fight for equal rights, and claim it as their own. I don’t care if they want to identify as a specific personality (gender identity), but there should be different words. Feminine and masculine work. It’s basically the same case as race. Just because you identity with a culture of a different race, that doesn’t mean you get to all of a sudden say you want to identify as black (maybe because you typically have a more bold and confident personality) even if you are white. This is because you are taking the years of history of the fight for rights for black people, and claiming it as your own even though you don’t have ancestors who had to live through that. However, if you want to identify your personality as bold or confident; I have no problem with that. Just use different words that aren’t associated with that type of history. Bold and confident in this case. So since the pronoun “she” already as such a rich history of people who are both biologically and personality feminine, it should stay that way. If someone is biologically a female but identify as a male, there should be a different term. That way, everyone is getting the same amount of respect and there isn’t any confusion. Same case for bathrooms. It should account for both physical qualities and personality qualities; so around 7 combinations (feminine females, masculine females, non-binary females, non-binary males, masculine males, feminine males, non-binary intersex). However, since that isn’t really realistic to have so many different bathroom types; we need to learn social tolerance. The world keeps getting more and more unique by the day, to the point its pointless to try to divide people up into categories. We all just need to get along. Bathrooms primary function is to maximize efficiently based on sex: so if we just stick to the 3 types of sex and learn to practice tolerance among personality identities, that is a more manageable way for society to function.

I don't understand some of your reasoning, maybe you can help me:). You start of with saying that it's problematic if a person chooses to identify with a gender different than their assigned sex at birth, since this would mean they claim something they have not been part of. My question is then, is it necessary to be a woman in order to fight for woman's rights? Secondly, is it not racist to assume a bold and confident personality is associated with being a black person. What are you basing this on? Skin colour is a description of appearance and it would indeed be strange to depict a red car as blue. I don't understand at all how ancestry comes into play in this debate. If a white person was adopted to a black family, they would experience as much of their culture as a person born biologically in that family. I'm a bit frightned by your third paragraph. Segregation and alienation are strong precursors for descrimination. I think it's unfortunate you continously bring history into your reasoning. We are living today and nobody on earth has experienced nothing but a tiny portion of human history. I agree with some of your last phrases. We all need to find respect for each other. However, rather than talking about divisions of bathrooms based on sex, perhaps a more fruitful topic would be to discuss what brings feelings of uncomfortability in those who, for example, object transgender to use bathrooms concordant with their gender. I don't mean to invalidate your right to present your thoughts and only hope to be part of a healthy debate. These things should be talked about so it's good different views comes into light. Thanks!
@liliacfury3 жыл бұрын
@@KIibbi I find problematic to be a strong word, but in a way, yes; it brings new issues that need solving. I wish it didn’t have to be this way, but there are always going to come new questions that need answering the more unique future generations become in a society that’s foundation was not so diverse. I find it important that these questions be addressed in order to put an end to transphobia. One of the issues arising because of this was yes, someone who does struggle with the day to day life of being a woman may feel offended that someone who doesn’t have to go through those struggles takes the title of being a woman. This isn’t to say that people can’t label themselves as being a woman’s right activist if you are one (regardless of sex, gender, etc.), because anyone can be one, and anyone who is one also struggled through hardships since anyone affiliated with the movement was looked down upon. And yes, I did consider the racist possibilities of my comment when I typed it. However, the reason I went through with it is because of how determining your gender is based on the stereotype of a sex. People don’t say they are a woman when they are biological male without feeling a connection to the stereotypes of being a woman, vice versa. Additionally, I think it’s important to make cultures known, but yes; it’s equally important to not use a common culture among races to label someone with a personality as one way or the other. As for the third paragraph, I was merely just trying to propose a solution in way to make distinctions on those who have distinctions among traits. And while yes, this is a possibility to allow for segregation, it also has other uses that can be used for good. For example, it’s inevitable for different applications of scenarios on those with different traits to work better for one person or the other, seeing that they have fundamental differences. However, if distinctions were to be made in order to receive the benefit sides of making distinctions, it’d definitely be important to address the disbenefits, like racism and segregation, seeing that one person shouldn’t be treated worse or greater than an other just because of how they were born. As for your suggestions on alternative solutions to the bathroom issues, that is definitely a solution. My goal in proposing a solution of my own was to make sure to address the fact that while it is important to consider the satisfaction of a minority, a majority still are people with feelings and shouldn’t be discredited with such. Additionally, I wanted to assert that people are so diverse it becomes increasingly difficult to find a solution that works for everyone, so in a search for those ideal solutions, it should be everyone’s goal to be open minded of the fact that people around you have different needs that you, and that it’s important to respect that while also respecting yourself. I am very grateful you were very respectful about your disagreement, I get a backlash in my opinions seeing that they can be looked at in many different ways.

The arguments you are presenting are in deed interesting. However, Saying that transgender women identifying as women would unjustly entitle them to credit for work, growth and history that they didn't work for is kind of presumptive and ignorant at best, and at worst, comes from a place of unquestioned privilege. Moreover, it doesn't take into account the reality of the lived experiences of millions of people who experience injustice on a daily basis, and it undermines the history of the growth and the work you are defending. To start off, transgender women lose, not gain, privilege by identifying as women. And if we account for other factors such as race for example, transgender women of women color face discrimination and marginalization that is experienced by neither by biological women nor by people of color. If you are interested in women's rights, please look up "Intersectionality" to gain insight into how discrimination is compounded. Second, The women's rights movement and the LGBTQI+ movement have historically been each other's biggest allies; and a lot of the people who still fight for these rights belong to both communities, including transgender women being involved in the broader feminist movement. Most feminist activists believe that the women and LGBT+ rights movements are fighting the same systems of patriarchal oppression. I am a cisgender man from the "third" world who is a healthcare worker who is involved in the gender equality movement therefore not in the place to speake for women. But what I know is that where I come from (as well as in the rest of non-western world), last thing transgender women think about is credit in the face of the violence and killing they are facing. I am not writing this comment to criticize; but to hopefully share some insight. If you care about rights and history, reach out to your local women's rights organizations and ask about their take on the matter. I don't know who you are or what you do, But it's safe to say that they are more entitled and qualified to speak on such issues.

I think what most people are confused with when discussing about wether having a certain sexuality is a choice or not, *is that the "choice" part is not wether you have those feelings or not, it's wether to let them out or hold them back.* Feelings are natural, it came to everyone one day without us choosing, but it is a choice to let them out or hold them back. For example someone has a feeling to someone from the same g3n-d3r as they are, it's not their choice to have that feeling, but it's their choice wether to allow it or hold it back. Then again that choice is still up to you, you could let those feelings out, but it is fine if you decide to hold them back.

I have had girlfriends 50 years ago who were bisexual. And the only reason I knew is they came into me. Still friends. My aunt 35 years before I was born was bisexual. Everyone knew, her community knew, her boss & coworkers knew, her friends & family knew. All I remember about her growing up is that she knew how to fix automobiles, put a roof on her house, built a swimming pool, ect. And she had a partner who was in a domestic violence situation. Her and her son came to live with my aunt. They loved each other. When she passed she gave her the house. Even before the Democrats started shoving this sexual orientation down our throats my son's not had lesbians & gays in their large friends group. They always came over for parties. So again I don't see the issues. And I don't like being forced to call someone by their selected pronoun. Pronouns are ever evolving. It's like being a pathological liar just to get attention. I don't care about your sexual orientation, the same way I don't care about what religion or your skin color but if you shove it down my throat I do not like you. I don't shove it down people's throat about me being fat and you have to except that or else I am going to shove it down your throat. Maybe I will have some made up flag and laws just for us....the term "all people are equal under the law" means just that. But it's when you advocate for certain groups then equality gets screwed and then their is no equality. That's going on now. That's where people will start to hate you. Not because if sexual orientation but because you are receiving special compensation that everyone else does not get.

I totally agree with you. People can be whatever they want to be but that doesn't not make them any better or special than anyone else.

@@susan9188 that's the point actually. Still you will be surprised to know some people totally belittle or shame others who don't fit in the box. That's why people are trying to make it all more accessible and to provide informations to all the others who gets upset to see one person loving another person of the same sex.

Yeah the genetic and biological component is incorrect just because someone has a chroma zone that may not have all the active genes doesn’t mean that they are intersex…. Gene expression does not determine sex.. and there is a spectrum of characteristic but not of the sex. Also intersex would be someone that has two actual sexes which is extremely rare would require Add in or complete deletions or expression of both female and male sex genes simultaneously to develop both organs.. which doesn’t happen for the most part intersex is generally there is sexual organs that are ambiguous within the genitalia.. usually between the two types of Genitalia. this is a fallacy and Made up science we would call this a pseudoscience or a faux science.. This doesn’t mean that there is some other kind of dimorphic expression or mimicry as we find an evolution… but many of these people are artificially taking drugs so they can espouse different identities that are not biologically based in order to tilt the scales more in favor of the desired sex or gender… this is mimicry it is not transgenderism… or any of the things that they’re talking about i’ll say that there is nothing wrong with mimicry or sexual mimicry it does not make someone a bad person for mimicking another gender.. But they have completely got this wrong..

It's not true to say preferred name is gay not homosexual. The term gay initially used as an insult, and the term straight is used to give a positive connotation. So many gay men, like myself, prefer the term homosexual over the term gay.

So many "youtube college graduates" in the comments that act like they figured it out when they are not in healthcare, are not counselors, not doctors, and just "have figured it out". I actually work in healthcare and medicine and I promise you its not so simple as to say "you just have too much time on your hands". Also its important to recognize that the brain IS biology as well and if the brain is the source of our sense of self, then who is to say it's "wrong" or "just a feeling". EVERYTHING is a feeling. Trauma, ptsd, abuse....those are all based on FEELINGS that manifest as real issues. Feelings are valid and real. Also I totally understand that it is hard for someone who is not trans or lgbq to understand the concept. I am white and I will never understand the feeling of being asian or black. But ask yourself this, even if you questioned your sexuality and gender....you still know what it is right? So if you know your sexuality and gender, then so does everyone else. If you are a man and attracted to a woman, even if you have a period where you ask...maybe I like men, you can say with certainty now that you are not. I can do everything I can and you will still like women. So if that is true, it holds true for everyone else. If someone feels and identify as male or female regardless of their sex at birth, then it is just as valid. If you have ever seen the intense smile on a transgender persons face when they start their transition and compare it to how they didnt smile at all before.......you would understand how real it actually is. No one would put themselves through the struggles and medical issues of being trans or lgbq for no reason and definitely not out of fear. Trust that doctors and scientists understand this better than the general population.

I don't think people are disputing that feelings or beliefs themselves are real. What they are disputing is whether they represent reality. As someone who works in healthcare, you would acknowledge that, some feelings and beliefs are delusional states. It is an empirical question whether certain gender-related self-identifications are like that or not. Here, most people interject, "but there is no reality in gender to represent other than your own beliefs and feelings." I am not sure about that, in part because that renders the content of gender identification empty. Because on that view, I am a man if I believe that I am a man. But what is that thing that I believe to be, if there is nothing to it other than the belief? If I said, "I am a waskjdaa if I believe I am a waskjdaa," you would fairly ask, "What is a waskjdaa" and if I said, it is just something I believe to be, then you would understandably be confused. Likewise, without being anchored into something external, objective or at least inter-subjective, gender terms are meaningless. If all there is to being a man, woman, or anything in between is believing to be one, then "man", "woman", etc are empty terms. Maybe they are, or should be empty terms. But you can't just claim that the perspective presented in this video is the scientific truth, and everyone who disagrees with it should just go read a book. Even Trans scholars like Bettcher don't claim that it is simply a matter of definition. That's why, although I am skeptical of both sides in this debate, I can wrap my mind around the conservative position which says, being a gender is at least in part tied to biological and behavioral factors associated with biological sex.

I 100% support the LGBTQ community. I view humans as humans myself. I acknowledge it's real and no person is the same. Everyone should be what they want. But i think it's better to say there are 2 basic true biological genders and from those 2 basic biological genders there are combinations in between these 2 genders but should not be called a gender on it's own ( with all respect ). Few examples .. Non-binair could be called genderless instead of a gender. Trans person is a man that became a woman or a woman that became a man, It's not a gender by itself. Pangender liking people instead of a gender is not a gender by itself but a preference like bieng gay or bi. All these should be a called a titel or category instead of gender.

@dan690523 жыл бұрын
knowing the truth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! Sexual orientation is determined in the womb during fetus development. Various hormones are introduced at specific times to accomplish this .The fetus plays no part in this process. A person is, therefore, born with a predetermined attraction. It is, therefore, not a choice & consequently not a sin & not immoral. It is a natural expression of our species & found commonplace in nature. Intelligent research in this area clearly explains this process. If you are truly interested in truth, based on knowledge, the book Gay, Straight & the Reason Why by Dr. Simon Levay shows this with numerous research articles. If you want to understand the truth & have respect for yourself & others, that you are entitled to, this book will help. It also has, unlike the bible written over 2000 years ago by men that had no understanding of science, an extensive bibliography. I strongly recommend the book. The public must be exposed to facts & knowledge. It is an obligation for those who know the truth & must defend it. Don’t let the religious pull you down to their level of ignorance. Peace

"Okay, first of all let me start by saying that I think that I am more literal and logical in how I think..... rather than being an emotional or too sarcastic/Joking. As he explained, and responding to his explanations of these terms used I have this to say; gender is the most basic term for the two possible creations. Either you are male or female, and I do not say this to undermine others and their opinions nor do I say this to be hurtful or rude. What I am talking about has to do with more of what we can see versus how we feel or think about things. In my opinion (maybe I've already said this more than once or twice) the idea and/or thought is the same." "It's like saying that the sun is up when it is up and can be seen versus when the moon is up and can be seen. What you see is what it is. Literally speaking (as much as I cam because these are not the best analogies) it's like saying the moon is the moon (full or otherwise) but it can't see itself as such. The moon is the moon but it sees itself as the sunset. Even when the sunset is not an option, even when the sunset is more of an idea/mental understanding that you don't see as an understanding you see it as factual or just your actual reality. It's not something you made a decision on, it is something that you could say decided on you.

I have a question. Why do we assume gender is fluid, but not sexual orientation? Furthermore, "sexual orientation conversion therapies" are illegal in some countries yet gender conversion therapies, which may involve hormones and surgery are seen as a progressive step. Keep in mind that there are no biological markers for sexual orientation and strong biological markers determining gender. So strong that they require hormones or surgery.

hamza asri hmm if im not mistaken morocco is a muslim country? And in islam they dont allow lgbtqs so maybe people there are more in the closet about their sexuality and orientation so u might not encounter a situation where a patient might be offended by the binary code. But in developed nations like australia, us, uk, a country where im at, patients have more autonomy so we have to respect that and thats why knowledge on this is important and it definitely taught me something

im heterosexual, but my sexual orientation does not fit into any of the orientation labels. i thought i might be greyasexual, asexual or aceflux, but i dont fit there either. many people say its not possible, but i prefer to not label my sexual orientation :/. i might only have crushes on the opposite gender, but i dont want to have any sexual activity with them (sometimes), though i dont fit the meaning of asexual, not aceflux. im still questioning my orientation but for now i guess ill say unlabeled..
